The Basic’s of Weight Watchers

When I got up yesterday morning, I stepped on the scale. It takes me a few days to do that when I come home from a vacation. I had an idea where the scale would be, and I was right. I knew that yesterday I would keep within my points, track my food, drink my water, exercise and prepare myself for an awesome week of getting back to the Basic’s of Weight Watchers. I’ve been up on the scale for a few months now and I would like to get back to where I was. Track what I eat. Drink my water. Exercise. Plan. It’s the Basic’s of Weight Watchers. I worked downtown at the Food Truck yesterday. There were four other Food Trucks there as well. I had a good breakfast before I went to work. While at work, my lunch consisted of a few bites of chicken, a […]

The Beach House. Girlfriends. Chapter One.

I left last Thursday morning with my friends Betsy and Amy, for a girl’s trip that I have been really excited about!   We were on our way to N. Carolina to meet up with our friend Ashley. I met these three girls in the 7th grade. Some thirty five years later, we remain friends. Ashley grew up going to their family beach house every summer at Carolina Beach. I remember hearing stories of the beach house and I had an idea in my head of what it must have looked like. I can’t really remember the details of how planning the trip came about, but I do remember thinking it might be one of those trips that we just talk about. When we actually picked the date and started making plans, I couldn’t believe we were really going to get to go to the beach house! Ashley picked us […]

Getting Started with Weight Watchers

I’ve been going to Weight Watcher meetings on a regular basis now since September of 2009. I love my leader and I love my meetings. A couple of weeks ago, my leader asked me to share my success story at one of her up coming meetings. I was excited that she had asked me to share my story, but since I’ve gained some of my weight back and I seem to be holding on to it, I felt weird being a success story. Then I was reminded that up’s and down’s are a part of the journey and people that are on their own weight loss journey need to know that can be a normal part of the journey. The important thing is to remember this is a lifestyle, and you never quit. So I gladly went to the meeting last night and I shared my story along with two […]

Trying To Catch Up!!

I honestly didn’t take the time to calculate or count any points yesterday OR Monday! Sometimes the few days after a vacation, I do a good job of making healthy choices, but I seem to have a hard time getting back into my routine of tracking. I over committed myself yesterday and I am still trying to write a blog post about my beach weekend! I’m really only writing about that more for myself than anything, but it will drive me crazy until I get it written and completed! I ate pretty well while I was out of town, and I walked the beach, AND I got in TWO yoga classes, so I am kind of excited to blog about it!  I’m a wee bit behind on my miles for September, but I’ll get em done!   For now, here is how yesterday went without any points included. Breakfast Kashi […]

Going to the Beach!

Below is the post that I FORGOT to hit the “Publish” bottom on Thursday morning!! I had an awesome weekend and I’ll write a post all about it later this afternoon! We’ve been friends since the 7th grade! It was the perfect weekend!     Here is the post from Thursday morning! I am headed out this morning for a long weekend on the beach with some old friends. Have I mentioned lately how much I love my daughter’s job and the free flight benefits I get?? Thank you Tess! Mommy loves you!! I am keeping this short, because I should have left 10 minutes ago! Have a great weekend, and I’ll post a blog, and update you on my September Walking Challenge on Monday!   Breakfast Open Faced Egg White Sandwich on Light English Muffing   Lunch Bahn Mi Salad at the Food Truck   Snack Peach   Dinner […]

Family Game Night? Well, Kinda……

Jordan is my daughter in law. Jordan’s Grandma and her Aunt Kathy are in town for a few days and Jordan’s mom has all sorts of great Kansas City things planned for them to do. What was on last nights agenda? Family Game Night! Well, kinda…… We all went to Drag Queen Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s!   Eight of us went to play bingo for the evening, so the table was full of drinks and Bingo cards! I was the only one that had been before, so explaining what to expect to Grandma……was interesting. I knew she’d have a great time. Each night that Bingo is played at Hamburger Mary’s, the money goes towards a charity. Last night’s bingo money went towards ALS. No ice buckets were used. 🙂 It’s not your Grandma’s Bingo! (That’s their slogan for the night!) These are a few of the different bingo games that […]

Asian Grilled Chicken Salad

Another benefit of walking with friends…..Meal Ideas!  As I walked my 6 miles yesterday, I was already pondering dinner, and just couldn’t come up with anything. My friend, Becky, mentioned an Asian Chicken Salad that she likes to make. Mike orders that a LOT when we go out to eat. I never do. I never know the points value of the dressing, so I shy away from it. Making my own sounded like the perfect way to satisfy Mike’s love of an Asian Salad, and my curiosity of the points value! This was last nights dinner! Becky found the recipe on Pinterest, but I can’t seem to find the exact one. There are SO MANY!! I want to give credit where credit is due, so I apologize for not being able to find the original owner! I’ll give you the dressing recipe as Becky gave it to me. Thanks Becky!! […]

The Walking Challenge!

I’m really enjoying this walking challenge! Instead of a chart at home, I post my progress on Instagram. Here is yesterday’s Instagram for my walking challenge.     I’ve made charts for walking in the past, and that did bring a log of satisfaction, but the unexpected amount of support that I’ve found with other WW members, and walkers on Instagram has been awesome!! I am going out of town Thursday through Sunday on a girls trip to the beach, and I know we will get some activity in (maybe even Yoga on the beach!!), but just in case, I wanted to make sure I got a little over 25 miles in during my first week, so I’m on track, and feel just a bit ahead of the game! Have you made a Walking Challenge for yourself?   I had a lot going on yesterday, and never really was super […]

Weekend Update!

The last few days have been much busier than my usual day to day routine, and I had a hard time getting in a blog post. I’ve also not been the best WW member. I’ve had sandwich cravings for over a week now, and now I eventually succumbed to my cravings in some form or another on Wednesday, Thursday AND Friday! I’ve been drinking beer or wine more than I should be. I have not been tracking, however I have tried to be aware of what I was eating, and I have missed my last three WW meetings, due to things in my schedule that simply didn’t allow me to make it to a meeting! On the other hand, my 100 Mile Walking Challenge is right on track, and I’ve been getting my water in. I still feel really good, I just feel a bit “Off” when I’m not tracking […]
