Merry Christmas!

Hi Friends! Come on in.

Were any of you able to see Jupiter and Saturn align Tuesday night? Mike and I headed out shortly after sunset in hopes of seeing the “Star of Bethlehem”. Now if we only would have had more than a cell phone. Still, a nice memory for our unusual year.

It looks like it’s just the two of us for Christmas this year and we are slowly and gradually coming to terms with that as I’m sure many of you are celebrating Christmas and the holidays differently this year as well.

I’ve spent several days over in Effie enjoying the little holiday cheer that she gives me. So fortunate for the sunny warm December we’ve had here.

Even though I suspected we would have no one over, I decided to decorate the house as I usually do. As much as I enjoy sharing our home decorated for Christmas with our family, I really enjoy it daily for myself through the month of December. I’m glad I did it as we’ve spent so much time here this month it’s been nice to have the tree lights on in the evening and I’ve lit candles every day so the house smells amazing. I think somewhere around October I accepted the fact that Christmas would look different this year and accepting it back then has made it easier for me as we move through Christmas Eve today and prepare for tomorrow.

One evening I went into the basement to get the grandkids presents prepared for our delivery today. While down there I started playing on the chalkboard that I created on that wall with them in mind. I know they’ve had fun playing with it and it was fun for me to play with chalk a little while I thought about each of them and drew their nine names and a Christmas tree.

I thought I’d do Family Christmas Boxes for an easy yard drop.

We’re taking the red convertible, or as we’re calling it, the sled, and wearing Santa hats to deliver gifts. It’s currently 21° here in Kansas City. 😳 We’ll see how that top down thing goes.

Great News! Merry Christmas to me!

Our daughter Kate

This beautiful girl (inside and out, always has been) is now down 93 pounds after her vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) in May! Feeling great and adapting to a new way of eating. Happy and healthy.

I’m making Lasagna for Mike and I for dinner tonight for Christmas Eve. My mom made us pumpkin bread so will enjoy that and savor every single bite for Christmas morning. Christmas afternoon I’m playing with my first Paleo pizza recipe. Lots of Christmas music and Christmas movies to occupy our time over the next couple of days. Merry Christmas to all of you celebrating Christmas!

I look forward to sharing my 2021 goals with you in a post next week!

I LOVE YOU ALL!

  1. Merry Christmas Julie!
Your home looks beautiful. And I agree that decorating for yourself is very important! I’m loving this season and enjoying the lights and baking for friends. Makes me happy!!

  2. Merry Christmas to you as well! So happy that you decorated for YOU! Just Brian and I alone too this year, seems so strange, but I’ve got a pot of 15 bean soup on and feeling very thankful and hopeful for a NEW new year – I received my Covid immunization yesterday, so that is the greatest gift I could ask for. Hugs and love from Ronda

  3. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Bright New Year!
Once again I think you missed your calling and you should have been a interior decorator.
Your house looks wonderful in every nook and corner.
