  1. I never hard boil eggs, and I like them too! I’ll have to cook some of those up!

I love quinoa, but for some reason stopped cooking it so much, so thank you for the reminder!

I’ve never had oat bran, so maybe I’ll give that a try for a little variety!

Thanks for all of your suggestions!

    Juie

  2. Well, some of my favs while doing simply filling…

Salad with lentils, quinoa and tons of veggies
Roasting or grilling tons of veggies and adding to everything
Oat bran for breakfast with fruit has been a saving grace
Beans of all kinds, love mixing different for a side dish

  3. Hi Debra! I usually respond within a day or two to comments because I love getting to chat with my readers. I’m having some blogging issues, so it appears I’ve overlooked lots of comments lately.

I’m glad you found the blog! I completely understand your struggles. I’m 48 and I can never remember not struggling with the food demons. There is hope for you though. I promise.

I still struggle with quantity, but I have changed so much about the food that I eat. Lots of whole foods will help fill you up and you will not have as many cravings. You start to crave fresh fruit!

That being said, when I do treat myself, I do not fill up as fast and it can cause me to have cravings. I consider myself a work in progress. 🙂

You are right. You do need to love yourself enough to make the changes, and you also deserve it. Sometimes it can be really hard to do what we need to do to put ourselves at the top of our priority list, but it is so important, and so gratifying when we do!

Good luck to you! I hope I can help you to find some foods that you think taste great and fill you up!

Have a Happy and Healthy Week!

    Julie

  4. Hi Jules, I just happened upon you in Pinterest! And, I am so glad that I did. After reading what you posted with such brave honesty, I know you are a inspiration to me!
My name is Debra, I have been fighting the Obese Battle for almost 45 years. I need to, I want to, and I have to shed this excess weight that is holding me down and stripping me of my joy! I am
over weight because of my Love Affair with Food. And, I so desperately need to love myself more
so that I can be alive to enjoy my 3 beautiful Grandchildren!

  5. Hi Dory,

It sounds like you have been through a lot over the last 4 years and it also sounds like you are doing a lot for yourself to make your life the best that it can be!

The blog has been the thing for me that has kept me accountable. I had no idea that when I started “journaling on line” that it would turn into something so important to me, and something that helps others along the way too! The blog has been a blessing to me.

I’m glad you tried the frothy coffee! I love a pretty coffee at home!

Thanks for reading and thank you for taking the time to comment!

    Have a great day!

  6. Hi Julie!
I’m so glad I found you!!!

Over the past 4 years I have gained 50+ pounds due to an injury, abusive administrator, and depression. I started counseling, started my masters, and I have been working hard to pull my emotional and spiritual self back together. Since the first of the year, I have been working on my physical self- started back on WW- I’m a lifetime member. I had previously maintained my target for six years.

Your blog is so real and so helpful! I am already trying some of your recipes- your foamy milk is my new weekend indulgence.

Thank you for sharing your struggles and your tips. Your blog is a great shot in the arm!
    🙂 Dory

  7. Hi Kim. Thanks for the compliment! I have thought about it, but I need to work on making easy to follow recipes with a little more instruction. I feel like I’m more of a…..throw this together….then add some of that…..then a little of this! Okay. Done. Eat it up!

I’ll put some more thought into that though.

    🙂

    Thanks!

  8. Hi Julie,
I love your blog! Your recipes are real, and you are an inspiration! Have you ever thought about putting together a recipe book (possibly an e-book)? 🙂

  9. Hi Kris!

Thanks so much for the friendly comment!

I’m glad you found the blog! I joined WW in 2009. I was FOUR pounds away from my goal in October last year, and then panicked and gained back a few pounds. So, I’m a work in progress. I’ve learned so much though from WW about eating healthy. I’ve met some amazing people, and I’ve learned a lot about myself and my relationship with food through journaling my story.

Congrats on giving up the Coke! Maybe you replaced your Coke with other calories and you didn’t realize it? Not sure though. My leader is awesome about looking at my food journal and figuring out unexpected gains, or no loss at all. Your leader should be able to help you. Hopefully you are lucky enough to have an awesome leader too!

    Thanks for reaching out!

Have a Healthy and Happy Day!

    Julie

  10. Hey there,
Just found you, you are so cute!
I just joined WW…and was wondering how long have you been doing it? I recently gave up drinking Coke, and got that under control before I ventured to WW. A month off, and surprisingly, no weight loss!
So happy to have found this website and am hoping for a community of other people with the same lifestyle. Would love to be able to check in and see others progressing, that will motivate me!

    Thanks for being here!

    Kris

  11. I like your blog and find the recipes very real. Love the shredded Mexican chicken. I thought I saw a recipe for “Becky’s Zucchini Soup” which you pour over the chicken. Today I can’t find that recipe. Did I dream this recipe?

  12. I love it when I get a comment like this. First of all, me being 47, I think it’s great that your 25 year old daughter sent you the link to my blog. Makes me feel like I am relatable to 20 something’s 30 something’s, 40 something’s, 50 something’s and so on. At any age, what we all really want is to be healthy and to be able to find easy meal ideas that will help us to do just that!

That is awesome that you joined the Y! Good job for making that step! Big congrats on your 18 pound weight loss!

Thanks for reaching out and commenting on the blog. Those comments always mean a lot to me!

Have a Great and Healthy Week!

    Julie

  13. Hi Julie! My daughter who is 25 sent me the link to your blog. I think I’m going to love it! We seem to have a lot in common and you are a real inspiration. Reading about you and your daughter signing up for the 5K made me think that maybe I should do something similar with my daughter!
I’m 56 and joined WW this year in the middle of January. I weighed to most I’ve ever weighed (220) and decided I HAD to join, for my health. I have a 8 month of granddaughter and I want to be able to keep up with her!!
I’ve joined WW many times before and even reached my goal weight, but that was 24 years ago after the birth of my daughter. This time I feel different, like my whole attitude has changed and I am NOT going to give up. I joined the YMCA the same weekend I joined WW. I have been doing something I never thought possible . . . I’ve actually been getting my butt out of bed and doing my workout at 7 am before I go to work!! I live in Wisconsin and some of the days when I went it was below zero. In the past, I have never been able to keep to a regular exercise program because I would put it off and think I’d do it after work. Of course something would always keep me from going. Now I go three times a week and LOVE it!! I’m starting out slow and will eventually add another day to the routine. So far I have lost 18 pounds and can feel the difference already.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your journey (and recipes) 🙂

  14. I currently am eating the “Mission” brand. It’s the small tortilla. I think most of the brand’s of corn tortilla’s in the small size are 1 PointsPlus. I’d eat em with just about ANYTHING!!

🙂 Thanks for reading the blog!

  15. I found your blog and as a WW’er myself love it. I do have a question, what corn tortilla do u use and how many points are they! You sincerely inspire me!

  16. I’m glad you found me Allison. I’m a huge fan of WW. I really believe it’s an education in healthy eating and living. Good Luck on your own Weight Watcher journey! I hope you find some ideas here that will help you along the way!

  17. Hi Jules! I stumbled across your page yesterday and I am impressed that you are willing to share your story to encourage others. I am just starting out on WW I tried last Spring and gave up way too soon so I guess I’m out searching the web for real life sucess stories to try to get me motivated from the inside to keep going. Thanks for sharing your story!

  18. Thank you Kim! I greatly appreciate the compliment, the encouragement, and the fact that you read my blog and give me great feedback. It really means a lot to me. 🙂 Thanks sweetie!
