I had a plan. I was in control.

It felt really good to be in control yesterday. After going to an early morning WW meeting and feeling back in the game, I had a plan for the day to eat lean protein, drink lots of water, get in some exercise and keep myself busy! And that’s exactly what I did. I had a plan. I was in control. I braved the Mall and Costco and a few other places and was successful at finding what I was looking for and successful at finding a few nice surprises. I kept busy enough and had lunch before I left, so snacking and sweets never even entered my mind. I had a plan. I was in control. We had plans with some neighbors for an evening get together, so I ate a chicken breast (in the ugliest picture that I’ve ever taken of any food since I began this blog!!)  and […]

In a Better Place….

Wait, nobody died. I am in a better place, “mentally”. I am so glad that I finally faced the scale yesterday morning. As difficult as it was to finally do that, It brought me back to where I needed to be. (Because of the icy roads and the reported accidents just blocks from my house yesterday, I did NOT actually go to my Friday morning meeting, but I did weigh at home.) Knowing I needed the benefits of an actual WW meeting,  I woke up this morning and I headed out the door for the Saturday, early morning WW meeting. I weighed at home before I left the house, and I weighed TWO pounds less than I weighed yesterday at home, so that helped knowing that some of my weight gain was in fact some water weight. It also helped to know that my healthy choices on Friday were reflected […]

Well, it’s WORSE than I thought!

I got on the scale and it sucked the life right out of me! So I jumped off, paced around the house, pee’d again, exhaled and stepped on again. Same frickin’ thing! So I sent my “coach” a text and told her I needed her. I’ve basically been doing whatever I want for several weeks now, and I was missing my accountability to her. I had gotten to 154, and it had felt so good. I know I was testing the water’s a bit, and then I stopped stepping on the scale. I don’t really know why I stopped doing that. It would have kept me on tract. I knew I was making bad choices. It all started with my birthday weekend. It was MY birthday, damn it! I wanted to do whatever I wanted. Then it was Thanksgiving, and actually on Thanksgiving, I did a pretty good job. Then […]

Finally!!

Finally, a good Weight Watcher’s Day! I woke up yesterday telling myself I HAD to pull myself together! So I did. It’s so weird when you just say you’re gonna do it, then you do. My BIG challenge for the day was making treats for a cookie exchange that I am going to tonight. I made something called Crockpot Candy? I think it’s from my mom’s generation. It’s basically peanut clusters, but you could really add anything to it. This was my first experience making it, so I just followed this Trisha Yearwood recipe exactly as it said. You really just throw a bunch of peanuts in the crockpot (2 pounds!), then add a few different types of chocolate on top, cover and cook on low for three hours without stirring. Then you stir the great big chocolate concoction and it looks like this!   No, it is not chili, […]

Mom’s V-8 Hamburger Soup – Revised

(Revised to SmartPoints – 9/22/16, Original Post – December 2013) My mom made this a lot in the winter when I was a kid. I still remember walking into the house on a cold day and the house smelling like a big pot of winter yumminess. Mom still makes this soup. She made it this week as a matter of fact, which reminded me that I hadn’t made it in a while. It’s naturally a great Low Point option to have on hand, and what could be better on a bitter cold night than a bowl of Mom’s winter yumminess?? You can really change this soup up a lot, so there really are no rules. The things that make it so great are the V-8 soup, your meat option and a couple of bay leafs. I have calculated the points with a few different variations of ground meat and vegetables, and […]

“10 Girls” in Chicago!

Once upon a time, “10 Girls” took a trip to the big city of Chicago….. Wait, 10 ladies. Wait, no…. girls, girls in their 40’s and 50’s. Maybe the youngest 40 and 50 year old’s you’ve ever met. Why do I say girls? Let me start with our socks. Someone (maybe the silliest girl) came up with this great idea that we all wear Christmas socks to the airport, and oddly, we ALL agreed that sounded like a fun way to start off the trip!    Then my travel outfit became all about the socks……   After Rumchata shots, an adventurous ride to the airport, retrieving boarding passes, checking bags, and possibly enjoying the attention received from our Christmas socks, the “10 Girls” (actually there were 9, we had one meeting us at the airport coming in from Atlanta) went to the bar. Surprise! It was now about 10:30 am. […]

Decorating From Pinterest!

Loving Some of the Pinterest Ideas! I’ve been spending a little bit of time looking on Pinterest for a few decorating ideas for the front porch, the mantel, and a few different ideas on what to do with lanterns. I finished up the decorating on Tuesday and I am loving some of the Pinterest ideas! My pictures are dark and don’t really do any of my decorating any justice, but I’m in a hurry and it’s all I’ve got! 🙂 I’ve never done pots on the porch before for Christmas. Not sure how I feel about them. Usually I have my childhood wooden sled propped up on one side. hmmmm…..this may change.      I do like this guy though…..     I set a wreath on top of the pot, added a few sticks and  pine cones and ornaments. Pretty simple.     I had fun filling up my […]

One Big “To Do List!”

My “To Do List” Monday morning.   1. Pay Bills (um, a couple might be late! I seriously have been busy……) 2. Order Christmas Cards. (Christmas Eve is in THREE WEEKS!!) 3. Laundry…ALL OF IT! (I like cloth napkins and real plates for Thanksgiving, so I had a lot of clean up yet to do from Saturday’s dinner at our house.) 4. Start packing for Thursday’s trip to Chicago. (Most people that know this about me likely think it’s weird, but I like to plan outfits, then take a picture of them. Even the accessories! For me, it makes packing so much easier. So I tried on clothes and took pictures of outfits!) 5. Decorate for Christmas. (Tess and I got the tree decorated and stockings hung, but that’s it, so I had a lot to do yet.) 6. Exercise (you notice where this is on my list, and where […]

The Truth Is In Your Jeans……

You thought I was kidding??   You wanna be able to fasten those babies with a little room!   That tight thigh thing? Not recommended.     These fit great three weeks ago……   Well, I’ve skipped another day of blogging. I always think I can get everything in, then often, nothing goes as planned. It’s my life. Well, my life when I’m not on my ordinary schedule anyhow. Okay, probably one of the reasons I’ve not taken the time to sit down and write a blog post is because I wasn’t really sure just exactly WHAT  I wanted to say. I have NOT been taking pictures of my meals like I usually do and I have NOT been keeping track of points. I honestly have been a really crappy WW member these last few weeks and I just really piss myself off sometimes. I put on my size 8 […]
