January Challenge, Day 12

Yesterday was super busy and filled with all sorts of accomplishments.

I was out of the house early to run a bunch of errands, one of which included getting my oil changed. While waiting on my car, I always sit at the Starbucks that is next-door. I always order a Grande Nonfat Latte. Yesterday, I ordered a Tall black coffee. It was pretty darned good and a lot cheaper too!

Mike is super excited about all of the money we are saving this month while I pass on the alcoholic beverages and nonfat lattes and he tries to cut out his Diet Coke-QuikTrip addiction. He’s on day 5. While we are excited about saving all sorts of cash on the beverages we are not consuming, it is my hope that we don’t both lose it and beat the crap out of each other. Keep your fingers crossed.

I spent the afternoon coming up with a recipe for Quinoa Sweet Potato Burgers with Smashed Avocado. I hope you like it!

It was a productive day, and I did everything on my “to do list”, except for exercising. A goal for 2015 was to go no more than 2 days in a row without exercising, and I am having a hard time motivating myself to do just that. This is the second three day stretch that i have gone without exercise, and it’s only day 12! Damn, damn, damn.

I am meeting a friend for a Yoga Class today, so I do have a plan for some kind of movement.

For the month of January, I am not eating the following items.
Gluten
Dairy
Red Meat
Soy
Corn
Sugar
Artificial Sweetness
Alcohol

  1. Thanks Nancy!

Let me tell you what’s working. I have a friend that is doing this with me. I think it makes a huge difference. We text each other pretty much every day about different things we are eating. We met one day last week and talked about different recipes. We text each other about how we are feeling, and how we are handling our sweets cravings, and about how amazed we are that we made it through 2 weekends with no alcohol!

I think having someone to do this with is making it much easier.

Plus, I have the blog. I hate making a commitment on here, then not following through with it.

One of my goals for the years was to not go more than 2 days in a row without exercise, and I’ve already had to fess up twice that I messed that up. I hate having to admit that, but I’m glad I’m sticking to my other goals. The activity goal is one I need to keep working on.

Keep starting over each day and I’m glad you are getting better each day! That means progress!

    Have a great week!

    Julie

  2. OK your on day 12 and I keep starting over each morning but I do get a little better each day. You’re doing a great job.
