Day 23, Whole30

Lot’s of celebrating in Kansas City yesterday with a Parade for the KC Royals World Series Champs!

This is Union Station, where the Parade ended. They reported on the local news that an estimated 800,000 people showed up downtown for the festivities. Look at that sea of blue!

Here’s another shot of downtown. All of the school districts, Kansas and Missouri side, cancelled school. The city went crazy with excitement. I’m proud to live in the Kansas City area, and report that out of all of those thousands of people, the only news to report was lots of traffic and lots of Happy Kansas Citians celebrating their team! I love this city!!

My daughter and I picked up a couple of girlfriends, and we headed towards downtown, not really sure what we were in for. The closer we got, the more traffic we encountered, the more I realized just how big this crowd was going to be. Driving through the Plaza, streams of people dressed in blue.

These people are in line for the bus so they don’t have to search for a parking spot downtown. We saw several bus stops with people lined up!

I wish I had more fountain pictures, but this is one of my favorites in Kansas City!

The thought of being shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of thousands of people, and not really knowing if we would be able to see the Parade or not, or how long it would take to get home, persuaded me to just go to a bar, where we had beverages, food, bathrooms and lots of TV’s to watch the Parade, along with several others that made the same decision. Finding a potty at the Parade could have been a real task!!

I think we all had a good time, and hopefully nobody was disappointed that we weren’t right smack in the middle of that first picture in this post.

Me and my kiddo.

I honestly did not realize how silly we looked together. I was going for that Fall look, with my Royals shirt underneath. We just think alike sometimes.

It was a short visit for Tess to come in from Dallas and then head home last night, but I’m so glad she came!

Okay, Whole30……

Yesterday was Day 23 for the hubs and I on Whole30. Three meals a day for the last 23 days is 69 meals! One meal, out of the last 69 meals that we have had, we ate at our sons house. Yesterday, I ate my first meal out. I ordered a burger with fruit on the side, and didn’t eat the bread. Of course, I passed on the beers.

The rest of the week is super busy, so my post might just be my meals, and if that’s the case, I’ll do an update to how we are feeling about the Whole30 over the weekend. I can’t believe we are almost done!

After 30 days, the next step is Reintroduction, where we reintroduce foods that we have eliminated, one at a time, and see if we have any reaction to that food. You know I’m having wine first!

Here are yesterday’s eats…..

Breakfast

Lots of veggies, Asparagus, Mushrooms, Bell Pepper, Onion, Zucchini, 1 Slice of Crumbled Bacon, 1 Egg and Fruit.

Exercise = none

Water Consumed = 100

This is What I Will Accomplish in 2015

I will choose one occasion per month for Social Drinking (um..this is a work in progress)

I will go no more than two days in a row without exercise. (I’ve done “two a day’s” to make up, and slacked lately)

I will track every single day of the entire year. (I’ve only NOT tracked a few weekends this year.)

I will not be tracking my food while doing the Whole30.

I will run in a minimum of six 5K’s. Five down, One to go!

  1. You’re right. No national news coverage about how many showed up with no trouble. 🙁 That’s okay. Sometimes no news, is good news.

    We’re almost at the end!!!

Thank you, Nancy, for your continued support!

  2. So nice to see something good happening and everyone had fun and was safe—-Bet you didn’t see much about this on the national news.
7 days to go and you’ve done so well!
