Snowfall, Fall Snow?

Let me share with you what we’ve been so fortunate to look at over these las few weeks here in Kansas.

I wish I had more pictures of the snow sitting on top of the leaves.

And this is why I have to buy new cushions! When will I learn to bring those inside?

Green grass, Fall Colors and a little snow. Sneak in a tulip and we’ve got all Four Seasons!

I am so not ready for snow but I must say this has been a beautiful sight to see. We’ve had so many beautiful trees this fall, and now we’ve had a light snowfall that put a beautiful dusting of white on top of it. It truly is gorgeous.

Mike and I were out the door yesterday morning shortly after 5:30 am. I had a quick surgery on my right hand/wrist/thumb, a cortisone shot in my left thumb and we were home by 10:30 am. I spent the afternoon on the couch trying to nap, with no real luck at all. I’m not a good napper. I did not get sent home in a splint which is nice. My hand is wrapped in an ace bandage and they sent me home with this crazy looking pillow to help keep the right hand elevated.

Makes me want Swiss cheese.

On the left side I have Trigger Thumb

On the right side I have De Quervains Tenosynovitis

Hopefully after a few days both hands will feel so much better. The only difficult part of the surgery was the IV. When you have lymph nodes removed from one side, they no longer take your blood pressure or draw blood from that side. So the blood pressure cuff was on my calve and because I was having surgery on my right hand, the nurse tried  to put the IV in the top of my foot!!

After two failed attempts and me yelling F*** over and over again, they called in the IV specialist team. Now why on earth didn’t they do that first?

I ask the IV specialist if he ever put an IV in a foot. He said no because there are too many nerve endings in the foot. Well, thats explains a lot! I asked him if he didn’t mind sharing that with the nurse. Egads.

He then used an ultrasound machine to find a good vain in my right bicep, and put the IV in there. Didn’t feel a thing. He also said that it was far enough away from the surgery site that it shouldn’t be in the surgeons way.

Does this look crooked to you? I’m so happy there is no splint!

If someone ever tries to put an IV in the top of your foot, tell them to bring in the specialist!

Okay, I couldn’t have breakfast because of the surgery, so this is brunch and dinner and a snack.

Brunch – 10 SP

I ordered First Watch on the way home.

My favorite Hash. I”m guessing on the points, but that was quite a bit of potatoes.

Dinner – 2 SP

Before heading to the hospital, I put some chicken, canned tomatoes, chicken broth and Taco seasoning in the crockpot. No measurements here, just throwing stuff in.

The house smelled good when we got home and I didn’t have to worry about dinner. Sorry for the really ugly and un appetizing picture.

Evening Snack – 0 SP

I was feeling dehydrated so cold grapes sounded good and I also drank a ton of water.

I hope those of you that have beautiful Fall Trees are able to get outside and enjoy them as much as I have.

Happy Weekend!
