Happy Halloween!

Getting Caught Up!

Due to some sort of a computer glitch (that is now fixed and I have NO idea what I did to fix it!) and not being able to upload photo’s, I’ve had a terrible time attempting to get a blog post up the last couple of days!!

Here we go…..

Today is Halloween, AND……My Husband’s Birthday! Whoo! Whoo! Having a birthday on a Holiday can be kind of a bummer for the birthday person. When the kids were younger and living here, I would try to make Mike a nice dinner, maybe grill a steak and enjoy a glass of wine, and weather permitting, light a fire. I tried to make it a relaxed nice evening for Mike, even though really, we were just hanging out at home handing out candy. I love answering the door and giving out the candy, and sometimes yelling at Mike to come and look at the cute little kids at the door and their costumes. Last year, we had a mini party in the driveway. I had snacks and drinks, and a fire going in the fire pit. We had a great time watching all of the neighborhood kids walk up the driveway.


We handed out candy together and spent the evening chatting with lots of neighbors. Our kids and grandkids came over to Trick or Treat, and we really had a great time. It was so much fun, we’re doing that again this year! (our kids can’t make it over this year, but we’re repeating the drive way party) I’m making a bit “Kettle” of Taco Soup, and I’ve decided this year, to make Mike’s birthday EXTRA special by we’re wearing costumes!! I’m surprising Mike with this for his birthday as soon as he gets home from work!! He’s going to be soooo happy!

I have lot’s of cowboy hats, so Mike has a nice variety to pick from! You guys……we’re dressing up as……are you ready?????

“The Farmer’s”!!!!

Get it? Our last name is FARMER???? Overalls??? Cowboy Hats????? Get it???? Farmers……..

I’m killing myself here. I can’t believe how simple it is and I’ve never thought of it before! Really. I’m feeling like a genius.

Okay, if I get bored being a little “Blonde Farmer”, I’m changing into a “Scary Farmer” with my awesome Walmart find!

You like???


Okay, the last two days……..

I spent the first three hours of Tuesday morning, thinking it was Wednesday morning! Then I had a slight panic attack, thinking I had missed meeting my friend to walk at 7:30 that morning, and I thought I had missed my Tuesday night dinner plans and wondered why no one called about it! I took a deep breathe and opened my calendar on my phone. Then I realized it was Tuesday. Then I realized I had an appointment with my trainer and I was now going to be late for it!! This all went through my head in a matter of seconds and I really thought I was going absolutely crazy!! Maybe I am!!

I met with my trainer, and I’m certain he is trying to kill me. The first exercise? Dead Weight Squat. He apparently thinks I’m Super Woman! I think he gave me a 60lb weight? Anywho…..15 squats, three different sets, has my butt really sore this morning. THEN???? He had me do walking lunges with 25 lb weights in each hand. The whole time I am thinking how heavy this feels, I said to him….”Hey! This is how much weight I have lost!” It was really a weird feeling to finally set the weights down and think that much used to be on my body… fat!!!

After an awesome session with the trainer, (I showed up right on time!), I spent the entire day running errands. I hit up Costco (where I had lunch eating a variety of un-calculated WW Points SAMPLES!!!), Walmart, and three different grocery stores picking up certain items I had on my list!

I even picked up an unexpected Christmas present! Finally, I couldn’t fit any more in the trunk, so I went home.


That night we had dinner plans with one of our daughter’s and our grandson. We went with Mexican and I ordered the Grilled Chicken Fajjta’s with corn tortilla’s, and I passed on the beers and margarita’s, but I perhaps mindlessly ate too many chips and salsa!!

Wednesday morning I met my friend for a good 4.5 mile walk, then worked the Food Truck in a nice and heavy, windy down pour! We surprisingly had several customer’s…..rain or shine…..they are certainly a faithful bunch!!

Wednesday night, Mike and I went to my mom’s house for a Chili Dinner. I have a niece in town with her boyfriend, and we were all getting together to get all caught up with one another. There were seven of us there, and the ONLY picture I took was with me and my OTHER niece (her sister). 



No one else seemed to be in the “picture” mood, and I totally forgot to take a picture of mom’s table. She does a great job of Family Style around the table and it all looked super cute!

My niece that was visiting is a vegan, so I was thrilled to offer to make the Butternut Squash Chili recipe that I have fallen in love with!



The Fall Tree’s

I think the last two years we were robbed just a bit of all the wonderful Fall color’s that the tree’s have to offer when the temperatures cooperate. I am LOVIN’ all of the colors of the trees this Fall! We planted two new Maple tree’s two summers ago, and this one is right outside of our back door! I think the color’s are gorgeous, and I swear each day it gets brighter and brighter and brighter!




 I love it!



These are a few tree’s I encountered through the week in the neighborhood. My little camera phone doesn’t quite capture all of the color’s, but I do love the variety!

I recently tackled a small project that has been on my “To Do List” for a very long time. Several years ago (4 or 5 or maybe even 6???) Mike refinished our dining room table and chairs. We purchased new fabric and recovered the cushions. We had a little fabric left over thinking we would recover the bar stools to match, and it has simply never happened. 🙂

But……..we have had these spare chairs in the basement that we bring upstairs when the whole family comes over, and they really are NOT very attractive at all. I’ve been thinking about doing something with them, but I wasn’t sure what.

Well, I surprisingly have never misplaced the spare fabric from the dining room chairs, and I love spray paint, so I played a little bit one afternoon.

Here is how the chair (there are three of these) has looked for as long as we have had them. I really don’t even remember where they came from. A garage sale maybe???




I added the fabric and decided that it did look MUCH better!

Great Start to the Week!

Yesterday was a busy and successful day with healthy eats, lots of water and walking outside! I’m keeping today’s post simple.

 Friday’s Weight Watcher Meeting

Friday’s Weight Watcher meeting was about Late Night Snacking, which for some reason has never been an issue for me. My snacking issue is from about 3:00 pm until dinnertime. Always has been. If I can keep myself busy when I am at home, then no worries, but if I don’t seem to have a lot going on, or if I find myself in a stressful situation, then that’s where the afternoon snacking can really take me over on my points for the day. There have been days that I ended up eating a much smaller dinner due to my afternoon snacking, or there have been evenings where I had snacked so much during the afternoon, that when dinnertime came around, I wasn’t even hungry, so I skipped that meal all together. 

Here are a few tips for Late Night Snacking…or Afternoon Snacking

1. Keep a few points available and PLAN to have a snack, that way you avoid any guilt in snacking.

2. I try to snack from the fridge, not the pantry. My pantry items are likely to be crackers, cookies, chips or granola bars….higher in points. My fridge snacks are likely to be yogurt, fruit, veggies and hummus or maybe some string cheese…..lower in points, or possibly, no points at all.

3. Write down a list of zero to 2 point snacks, and keep that list on the kitchen counter, or close to your WW Journal. When you want a snack, eat something ONLY from your previously made list!

4. This is something they say at the WW meetings a lot. Ask yourself…..”Is it worth it?”

 My “Coach”

I met with my “coach” on Saturday morning for coffee. We chatted about my trip to Dallas the previous weekend and my decision to have three drinks on Friday, AND on Saturday, AND on Sunday, and how it affected my eating on Monday and Tuesday, and why in the world would I do that when I am so close to reaching my goal????? I had to think really hard over the weekend about the answer to that. The best answer that I can come up with is…..”Uh, I’m not real sure. It was fun?”. I know that sounds ridiculous. My weight loss journey has been S L O W, and I have blogged about that subject (the slowness) a lot. One of things that has been a huge contributing factor in my slow weight loss has been my “socializing habits”. I know this, and sometimes my decision to pass on the adult beverages is easier than others. I was looking forward to relaxing this past weekend and getting Mike out of town and away from work. I viewed it as a mini vacation. I was at my lowest weight, I was feeling a little “on top of the world”, and I decided to indulge a bit. So I did. Even though I did drink and snack on pizza and taco’s and a quesadilla, I ate and drank probably a 1/3 of what I would have eaten four or five years ago. I likely would have had six to eight beers each day (just two years ago), not just three. So for me, even though I may have stalled my weight loss a bit, I see huge improvements from my past behavior.

“Coach” is a very determined and goal oriented person. When she first started coaching me back in February, after my rotator cuff surgery, I was really feeling a bit hopeless. I think the surgery had me a little depressed. I was at home doing nothing but snacking and I wasn’t able to exercise. I had been reading her blog over the last several months and I had watched her go from 224 lbs to 150 lbs in ELEVEN months!!! She had met her weight loss goals, and was now looking for a project, a person that she could perhaps help reach their own weight loss goals.  I asked her if she would be interested in ME being her project. She had been reading my blog as well and she said YES immediately. She helped me set some weight loss goals with deadlines on the calendar, and she encouraged me to make charts, which I did. Without her and our “coffee meetings” and her checking in on me daily, I would not be in the 150’s, and I know this. We originally set my goal of 150 to be reached at the end of August. When I didn’t meet that goal, she was super patient with me and we changed my goal to September. Then it was changed to November 22nd, my birthday. I was begining to feel like it was more important to her that I weigh 150 by my birthday than it was to me. In reality, she was simply coaching me towards a goal we had set, and somewhere along the way, I had decided that 150 was still my goal, but getting there by my birthday was not as important to me as I thought it was. What WAS important to me, was the healthy lifestyle that I have now, and knowing that as long as I continue down the path of “healthy”, the weight will come off. If I do get to 150 by my birthday, well, that will be a great birthday present to myself and I’ll be very happy, but if on November 22, I weigh 152, I’ll still be very happy.

This mornings weight? 153! 🙂

My Weekend

My mom grew up in Augusta, a little town just outside of Wichita, Kansas. Every so often, (not often enough), she likes to go back to Augusta and visit her childhood friends that still live there. I’d hate for her to make that drive (not quite three hours) by herself, so I usually drive her there, and join the fun. Her friends are great and we always have a good time. I like to give them all a hard time about being so darn “old” and they all like to give me a hard time about whatever they come up with at the time. We checked into our hotel, relaxed a bit, then headed out to the local sports bar to meet up with the “Gang”.


They like to play “Keno”, drink beers, and tell stories about when they were kids. They all went to High School together, but some of them have even known each other since before Grade School!

This is Denny. I always have to hear about how he and my mom took baths together when they were little because they had the same babysitter!!



Mom and Denny have remained good friends all these years.



Mom and Francine graduated High School together, and were likely the cutest girls in the class. They’re both under 4’9″. 🙂



We had a great time out and about with friends and hope to do it again soon!





Snacks to pack!

I really wanted to stay on track over the weekend, and I knew if I didn’t pack snacks, then I would likely be eating fast food, so I got busy packing the cooler!

I grilled up some chicken breast, cut them into bite sized pieces, then weighed them and put them into 3 oz serving sizes.



I packed plenty of Honeycrisp Apples. Perfect for a late night snack, or something to munch on while driving.



I ate a few bites of chicken and some carrot sticks after we checked into our Hotel. The vending machine was loaded with candy bars and totally calling my name. I stayed strong and went with my chicken and carrot sticks. 



I was really glad I had come prepared.



I had measured out a serving of Kashi cereal in case I wanted something sweet to munch on. After going out on Saturday, mom and I stayed up in the hotel room and drank coffee and chatted, so I was glad I had a little something sweet and crunchy to snack on with my coffee.



I knew the hotel had a breakfast bar set up in the lobby, but I wasn’t sure what all of the choices would be, so I took some of my own yogurt.



They had banana’s, so I snatched up a little packet of peanut butter to eat with it and breakfast was perfect!



I didn’t take pictures of everything that I ate, but I did write it all down and I kept track of my points over the entire weekend.  Saturday after we checked into the hotel, the weather outside was gorgeous, so I took a good 30 minute walk.

Sunday morning we drove home just in time to catch the football game. After watching the Kick Ass Chiefs game, (okay, more scary than kick ass), I worked in the yard, mowing and bagging leaves. I had a great weekend making healthy choices and I have a feeling that Friday morning’s Weigh-In will be one pound closer to 150!

My Plans for Monday through Thursday

I’m going to work on eating lots of protein, exercising, and getting lots of water in. We have several things planned for the week, so there will be some challenges, but I plan to be successful!

Today? Mother’s Day Out!

 All a mom wants sometimes is a day to herself, no matter how much she loves her kids.




After going out of town last weekend, these two have literally have been driving me nuts! They are SO much like two little kids. They want my constant attention, especially after we have been out of town, and if they don’t get it, they are either at my feet whining, or pouting on the couch, which is exactly what is happening here. 

Oh, and Mishka would like a treat.



I dropped them off at the groomer’s this morning, then planned out my day.

laundry…..ahhhh, a nice long list to keep me busy throughout the day.

Yesterday, Wednesday, was the one day a week that I work at the Food Truck, Beauty of the Bistro. It was really chilly outside and all I could think about was a nice big warm bowl of food. Any food. Big… a bowl……and warm. I had decided before I left for the day to work at the truck, that I would not eat anything at the food truck. Now, keep in mind, there are several options that I COULD eat at the food truck, and still be healthy, but sometimes once I start sampling things, it’s hard to stop. When I got there, the first thing that I spotted was a mini Apple Pie with Buttercream Frosting, that looked and smelled delicious, and I knew I would be tempted all afternoon, but I was feeling STRONG! 

This is the view that I have for the four hours that I am there…..

Possibly the best 8 oz burger you have ever put in your mouth…….topped with cheese and Bacon JAM!!!! See the one in the back row? It was calling my name, I could hear it.



Three Cheese Mac! This is served with Craw Fish, Corn and Green Onions……all sautéed in butter and poured over the top! My biggest challenge is not picking up a fork and taking a big bite of the mac and cheese every 15 minutes. I didn’t have ONE bite yesterday!


This is the pulled pork that goes on top of the Boom Boom Tacos. Occasionally, I will have a dish of this over some mixed greens, without the tortillas, but add the slaw that it is served with it and the homemade salsa and aioli. It is to DIE for.



 I ate it like that last week.



Yesterday, the lovely chef at Beauty of the Bistro, Sidney, was talking about a new burger she was in the middle of creating and possibly adding to the menu.  She cooked one up, cut it into fourths, and set two of those fourths in front of me. Holy Toledo, it was delicious, and I don’t even LIKE Blue Cheese!! It had some kind of Apple Salsa on it and a slice of some kind of Blue Cheese melted on it. Of course I didn’t take a picture, because I was only going to taste it.  I ate what she put in front of me. 

She has another dish that is one of my favorites. It’s called the “Cowboy Skillet”. It’s veggies, Chicken and Sausage, and its warm, and its served in a big bowl, (a paper bowl…it is a Food Truck people) and it’s delicious. So I had a “small” bowl of that for the rest of my lunch. Then all I could think about was more warm food, in a bowl. Chili for dinner?

While I did get the afternoon snacking under control yesterday, I procrastinated the exercise just long enough that it never happened.

I have not weighed since Friday, and I have no desire to at my meeting tomorrow. I’m sure “coach” will advise that this is NOT a good idea. After a Happy Hour cheese overload a couple of weeks ago, I was successful in getting back on track right away with lots of water and a high protein diet. I know what works for me, and I know what I need to do. I didn’t binge yesterday, but my food choices did not include a lot of veggies, and I could have worked harder to make better choices. I think my goal yesterday was simply not to snack all afternoon, and I did succeed in that. 

I feel focused today, and I will keep myself busy. The sun is shining and I have lots planned, so here is to a great day!!

I had this great plan for yesterday.

Eat well.

Eat light.

Drink lots of water.



Okay, if you read my blog daily, you know that the above words are EXACTLY how I started out yesterday’s blog. Then I stated that I would make “No Mistakes”!!!! Well, unfortunately, yesterday pretty much went exactly like Monday went. My breakfast was perfect, my lunch was perfect. Then after 12:00 p.m.,  I ran a few errands, just like the day before, one of which was at the new grocery store, “The Fresh Market”, where I sampled something from about TEN of the bulk bins!!! Sweet, salty, you name it, I had a taste. Then, while at the Deli Counter, picking out my Honey Roasted Rotisserie chicken, they asked me if I would like a sample of Chicken Salad. Well, I didn’t want to be RUDE! Then I had a sample of Pumpkin Spice Coffee. Yip, I had it all. When I got home, I made Honey Mustard Chicken Salad, then snacked on most of it! I didn’t take pictures, I didn’t measure out what I was eating, I didn’t write it down, and I have no idea how many points of Chicken Salad I ate!!!

Then I did a little pondering again on alcohol. I recently vowed to pay attention to my food intake on the days following alcohol consumption. While in Dallas over this past weekend, I would say that I had four drinks on Friday, four on Saturday, and four on Sunday. Obviously, it has affected me the last two days, because I can not seem to get back in the “Zone”. I wouldn’t say that I have felt “hungry” the last two days, or really even had “cravings”, but for some reason, I just want to snack!! It stops today, and I know it is going to be difficult.

I also find it odd that I would have such a crap week when I just had my lowest Weigh-In Ever!!!! Urg! Arg! Egads…..

Today…..I will focus.

I moved all of my trigger snacks in my pantry to the back of the pantry, where they are out of sight and I will be less likely to grab at them today.

I will write EVERYTHING down BEFORE I eat it today, and if it requires “measuring” before I can calculate the points, then I WILL measure it.

I will drink all of my water.

I will exercise, even if it is 9:00 p.m. when it happens. I will make no excuses.

I had this great plan for yesterday.

Sometimes the first few days after a vacation, no matter how short it is, can be really tough. I have a hard time getting back into writing down what I am eating and getting back to my regular routine. I’m not trying to make any excuses. I just suck at it.

Breakfast and lunch went well. Then I ran a few errands, one of which included picking up a few groceries. I picked up a variety of almonds and nuts. 


These are great snack foods, but sometimes Trigger Foods for me! Um, like yesterday!!! I just couldn’t seem to stay out of them. By the end of the afternoon, I knew I had no idea how many points I had eaten and I decided not to eat dinner. I probably wouldn’t be hungry anyhow. Then I made all sorts of excuses to not get out and walk. Urg. Oh, and then I ate dinner anyhow.

Today? No mistakes!!!!

I love this. So appropriate. I’ve fallen several times through this journey, and it will happen again. I ALWAYS get back up, and I WILL win this.

Tess has been wanting Mike and I to come visit her in Dallas ever since she got hired and moved into her apartment! I have been able to go a couple of times, but Mike hadn’t been able to get away. We finally got it on the calendar and Tess got busy planning all sorts of things for us to do. 

Before leaving town……I kinda needed a pair of jeans, but I didn’t want to get more than one pair, and I didn’t want to spend a lot, so I headed into Kohl’s immediately after my WW meeting on Friday, and tried on a few pairs. Everything there is always on sale, and I just wanted a simple pair of Levi’s. I grabbed a few 10’s, then just for the heck of it, I grabbed a whole armful of 8’s. WHAT???? I know.

I totally freaked out when I realized that I actually would be walking out of there with a size 8 pair of jeans, and I could breathe in them!! HOLLA!!


 Yip. Super Excited.


Friday afternoon, Mike came home from work and we headed to the airport for our first Free Flight (Parent perk’s of a Southwest Airlines employee!), to Dallas.


We decided to start our mini vacay off right with a beer, and kicked our feet up in the airport and talked about all the great plans Tess had for our weekend. 


We had a great flight and then enjoyed another drink in the airport while we waited for our chauffeur (Tess) to get off work. She picked us up and we headed to our first destination for the weekend, Fireside, a great little Pizza joint right beside her house.



 We were all starving and could hardly wait to dig in!




 After a great night’s sleep at Tess’ apartment, we had fun drinking coffee and cooking breakfast together Saturday morning.



Tess had been wanting to go to the JFK Sixth Floor Museum since she moved here and thought we would enjoy it too, so that was our first destination for Saturday.



It was really strange to drive down the street where JFK was actually shot. He was shot from the SIXTH floor of this building, from the left side of the building. 


 As we drove by the building, we drove the route that the President drove that November 22nd day in 1963.



After touring the museum, we were ready for our next adventure. Mike loves the TV show “Fast and Loud” and they film in Dallas, so you know we had to find it.


They also just opened a Bar & Grill, The Gas Monkey, so we headed there first.


They were super busy and it was a gorgeous day outside! We walked right in and literally found the only available three bar stools right smack in front of us! It was meant to be. 


After a beer and some quac, we headed towards the shop, hoping to see the two Host!


Um, I can’t think of their names right now, which will NOT make Mike proud, but it doesn’t matter, becasue we didn’t get to see or meet them anyways. But…..they did have a sign up that said “No Entry. Filming in Progress”, which was kinda cool knowing that they were in there filming an episode. An employee came out to talk to us at the fence and let us know that one of them was currently getting a tattoo in the shop and they were filming it! Now we know that when that episode air’s, we were standing right outside!!!






Next stop on our Dallas tour? Southwest Airlines! We had to get checked in first, then we got our own little personal tour from Tess.



On Monday’s, they have a company “Happy Hour” out on the deck, so we went to check out the deck and watch a few planes take off. The weather was gorgeous, so I pulled up a chair, had a seat, and snapped a few pictures of planes taking off!




Now we were ready for a little treat, and there are a TON of different Taco places all over Dallas. Tess had been wanting to try this one out, so off we went. I loved the sign. “Open Really Late”!!


 We all ordered two taco’s. Here’s a little peek of our afternoon treat! They were awesome!


By now we were ready for a rest, so we headed back to the apartment to plan out our evening. Tess had been wanting to take Mike to “Top Golf” since she heard about it. I’m so glad we went. What an awesome evening! It’s basically like a night of bowling, but it’s golf! It’s a huge driving range that operates just like a bowling alley, except the wait staff comes to YOU!!!



You can’t really tell from these pictures, but there were two stories, and we got to be up top golfing off the second story! Tess and Mike got us all set up to go. 


There’s a chip in each of your balls, so it records on the screen where your ball went, how many yards it went, and how many points you scored. Pretty cool, huh?


It was a little chilly outside, but the heaters above us made it perfect!


I don’t know the last time I hit a golf ball, but I think I only missed the ball entirely a couple of times.




 Most of the stalls had high top tables, but we were accidentally upgraded to a stall with a couch! Okay!


We had sliders with our pitchers of beer. yum.




We had a great evening! 



By the time our evening was over, I was exhausted! When we got back to Tess apartment, we played a few games with her roommate, Conner, and  another one of Tess’ friends, Elly. Then to bed!


Sunday, we sat outside and had coffee around the apartment pool. I was really impressed with pool area at the apartment complex. Lot’s of landscaping and cozy furniture all over. My phone was charging, or I would have had some great pictures.


Now it was time for brunch before we picked a place to watch the Chiefs game. We found a great little spot to eat brunch and watch some of the noon games. Football was our theme for the day. Well, football and beverages that is. 🙂



 We had brunch in Uptown. It reminds me of Westport in Kansas City, just a little bit. After brunch, we found this cute little spot to sit outside and watch football, so we made a pitstop here.



Tess was making calls planning the rest of our day.


 Then we finally found the perfect spot. We pulled up our barstools outside, ordered pitchers of beer, and Tess friends met up with us.



We ended our afternoon cheering the Chiefs to an awesome Victory!!


 After the game, we headed to the airport.

We had a great weekend visiting Tess and seeing lots of Dallas. We can’t wait to go back, and although we did do everything on our list for this trip, there is so much more there to do!


I felt great all weekend, and although I did have some beer and wine, and not the best food choices, we did lots of walking and I tried to get in lots of water. I probably will give myself a couple of days of exercising and water drinking before I attempt to step on the scale.

Weigh-In Results!

 This is how my Thursday morning started.


Are you jealous?



I was really looking forward to my weigh-in this morning. I still can’t believe the weight is actually coming off. There were many times that I really just thought there was no way I could weigh below 160. Today I was really hoping for 154……and I weighed…..


I was so excited, I ran in Kohl’s (it’s right beside my meeting) to see if I could find a pair of jeans real quick for the weekend.

I bought a pair of Levi’s in a size 8!!!!!!

The adrenaline rush I am experiencing right now is almost equivilant to when I went sky-diving for my 40th birthday!!!

Lot’s going on today and the rest of the weekend too, so I’m keeping this post short today. I’m taking the weekend off from blogging, so have a great weekend, and I’ll be back on Monday!

Here are yesterday’s eats……







My Evening Meal??

I cooked up some Quinoa (10 PPV), then I added to the pot….

4 oz. diced Grilled Chicken Breast (4)

1/4 C. Black Beans (2)

1/4 C. Corn (2)

1 tsp Taco Seasoning




I gave it all a good stir, added a little more salsa, heated it all up, and divided it in two.


Scooped it right outta the pan…..


….topped it with 1 PPV worth of cheese and a little more salsa.

One Serving = 10 PPV


Developing a taste for Quinoa and keeping Cooked Grilled Chicken Breast in the freezer makes for a simple, easy, filling, low point dinner!


Refresh…I can eat 26 points a day.

I can earn Activity Points by doing exercise, and eat them if I choose.

I have an allowance of 49 points that I can dip into if I chose.

I should drink a minimum of 6 (8 oz) glasses of water each day.

Tomorrow’s Weigh-In

The Scale was very kind to me this morning, and I’m feeling fairly confident about weighing in at 154 tomorrow! Whoo Whoo! You guy’s, that’s the LOWER side of the 150’s!!! When I talked to “coach” last week about going to weigh-in after enjoying too much cheese at Happy Hour the night before, she suggested I go for a 30 minute hard core walk/run before I went to my meeting.  I was like…..”Um, no thank you. If my weigh-in isn’t great due to the salt and fat intake of the cheese, I’m sure it’ll be fine in a couple of days.” Well, my weigh-in wasn’t great, but after lots of water over the next 2 days, I was where I thought I should have been last Friday morning, but it would have been nice to see my “Happy Number” at the actual meeting instead of at home by myself. This week, I’m a little more apt to thinking I just might do that in the morning. I HAVE to see 154 in the morning at my meeting!!!

Food Idea’s, Not Really Recipes?

Okay, here are a few food ideas I played with. I never like to call what I throw together a recipe. I like to play in the kitchen, but usually what I come up with is an accident, and I really don’t think I know enough about cooking to call my accidents “recipes”. I just like to tell you the ingredients I threw together that I thought ended up tasting great, and how many points it was. It really is more of an “Idea” than a recipe. It is one of things that I wanted to be able to share with the blog, so while I don’t think I’m so great at it, I do hope that I am helping you find different ways to eat different foods so that you don’t get bored with same ole same ole. 🙂

Pumpkin Almond Steel Cut Oats

I really like the texture of Steel Cut Oats. There’s just something about them. They’re almost chewy. Maybe makes me think of an Oatmeal Cookie? They’re heavy, and when I eat them, they make my belly feel happy and satisfied. I’m pretty certain that the only thing that I DON’T like about them, is the fact that they take 30 minutes to cook and you pretty much need to stay by their side to stir. But if you really like oatmeal, and can be patient, and cook a batch up, I’m fairly certain that you will NOT regret it! Once I discovered that you could cook them up, divide them into serving bowls, stick them in the fridge, and reheat them in the morning as needed, I became a fan. I have been making Mike his breakfast and lunch to take to work with him, and Steel Cut Oats have been on the menu to pack for his breakfast, so I’ve been playing a little with them. 


1 Cup Dry Steel Cut Oats

4 Cups Water

4 packets of Sweetener (I like trivia, but you could also sweeten with Brown Sugar, Raw Sugar, Honey….whatever you like)

1 tsp Cinnamon

Makes Four Servings

Toppings For One Serving

6 almonds, chopped up

1 T. of Pumpkin Butter (Did you see how I worked something Pumpkin in without making a HUGE deal out of it? Your Welcome!)


Cook Steel Cut Oats according to package directions.

After oats are done cooking, add sweetener and cinnamon to the oats and stir well.

Divide the oats into FOUR separate bowls, cover and refrigerate for use throughout the week.

When you’re ready to eat your oats, take them out, uncover them and pop them into the microwave for about 1 minute. Stir and heat longer if necessary. You may want to add a splash of milk.

Top with Pumpkin Butter…..



Add the chopped almonds and stir. Enjoy.

1 Bowl of Oats, No Toppings = 4 PPV

1 T. Pumpkin Butter = 1 PPV

6 Chopped Almonds = 1 PPV

Total for this Bowl = 6 PPV


This week for Mike’s breakfast, I sent a baggie that included one chopped Honeycrisp Apple, a handful of raisins and a few sunflower seeds. He said he LOVED it!

Scrambled Taco Eggs?

I don’t really know what to call this, so I’m just calling it what it is. It’s scrambled eggs, with taco seasoning! When I realized I had eaten more points than I thought I had the other night, I decided to eat something different for dinner than what I had originally planned. Egg Whites usually come in handy for me when this happens. I like them, I usually have them, they cook up quick, and 4 egg whites are only 1 PPV! Why not? I had opened a can of black beans for the dinner that I had planned to make, so I decided to use them with my eggs.


1 tsp of Coconut Oil (or any cooking Oil of your choice)

1 tsp of Taco Seasoning (use a store bought packet, or see below for this recipe)

1/4 Red Bell Pepper, Chopped

1/4 Yellow Onion, Chopped

Cooking spray

4 Egg Whites

1/8 Cup Black Beans, Rinsed and Drained

1 Slice Kraft 2% Sharp Cheddar Sandwich Cheese

1/4 Avocado


Makes One Serving

Taco Seasoning Recipe – Click HERE for the original site for this recipe at Rachel Cooks!

1 Tbsp chili powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp paprika
1.5 tsp ground cumin
1/2 to 1 tsp sea salt (more or less to taste)
1 tsp black pepper


Sautee Onions and Peppers in Coconut Oil for about 5 minutes. Add 1 tsp. of  taco seasoning and stir until vegetables are well coated with the seasoning. Put vegetables in another dish and set aside. 




Wipe out skillet with a paper towel and spray with cooking spray. Scramble Egg Whites.



When eggs are almost done, add veggies back into the pan.



Add the Black Beans.



Mix the veggies and black beans in really well, then break up the cheese into bite size pieces and lay on top of eggs.



Spread that cheese all over so you get a little taste in EVERY bite!



Set a lid on the pan so the cheese can melt.



Remove the lid and look at all of that deliciousness!



Top with 1/4 of an avocado and salsa!

One Serving Without Avocado = 4 PPV

One Serving With Avocado = 6 PPV



Those are just a couple of ideas that I came up with that I found satisfying in taste, satisfying in Points Plus Values, and easy. I will be cooking up some more Steel Cut Oats soon. I’ll just do that while making dinner one night. They were great to have to pack for Mike to take to the office, and I liked being able to pop a healthy breakfast into the microwave in the morning!

What I Weigh, What I Think, What I Ate

I FINALLY stepped outside of the box. The house, that is. I got out of the house on Tuesday! I had a great session with the trainer, (I am super sore, so I suppose I worked hard!), I went to lunch at a friends to discuss a “Girl’s Trip” to Chicago with some friends, I went to the grocery store, I mowed the yard AND I took the dogs for a good walk/run. I figured they could use the run just as much as I could, and it worked out really well, because they took a nice long nap when we got back home. Unfortunately, I was so excited to get them out for a walk, I completely forgot about the groceries in the trunk until I went to start dinner! Egads. I didn’t seem to ruin anything, although Mike’s WW Fudge Bars lost maybe a little of their shape?? 🙂

The last three mornings, I have stepped on the scale and it has said 154! My last, lowest Weigh-In, was 155, so it’s time for this 154 thing to happen. It’s crazy how much different my clothes fit from 157 to 154. I know only three pounds sounds like nothing, but I have been in a size 12 for most of my adult life. Well, except for that weighing over 200 period. I had started buying 16’s. I remember thinking……”Wow. They really are beginning to make clothes smaller!” At size 16, I knew I had to make some changes. Then when I was back into the 14’s, I felt like my old self. I had joined WW, and I knew that I wouldn’t be stopping at a size 14, but I did feel much better. Then I was finally in a 12 again. My body seemed like it was doomed to always wear a size 12. My upper body was doing nice things, but my butt and thighs are pretty large, so getting into a size 10 wasn’t really an option. Ever. I am happy to say that I now only have TWO pairs of pants in my closet that are a size 12. The other’s are 10’s, and they feel really good! I even bought a pair of size 8 shorts a while back, and they fit looser than they did when I bought them! The first time I put on a size 10 in a dressing room, and it fit, I was thinking……”Wow. They really are beginning to make clothes bigger!”.  It almost didn’t feel real. It felt great to put so many of the pants that have been in my closet for years, into a bag, and donate them. I’m hanging onto the two pairs of 12’s simply because they are jeans. They are “skinny” jeans, (Obviously, I am NOT skinny, but they are a tight fit all the way down to my ankle, and I like the way they feel.) Anyhow, I can wear them a for a while longer with boots for the Fall, and a sweater. But I am really looking forward to doing some serious shopping. I’m soooo close.

Okay, so that leads me here. Being only 4 pounds away from my goal, I have a much better idea of what my body is going to look like at 150. I like my legs MUCH better than I did in my 160’s and 170’s, obviously. But I’m just not certain 150 will be enough. I’ve decided that when I get to 150, I won’t change what I am doing, and I’ll just see what happens. I won’t be in any hurry. (Like I have been anyhow?) Maybe I’ll be a little happier at 145. We’ll see, but those are just a few of my thoughts about where things are and how I am feeling about my current size and shape.

I have today and tomorrow to be really careful with my salt and sugar intake in order for the scale to read 154 at my Weight Watcher meeting on Friday! I tried to be careful yesterday with my choices, but when I added up my points before eating dinner, I decided to change up what I was having for dinner. Egg Whites really do fill me up, and I like to have breakfast for dinner, so I played with eggs last night and had a very satisfying,  low point and tasty dinner.

I spent some time over the last couple of day’s updating the “Food” tab at the top of this page. I tried to break things down into a few categories to make it a little more user friendly. I hope it will help you to find a Low Point Meal or Snack idea! I’ll be adding more to it, but I’d love for you to check it out and tell me what you think?


My Next Project

My next project will be the Master Bedroom. It’s been the same color for about 10 years now, and I’m over it. I want to move the bed, but not sure if that’s even option. I’m considering taking the entire bed apart today and just moving the frame all over to see what I can come up with. 

We have three windows on the outside wall, and I’ve thought about putting the bed in front of them, but I wasn’t sure if I’d like that, and we only have one TV placement option, so I don’t know if it will even work, but after finding this picture, I’m reconsidering….



I’m a little set on making a headboard out of 2×4’s with a rustic look of some sort, and I wonder if it will stick out like a sore thumb in front of the windows? Maybe I need to consider a lighter finish than I am imagining? Or…….maybe we could do one wall in the bedroom like this…… bring it all together if I do put the bed in front of the windows??


That’s a much larger project than I had originally planned, but I think Mike would really like it, and I would imagine he’d want to work on this as a team? Or maybe not.

Dinner – I sautéed some Peppers and Onions, then added 1 tsp of Taco Seasoning


I set the onions aside and scrambled 4 egg whites. Then I combined them, added 1/8 C. of drained and rinsed Black Beans, then melted a slice of 2% Kraft Cheddar cheese on top. Yum.
