Day 30, Whole30

Day 30 What a great experience the Whole30 has been for my husband, and for myself. That 30 days went way faster than I was expecting it to! If you have been following my blog for a while, you know that I like a challenge. I need a challenge. I get bored. I get off track. Occasionally, I need to press the restart button in a different way. I’ve said this several times, and it remains to be true. Doing the Whole30 was exactly what I was needing to fight my snacking demons and establish some new habits in my constant journey to a healthier me. Yesterday was great! I spent some time with my mom in the morning, and I spent the afternoon running a few errands. Last night, I went to one of the craziest parties that I have been to in a long time. I can’t even […]

Day 29, Whole30

If you read yesterday’s post, then you know I have a lot more to say on the subject matter of my digestive issues. However, I unexpectedly need to get out the door this morning, so I’ll have to delay the rest of that info for later today, or tomorrow. I am happy to report that the Probiotic may be starting to work, because yesterday, for the first time in 29 days, I had no diarrhea. I was “regular” yesterday. I hope that today is the same. I want to write about how great the Whole30 was on my last day, not about how great it was, and….oh yeah….I had diarrhea. Here are yesterday’s eats….. Breakfast – 5 PPV 1/2 Chicken Apple Sausage, Sweet Potato Rounds, Egg and 1/2 Apple   Lunch – 7 PPV Tuna Salad with a Chopped Apple, Leftover Roasted Carrots, Plantains   Snack – 4 PPV Coconut and Date […]

Day 28, Whole30

I can’t believe 30 days have almost passed since Mike and I decided to do this little challenge. If you are a regular reader, then you know that I get bored and I like to mix things up a little bit and challenge myself. Sometimes it’s a food related challenge. Sometimes it’s an exercise related challenge. Usually when I do a challenge, I learn a little something about myself. Occasionally, a reader will tell me that they were inspired and decided to do a challenge of their own, and that makes me very happy. While the Whole30 has gone great for Mike and I, I have had one issue from day 1, and only one. If you have no desire to hear about my digestive track, then you might just want to scroll down to see what I ate yesterday. I don’t blame you. In the first few days of […]

Day 27, Whole30

Whole30 Stuff I follow all sorts of Weight Watcher members, Health Food Nuts, Paleo People  and Whole30 Success Stories on Instagram. I’ve mentioned Instagram several times on my blog, because I find a lot of support and inspiration there. If you are not on Instagram, and you are looking for a support system in your weight loss journey, your weight loss maintenance, or just support in all around good health and healthy recipes and meal ideas, Instagram is an awesome place for all of those things! One of the accounts I follow on Instagram is WHOLE30ANNIE. She is in Week 2 of reintroducing foods back into her diet. Not only did she do a Whole30, but she did a Whole130. That’s right. She did the Whole30 for one hundred and thirty days! I’m super interested in how people feel when they reintroduce different foods, and her IG post caught my […]

Day 26, Whole30

(Revised…I forgot to mention when I originally posted this, I did not make it to my WW meeting yesterday since I had to work, but I think I lost this week. I will be at my meeting next Friday for sure, and i will weigh in.) What a busy and crazy last couple of weeks. October baseball, that leads into November baseball and celebrations, can be draining, and I wasn’t even drinking!! Today, we have absolutely nothing planned, and it feels so good. I went to my 8:00 am Yoga class this morning, and came home to make breakfast. It’s gorgeous outside, so I’m spending as much time on the deck as possible. I’m on coffee cup number four. It has felt really good to climb into bed early the last couple of nights. Yesterday was Food Truck day in the West Bottoms of Kansas City, and those days are […]

Day 25, Whole30

I stocked up on tea yesterday, and I added a few new flavors to my tea drawer. The only ones that I have not tried are the Vanilla Rooibos and the Gingerbread Spice. All of the teas below are caffeine free, which is great for me since I like to drink hot tea in the evening. They also have no artificial flavors and no stevia, which makes them Whole30 compliant!   I finally got a walk in yesterday.   I love the way the neighborhood looks right now.   The weekend exercise plan is Yoga Saturday morning, and a walk on Sunday. NO EXCUSES! (I can’t believe the whole30 is almost over!) Here are yesterday’s eats……. Breakfast Sautéed Asparagus, Zucchini and Red Onion topped with an egg, and a Clementine with a cup of Black Coffee.   Lunch I made Butternut Squash Chili, but with a few changes to make it Whole30 […]

Day 24, Whole30

A busy day today, but the whole30 is still going great, and I’m still sucking at getting in exercise lately. Here are yesterday’s eats…… Breakfast Leftover Chicken Breast tossed in the skillet with leftover roasted Brussels Sprouts, and some leftover diced Sweet Potato. A little Olive Oil and salt and pepper, and a few mini heirloom tomatoes with fresh basil, and my weird leftover breakfast was delicious.   Lunch Pork at the Food Truck with diced Apple (I didn’t think to pack lunch, and although there were no veggies here, I think I had enough at breakfast for an entire day!   Dinner  Cobb Salad. Chicken, Bacon, Egg, Avocado, Tomatoes all on a bed or mixed greens, with Olive Oil and Vinegar Dressing. Exercise = none Water Consumed = 70   This is What I Will Accomplish in 2015 I will choose one occasion per month for Social Drinking (um..this […]

Day 23, Whole30

Lot’s of celebrating in Kansas City yesterday with a Parade for the KC Royals World Series Champs! This is Union Station, where the Parade ended. They reported on the local news that an estimated 800,000 people showed up downtown for the festivities. Look at that sea of blue!   Here’s another shot of downtown. All of the school districts, Kansas and Missouri side, cancelled school. The city went crazy with excitement. I’m proud to live in the Kansas City area, and report that out of all of those thousands of people, the only news to report was lots of traffic and lots of Happy Kansas Citians celebrating their team! I love this city!!   My daughter and I picked up a couple of girlfriends, and we headed towards downtown, not really sure what we were in for. The closer we got, the more traffic we encountered, the more I realized just […]

Day 22, Whole30

I only have a second to blog this morning. Tess came in town from Dallas last night, and we are off to grab some friends and head downtown to the big Parade for our Boy’s In Blue! Kansas City is lit up in blue! The fountains (did you know that we are the City of Fountains?) have blue water, everyone is wearing their blue, and you guys….even the sky is blue today!! (Actually, it’s a little grey and foggy out.) The City is really celebrating it’s Kansas City Royals World Series Champions. Yesterday morning, I hit up one of our Kansas City Shop’s for a World Series Champs shirt! I’m standing in line…….   Still in line….. Then I had a full day and evening. Mike doesn’t have a lot of things that he puts on our social calendar, but he does love Jamey Johnson, so last night, we went on a […]

Day 21, Whole30

This town loves their Kansas City Royals. We loved this group last year and we knew they’d be back to take the Crown this year!   Mike and I watched the game at home…..   Wide awake and very calm in the 11th inning! When things got crazy in the 12th inning, we decided to go back over to the neighbor’s house that we were at the night before for Victory Fireball Shots!! You guys, we just won the World Series!!! Tess wanted us to FaceTime her so she could do a victory shot with us! (I totally spit my shot of Fireball back into my shot glass, but they were the mini red solo cups, so nobody knew. I hadn’t planned to do that, but when it was in my mouth, I was like nooooooooo…….) Goofball. If you’re not a sports fan, the Mets have a player with the […]
