Busy Week, Relaxing Weekend

Scale Update

The scale is back down to 172. Last Monday, after returning from Nashville, the scale said 178! I knew it was mostly water, salt and travel, but I also knew that it would take walking some miles, going to Yoga, plenty of healthy food choices and lots of water drinking to get me back where my body likes to be.

Weight Watchers will now hire you if you have lost 10% of your starting weight, and maintained that loss for 12 weeks or longer. (I mean, they have to think that you are going to do a good job in your role as well.) Although I am 12 pounds over my goal weight that I did reach in 2013, I have met those weight loss requirements. I would assume that they would like for me to be at my goal weight as a Leader. Right? I want to be a good example of a successful Weight Watcher Member. That’s the whole idea of being a Leader. Lead by example.

I would feel like a bit of a fraud standing before a group of WW members as a Leader if I were not at my goal weight. So…..I need to make a decision if I need to work back towards 160, or change my goal weight. I have been at 172 for over two years now, and I like the way that I feel. I feel strong, I feel healthy, I know how to maintain this weight. When I see the scale go up, I get right back to 172 without a lot of stress, but by making healthy choices and using the tools that Weight Watchers has provided me with. I definitely feel like a successful WW member.

I don’t know how easy or difficult it will be to get back to 160 and maintain it? I do know, that if I decide that 172 is a healthy weight for me, I will proudly stand before a room of WW members, and know that I at one time weighed well over 200 pounds, and that I lost that weight through Weight Watchers, and that I continue to live a healthy life using the Weight Watchers guidelines.

I have a physical scheduled for this month, so I will discuss my weight with my doctor, and see how that goes. I have a plan.

Blog

I’m only making a few simple changes for now, and maybe nobody cares or would even notice. lol

I will continue to blog daily…..well, daily as in, like I usually do. These last few days were just busy! 🙂

For a long time, I have listed pictures of my food with SmartPoints Values. At the end of my blog, I again list the points that I ate for each meal, the total for the day, how much water I drank for the day, what exercise I did, how many Activity Points that I earned and how many Points I had left for the week out of my Weekly points.

I did that mostly for myself so I could look at my day in print and see how I did. I really feel like I am in a good place with my food choices, my exercise routine, getting my water in, and for the most part, not going over on my points for the week. That part of my blog is very time consuming, so I’ve decided to remove it and just show pictures of everything that I eat with the SmartPoints listed.

It was my thought when I started posting pictures of my meals, that I could help WW members find meal ideas for few SmartPoints, and still be full and satisfied at the end of a meal. I have heard from many of you that you like the pictures and that you like the meal ideas with the SmartPoints listed. That will likely never change.

I hope to add more recipes and clean the blog up a little in the recipe department. (I keep saying that. It will happen.) For now, I’m just trying to simplify and save myself a little time.

The Last Few Days

Thursday morning I headed out the door at 5:30 a.m. and things haven’t really slowed down since. (I was surprised at how many walkers and runners I saw at 5:30 a.m.!!)

I trained at two meetings starting early on Thursday morning, then spent the rest of the day completing a hefty to do list. Mike played golf after work, so I spent the evening with a friend sipping wine on her deck. It was beautiful outside. I put on a backpack, put my wine in it, and walked just over a mile to her house instead of driving. I earned my wine! I kept it to two glasses, then walked home.

Look what I found on the sidewalk on the way to her house! After this hot summer, I am so ready for Fall and all of the things that go with it! (Pumpkin…..I am ready for you!)

Friday I worked the food truck in the West Bottoms of KC. It was crazy busy, but tons of fun. I even got in a little shopping at one of my favorite vintage shops! When I came home, the only thing that I wanted to do was take a shower and veg out. Instead, I mowed the lawn, edged it all, pulled weeds, then spent an hour cutting down some tall grass around our electrical box in the back yard. I’m not sure what happened back there, but an animal or a storm had the 7 foot tall grass going in every direction and laying in the yard. My body was one big hive when I was done. At 7:00 p.m., I hopped in the shower. Mike and I grabbed dinner out. We were in bed by 10:00 and I slept like a baby

I woke up on Saturday to a group text about an earthquake? We live in Kansas. We have tornadoes, not earthquakes! Anywho, I guess we really did have one, but I was sleeping hard, and felt absolutely nothing.

After the apparent earthquake, I went to my 8:00 am Hot Yoga class, then City Market and coffee with my dad. After coffee, I went to my dad’s house and he sent me home with this.

Webster 18,000 Word Dictionary from 1931!

This little leather Webster Dictionary belonged to my dad’s parents. When he pulled it out of his pocket, I remembered it right away, but I haven’t seen it in years. I love that I now get to have it! This is my Grandmothers name. Is this so cute??

After a full Saturday morning, I came home to do some house work. While pondering mopping and vacuuming, my friend Becky called to see if I would like to go with her to look at the Sunflower Field at Grinters Farm about 45 minutes away, to which I replied, “Sure!” I had no idea what she was talking about, but I was intrigued, and Mike was napping.

You guys…..this was gorgeous!!

So pretty! Some of these sunflowers were 6′ Tall!! Maybe taller!

When they look away……

I almost stepped on these little guys hiding below all of the sunflowers! They stood about 8 inches tall.

Mike and I spent last night chilling on the deck and listening to the Royals game.

These are just a few of the meals that I’ve had over the last few days if you’re looking for some ideas to make at home, or order out.

I made this big skillet last week and we had it for dinner on two nights. The last of it tasted great for lunch one day topped with eggs!

Bell Pepper slices with eggs cooked in them for breakfast. Fun, different, tasty and only 5 SmartPoints. I sprayed a skillet with cooking spray, set the pepper slices in the skillet, and put the eggs inside to cook. Easy peasy.

Friday night we stopped at a Bar and Grill to watch the Royals game. I ordered this Cajun Chicken Cobb Salad with no cheese. It looks rather boring, but the Chicken really had a lot of flavor, and after I chopped everything up, it was pretty good. The dressing was on the side and I ate about 1 T. of it.

I really thought that we had NO food in the fridge, then made this for breakfast one morning.

I scrambled 2 Eggs and 6 Egg Whites for Mike and I, then topped them with Smashed Avocado and Fruit on the side. Breakfast was great and only 4 SmartPoints per serving. (It really was the only food in the fridge!!)

This was lunch on Saturday. Grilled Chicken, Plantains, Smashed Avocado, Carrots and Tomatoes.

I had removed some Chicken Breast from the freezer that I grilled a few weeks back. This made lunch come together so quick! I bought the carrots and the tomatoes at the City Market yesterday. I am loving the fresh tomatoes this year!

We ordered dinner out last night and then ate it on the deck while listening to the Royals game.

I ordered the Blackened Salmon Caesar Salad…No Croutons…No Cheese. I love the way that they cook the salmon, and it really doesn’t need much dressing. I used about 1 teaspoon and only ate half of the Salmon. That was a HUGE piece of salmon!

Today? Coffee with mom and my niece, then some much needed house work and grocery shopping.

I hope you all have a great long weekend planned and that you are having beautiful weather! The weather is perfect here in KC!

It has been busy these last few days and we have eaten more meals out than usual. I’d like to get to the store today after having coffee with my mom and do a little meal planning and prep for the next few days. No plans for tomorrow, and I could not be happier.

I plan to celebrate Labor Day…..by not doing any Labor.

These are my 2016 Goals
Make time each week to Meal Plan
Drink 100 ounces of water each day
Exercise 5 days a week
Three Meals and One Snack, Daily

  1. Thanks Dawn. Wasn’t that field of Sunflowers gorgeous?? Loved it!

It has taken me years to figure it all out, and to be where I am mentally, but it sure does feel good to be here.

Thanks for coming to the blog!

    Julie

  2. I went to Grinters Farm as well this past weekend. So pretty! I love the fact that you have a healthy attitude about your weight and have found a way to still enjoy a glass of wine or little indulgences, but balance them out with healthy meals. You are inspiring!

  3. Wow! You know me so well just through my blog. I’m so laughing right now after reading your comment. All I have done is housework, but I think it’s because I knew that I had no place to be, and dinner is half ready, and I am going out of town again on Thursday. I’m in my sweats, no makeup, still sipping on coffee, and not in any rush. I actually like doing housework in that mode. I’m so weird sometimes Nancy.

I swear that after 5:00 ish today….I am doing nothing!!! lol

I think that mentally I’m in a better place about my body than I was a few years back. I do think that my legs look much better since I’ve been doing Yoga now for a couple of years. They don’t look muscular, but I do think that they look less fat??

I think for the most part though, I’m just less hard on myself and I feel good about my body.

  4. And this was the weekend you were going to relax–lol.
Do you think because of all your exercising that you might have more muscle now than you did when you were first 160??
Because muscle weighs more and is better for you.
