Tips for Eating a Lighter Thanksgiving Meal!

Tips for Eating Lighter at Your Thanksgiving Day Dinner! It was a busy day on Saturday and I didn’t get a chance to write a blog post! I hate missing a day! At my WW Meeting on Friday, we discussed tips for making the best choices when it comes to our Thanksgiving Meal! These are the tips I plan to use, especially since we do Thanksgiving at my In-Laws on Thursday, and another Thanksgiving Dinner at our house with my side of the family on Saturday. 1. Take a long walk in the morning. 2. If you do appetizers, make sure you have low point options available. 3. Drink a big glass of water before you fill up your plate. 4. As you go through the line, if you see a dish that isn’t your favorite, give yourself the “Okay” to skip it. 5. If you do want to […]

Coat Shopping? Okay.

Shopping! I am quite pleased that weighing under 160 (currently holding steady at 155) for the first time in my life since High School has officially made a difference in what size clothes I wear. My large and extra large tops are for the most part, out of my closet. They just look frumpy. I’ve taken ALL of the size 12 pants out of my closet. I now have ONE pair of Black Jeans/Pants and TWO pairs of regular jeans. That’s it. Oh, and lots of cozy sweats and leggings. 🙂 I am taking a trip to Chicago in December and I know I need a coat. I have a couple of Wool coats that I put on, and they really just look silly. So, I’m shopping. I found these two at Burlington, and I will likely take one back, but I couldn’t decide and they were priced quite nice! […]

Girlfriends Rock!!

“Girlfriend Time!” I went to the “Pink” Concert on Tuesday night, hence the “No Blog Post” Wednesday morning. (A girl needs her sleep!!) Just a few ladies from the neighborhood took a small party bus downtown to the concert. (They’re were over 20 of us and I think this old school bus was an EXTENDED cab!! It was CRAZY long!)   Here’s a few of the girls. You Gotta Love a Pre-Party!! One of my favorite things to do is hang out with the girls. My High School girl’s, neighborhood girl’s, girl friends I’ve met through work, Weight Watcher girlfriends….I just love my girl friends. I feel lucky to live in the city where I’ve grown up because I have friends that have been in my life for a really long time, and I feel blessed to have friends in my life that are new to me! I feel blessed […]

11-12-13!

It’s supposed to be a lucky day! Yesterday was a great day! I hope today is just as great! I am going to the “Pink” concert tonight with about 20 other women and we are taking a “Party Bus”, so I am going to assume that today isn’t going to suck. Yesterday, a very crafty friend of mine invited a few girlfriends over to decorate wine bottles with Christmas themes on them! She did a few wine bottles and beer bottles of her own over Halloween and they were a big hit with all of us! We all had her doing bottles for us. She decided to have us over to decorate our own wine bottles! She was prepared too! She had bottles prepped for us, she had paint, paint brushes, ribbon, lights to go inside of them, cut outs….the whole shebang!!! We had so much fun!   Look at […]

A Successful Day Full of Food Challenges…..

A Baby Shower and Birthday Dinner! I’m keeping this post fairly short and simple today. I had a late breakfast, then ran a bunch of errands on Sunday morning. I had only been home for a few minutes when it was time to hop in the car and head to the Baby shower. (We’re having a new Grand-baby around the beginning of February, but a special post with permission from mom on that to follow!) It was about 1:30 and I knew when I got to the shower that there would be all sorts of yummy food to eat, and I could get myself into trouble, so I quickly (too quickly) ate a piece of leftover Salmon, then I grabbed a few almonds and a water to go! I was right, there was an incredible amount of yummy foods at the shower, but I never picked up a plate, and […]

5 PPV Breakfast Challenge!

Yip, that’s right. I really enjoyed my “Four Weeks of Chicken” challenge and how it made me think outside of the box for dinner idea’s. Like I’ve recently said, I just seem to do better with a plan. I get bored and I like a variety, so I’m looking forward to my Breakfast Challenge. I am going to make 14 different breakfast items, all for 5 PPV or less, for the next two weeks.  I am going to keep these simple. No fancy recipes (I don’t have any of those anyhow….), no fancy ingredients, just a few of the different ways that I like to eat my eggs, a few different toppings that I like to put on my yogurt or oatmeal, and a few different bread options that are high in protein, low in fat and low in WW Points Plus Values. These will all be “Breakfast for One”, but […]

If There’s Food In Your Mouth, Don’t Put Food In Your Mouth!

At the WW Meeting on Friday morning, we talked about different ways that we could eat….. ……..S L O W E R…… There were lots of great tips from the WW members! 1. Set down your fork between each bite. 2. Set a timer, and make yourself make your meal last that amount of time. 3. Take a sip of water between each bite. (We didn’t discuss this one a lot, but there’s a lot more to this than one would realize!) 4. Focus on conversation with your family while you are eating and make sure the TV is off. 5. One member, who rarely watches TV, said she was going to turn the TV ON so she had something to think about besides just eating! 6. Chew your food really well so your body can properly digest it! We have a nurse in our meeting that works for a […]

To Facebook, or NOT to Facebook

I’ve had a few really interesting conversations about Facebook in the last few days. Social media can be a really positive experience, and it can be a really negative experience. I think it all depends on how involved you are and what it is you’re looking for in these different social media options. I love to read the inspirational stories and watch the funny videos, but I don’t get into the political comments and I’m not crazy about the “personal” rants people occasionally go on, although I’ve probably done my share of posting things people don’t like either. But for me, here’s the good thing. Facebook can be whatever YOU want it to be. You can read whatever you chose to read, and skip whatever you don’t want to read. I’m sure there are people that have NO interest in WW and are possibly tired of seeing my post, and […]

Four Fabulous Miles of Fall

I was in a deep sleep at 6:30 am on Wednesday morning when the phone rang. Of course I panicked, wondering who was calling and what had happened. After getting tangled up in the blankets and climbing over both of the dogs to the other side of the bed, I was told by some man on the other end of the line that someone had been trying to hack into my email account and would this be a good time for me to get in front of my computer???? Um, no. And really? Are YOU the one trying to hack into my email??? While getting tangled up in the blankets, I totally tweaked my back, then I forgot that I was supposed to meet my friend to walk! That’s how my morning started off. It didn’t matter though, because the 4 Mile walk that I DID take late in the […]

Coffee with a Friend…..Unconventionally

Coffee with a Friend…. I had a busy morning planned that included errands and exercise, so to get me through my rainy morning peacefully, I hit the Starbuck’s Drive Thru for my Grande Nonfat Latte with 1 Splenda and 1 Pump of Pumpkin Spice. 3 PPV   Coffee in hand, I headed to my local library to find out why my library card won’t allow me to put a book on hold online. Urg. Could it be that I don’t use it often enough? Damn. Possibly. I’m still trying to get my hands on that book, “Depressed and Anxious”. Am I excited to curl up with it in a cozy chair and get to readin? Not so much. But I am eager to find a way to deal with unexpected stress and/or unexpected events, and at the same time stick to my exercise and healthy eating routine. My therapist, that […]
