Time Out

We’ve had to take a little Time Out from the Whole30, and it really stinks.

Thursday morning, I was stepping into a pair of pants when my back cramped up. Not lower back stuff, but right in the middle of my back, on the right side. It feels like there is a knot the size of a grapefruit and it has continued to seize up/cramp/contract since then.

After some coaxing from my girlfriends on Friday, I went to see the chiropractor on Saturday morning.

Going to the chiropractor scares the living daylights out of me, and after an exam, he told me that I had a rib out of place, which freaked me out. He put my rib back where it is supposed to be, he gave me an all over adjustment, which I despise, and he told me to ice on, ice off every 20 minutes for the next few days. He told me to do nothing but rest for the next few days and come back on Tuesday. He told me that I would likely feel worse before I felt better, which I do.

Yesterday was the worst. Every time that I stood, sat, turned my head or moved my arms, my back cramped up. On a scale of 1-10, I give the cramps a 10. They only last about 5 seconds each time they occur, but they happened all day yesterday. It made me want to sit all day, and not risk moving. I drank a lot of water to keep hydrated, which kept me going to the bathroom all day. Going through the motions of getting to the bathroom brought on five to six cramps per potty break!

Thursday and Friday, I had enough food prepared that we ate Whole30, but at the end of Friday night, I drank some wine to see if it might help things relax. It did.

Saturday and Sunday, we ate as close to Whole30 as possible for breakfast and lunch, and Mike got us take out for dinner. I still had some wine in hopes of some relief.

We’ll get back at it as soon as cooking is an option.

Back issues suck!

We have watched a LOT of movies and I’m almost finished with Season One of Shameless on Netflix, which is a bit dark and weird, but I’m hooked.

I hope to be back in a few days!

Happy Monday and have a great week!

  1. Thank you! I’m feeling those thoughts and wishes and really appreciate them!

  2. Thank you Latiffany! I am feeling much better. I’m in Season 3 of Shameless, and you weren’t a kiddin! Shameless is awful, yet I can not stop watching! lol Super twisted and oddly funny. I’ve added Tina Fey to my list. Thank you for that!

    Have a great day!

  3. Thank you Pam. I think between the muscle relaxers and Chiropractor, things are much better!

  4. Hope you’re back to better soon! You continue to inspire me with your amazing recipes and great attitude!

  5. I’m concerned for your back situation and hoping you get relief soon. Take care of yourself – Pam

  6. I’m so sorry to read that you are going through this. I wish you a speedy recovery. Shameless gets darker so be prepared! If you need something lighter try Tina Feys’ show Unbreakable Kimmy Schimdt. It’s hilarious. Wishing you the best!

  7. Do think happy thoughts!! And remember this is a journey you can continue on when it’s time! In the scheme of life, what’s the difference of a few days here or there, right? 😊 Right now just take care of yourself and your back!
