I’ve Been Busy Drinking & Eating (kinda…)

When I skip a few days of blogging it either means that the days are just too busy to fit in a blog, or I’m eating and drinking crap and I need to figure out why so I can blog about it. lol

Well, both of these things happen to be true here. I have been busy and I’ve also been busy eating and drinking.

After working my early morning meeting on Thursday, I ran a couple of errands, then met some girlfriends for a birthday lunch for a friend where we sipped on wine.

My salad was delicious! The dressing on the side really wasn’t even needed with all of the deliciousness already in this bowl.

After lunch a few of us went to a patio for a cold beer (okay, we had two cold beers.) I went for a long walk when I got home, then skipped dinner. I think I had an Apple. I just wasn’t hungry.

Friday morning I was out the door early to head downtown to the West Bottoms. Here I am patiently waiting at a stop light. I swear.

I seriously do NOT think that my bangs are that white in person!! Are they???

The West Bottoms is the place with all of the vintage shops, so I like to go early and shop and spend half of my paycheck before the day even gets started. I did not disappoint! After I figure out where I’m going to hang what I bought, I’ll show it to you.

Friday after work (and a long shower…nobody wants to smell like a cheeseburger all night long), I met a few girlfriends for Happy Hour (cuz it’s Friday night!). We all got caught up, a few girls had to leave, then there were three. We invited the husbands over and we all went to dinner, where I enjoyed Street Taco’s and a flight of Beer. Dang it. I’ve liked beer since Middle School. KIDDING!! Just seeing if you’re paying attention.

I’ve been trying new Stouts. These were so good! Think Coffee and Beer combined. Only if you think that sounds good of course. If you think that sounds gross, then, well, just don’t think about it.

At some point during my Friday evening I got a text from my daughter Tess telling me that her Instagram post was shared on the Weight Watcher Instagram Story! Weight Watchers has over 590,000 followers on Instagram, so Tess was pretty stoked, as you can imagine. That’s a lot of people reading your post!

She was celebrating #NationalDonutDay and made mud_hustler’s 1 SmartPoints donut. That’s the same guy that I got the Big Ass Waffle recipe from. He is kind of a big deal on the WW Connect App and with the Weight Watcher Social Media team. Tess is on the Social Media team with Southwest Airlines, so anything Social Media related can be a fun topic when your own post is shared.

This is her original post.

Well, Weight Watchers “liked” her post and so did Mud, so she was all excited. Then it got even better because WW asked her if they could share her post! Cool, right? And now…..Mud Hustler is following Tess on her sippinongymandjuice Instagram page! Yay! All sorts of fun stuff.

Here is the WW share.

When you slide up on Instagram, WW even linked to her blog, sippinongymandjuice.com. I may be partial because I’m her mom, but I think it’s a great blog!

Okay, so If you know what all of that means, then you know that she was ecstatic and in the social media world, it’s kind of a big deal.

If none of that makes any sense to you whatsoever, then it’s all good. Just know that Tess was very excited and that I was very excited for her.

Can you handle some even more exciting news??

Our son in law, Cortney, recently got a new job and he and our daughter Anne and their two kids moved to Oklahoma. I’ve shared that already.

Anne and Cortney have been together since they were 14 years old. They are both now 28. They have two kids with one on the way. We have watched these two work really hard in their young years. They bought their first home at a young age, they are doing a great job raising two awesome kids, Cortney has worked hard and continued to take college classes after high school graduation and Anne  opened her own salon and was very successful with her business.

Yesterday, we watched Cortney graduate from college! Super proud of him and so happy for the whole family!

Congrats Cort!

This picture is funny for a couple of reasons. One, Malik is totally doing a photo bomb between Cortney and Mike. Two, I am in the picture beside Anne. Mike and I decided to take the convertible with the top down since it was nice outside. I guess I should have gone to the bathroom to look in a mirror at some point. My hair was in a pony tail but I have TWO very large hair wings sticking straight out from each side of my head and nobody told me!! My shirt is not at all flattering either. So….I’m out!

After dinner, we all went out for BBQ, where I did not have any beer, but drank about three gallons of water. We went to the same BBQ place that we went to with Tess and Manuel last weekend.

I ordered the Burnt Ends and a Veggie Kabob. I passed on the bread and whatever that white stuff was. Horseradish something??

We got home at around 3:00. I walked in the house, went right to my room and put on pajama’s and crawled into bed where I slept for over two hours. I’m not a napper typically, but that felt good.

After my nap, I walked aimlessly around the grocery store for over an hour and came home with only a few things. Nothing sounded good, I wasn’t particularly hungry, I had no plan and I guess I was still half asleep.

I came home and told Mike that dinner was on his own. He grabbed some take out and I was back in bed before 10:00.

I’m rested now!

I started off my Sunday with a Hot Yoga Class! It was an awesome class this morning. Extra Hot!

Yoga put me in a great mood and I came home and started pulling out of the fridge what food I did have.

Butternut Squash to Roast. Bacon to cook up for the week. Chicken Apple Sausage to have for the week. Chicken Breast to thaw and marinade and grill tonight, a Salmon fillet for lunch one day and a Veggie Hash for breakfast today.

I have a Rotisserie Chicken to use in some Chicken Salad and to use for our Salad for tonights dinner.

In the fitness department of things in this last week, I did get in one Yoga Class with Tess here and three days of over 12,000 steps, but my goal is to do that five days a week. Not terrible, but needs improvement.

Most of you that are regular readers, know that I have always struggled with my socializing choices and the summer months always seem more difficult to me.

There is something about the ambiance of a Cold Beer on a Patio with friends that I really enjoy. Yes, I can enjoy non alcoholic beverages too, and I do often, I just need to do so more often in order for me to have more balance.

This week, I will work on my Summer cravings and finding balance so I can enjoy them.

I have a lot of extra things on the calendar this week, so it will be a busy one!

Oh….Mike is starting our Master Bedroom Demolition, (I can hear the walls coming down as I type this!) so be expecting some dramatic blog post from yours truly about that experience!! He is gutting the whole thing and moving walls and putting in heated floors and a whole slew of other things. I think it all sounds overwhelming, but he has promised that if it starts to feel like too much, he will hire help. Prayers please. (Okay, I’m already being dramatic. I know.)

I hope you all have an awesome week planned!
2017 Goals

FOUR 100 Mile Walking Challenges this year! (This goal has changed a little now that I have this fabulous Fitbit.)

  3. Boy you have been busy.
I went to your daughter’s blog and read what she wrote about you–wonderful blog post.

  4. OK Lady, we need to talk!!! If you are living life – going down the road in a convertible – you just need to let that hair fly and wear the consequences proudly! I’m pretty sure none of us are going to be happy until we see the un-cropped version of that picture!!!! Congrats to the beautiful fam – doesn’t it feel good to have such good kids? Hugs, Ronda
