That Lake Trip was Quick!!

We knew when we planned our lake weekend that there was a chance we might be cutting it short. Thank goodness we were only a three hour drive from home. Grand Baby number five came about 11 days earlier than expected and she is stunning! I introduce to you…. Wrenley Rose, 6 lbs, 8 oz, 18 inches long. Is she not beautiful? Just like her mama.   Friday morning was filled with more errands than I had anticipated and planned for, but by 2:00 pm, we were ready to go! I packed enough for a week, and we were to be gone for two days. I like to be prepared people.   I loved the lake house! The weather was chilly, but still it was so pretty.   We spent the evening on the deck curled up in blankets enjoying too many snacks, yummy drinks, playing the game Heads Up, […]

Another quick post. I’ve got a “to do” list to work on today, then we are going to the lake! We made Lake plans a couple of weeks ago, when it was unseasonably warm. Sunshine and Fresh Air

Yesterday was a beautiful day for working at the food truck, then getting in a walk outside. I knew that if I started a walking challenge, it would force me to get in more activity. Well, I have NOT been doing a great job of time management and making my walking challenge a priority. I received an email from a reader who let me know where she was at on the walking challenge. She is doing awesome! For me, it was a great reminder that no matter how busy life gets, I need to set aside time during the day for me. The walking challenge is an opportunity for me to take time out of the day to do something for myself that benefits me in so many ways. Thank you Rene!! Yesterday, I walked 3 miles with a friend, then walked the pups for a mile. If I can get 4 miles […]

A Normal Day

It felt good to have a regular old uneventful Monday yesterday. I had a few errands to run in the morning, I had a few mindless things to get done at home in the afternoon, I took a walk with a friend and then I worked as a receptionist at a Monday evening WW meeting. My friend Ashli lives acrossed the street and had made some soup. A LOT of soup. She sent me a text asking me if I wanted some for dinner. Since I hadn’t cooked yet, I told her that I’d be right over! Her soup was delicious! Aside from the electricity going out for about 5 minutes last night and discovering a Tornado went through the Kansas City area at about that time, it was a relaxing and nice evening. From what I can tell, several homes were damaged, but I have not yet heard of […]

Play Day, Work Day

Saturday was a great play day and the morning started off with the Dirty Girl Adventure hike. It was just a tad chilly and windy when we got started, but we knew after we walked for just a few minutes, that we would start shedding layers, and we did. And we’re off……   The weather ended up being absolutely perfect!   It wasn’t a hard hike, but it wasn’t all Kansas flat lands either. A few slippery leaves and rocks along the way. I borrowed a walking stick. Now I want one of my own.  These are just a few of the dirty girls.  I’d say about thirty showed up for the hike?   We had some great views.   After the hike, lunch by the camp fire, which was actually a very small fire due to the lack of rain and the red flag warning. Still, there was a fire […]

Dirty Girl

After working at the Food Truck on Wednesday for the first time since December (it felt so good to be back and see all of our regulars!), I came home one Dirty Girl smelling like burgers and pulled pork. We sold out of everything! It was a great day and it felt good to be back with the girls. We didn’t even have time to enjoy a burger of our own! I was ready for a long hot shower. Guys, I’m craving a spa day.   For now, this hot shower and cold beer will have to do! After that shower, a friend of mine picked me up and we headed off to a meet and greet of sorts. She discovered a group on Facebook called Dirty Girl Adventures, outdoor adventures for girls who like to get dirty! Hike, Kayak & Bike! I think this could be fun, and I’m ready […]

Are You Walking With Me?

I’m Walking 100 Miles in March. Are you walking with me? Good morning! I am so ready to say good bye to February and so ready to welcome March! In February we lost loved ones, we placed a family member in a nursing home, due to the flu we had to cancel our vacation to Mexico and poor Tucker had five teeth pulled. He has now had to have 26 teeth pulled! Yes, he still has a few left in there, but not many. On the optimistic side of February, we were reunited with loved ones, we brightened up the inside of house, I got to see my daughter Tess, and after realizing we really weren’t going to Mexico this year, Mike spent our vacation money on a Sleep Number bed for Valentines Day. I’ll post a picture. We are literally sleeping in separate beds. It’s hilarious. It is one of those split down […]
