100 Random Things About Me

I couldn’t sleep last night. I’m certain I was thinking about what I had and HAD NOT packed??? I got out of bed and spent some time reading some of my favorite blogs. I recently discovered Roni. She is quite the inspiration. Her blog has a LOT of information and last night I spent a little more time looking around her blog to see what all she had to say. Click HERE to check it our for yourself! One of things I found on her blog that I liked, was “100 Random Things About Me”. I’ve done the “25 Random Things About Me” before, but 100 seemed like a challenge, and she challenged her readers to do it. I was wide awake……so…… It seemed like a light hearted way to start my vacation.   1. I think about my weight everyday, and have as long as I can remember. 2. […]

Sunday Chores and Pancakes!

It was a fairly typical Sunday for me. Nothing exciting. Sleeping in, house cleaning, breakfast……and OH YEAH!! Packing to go to Cancun in TWO days!!!! I think I’m ready! After packing, I had a few more things on my “to do list”, one of which included exercise. I was struggling to get on the treadmill yesterday afternoon. I finally got ON the treadmill. Then I messed with my phone while literally standing on the belt. I finally turned ON the treadmill and walked at a pace of 2.0 mph while playing on my phone…..for almost 20 minutes!! Then I started my 5K training app. I watched the Olympics while I did my treadmill workout. Watching all of those incredible athletes with ridiculous endurance was quite a motivator for my workout. I stayed on the treadmill an additional 20 minutes and it ended up being a great workout! What motivates you […]

A Quiet Saturday….

Typically, a couple of weeks before we leave on vacation, (yes, I know this is ridiculous) I have planned out my packing. I have outfits organized and a few list made up of last minute things that I need to buy, and do. I had NOT done any of that until yesterday. Kate ended up having friends take her home that had planned on spending time with her at her house yesterday anyway, so I had the day to get a few things done. I planned outfits, took pictures of my planned outfits (I think this is genius and really don’t understand why everyone doesn’t do this), and made nice little stacks of clothes on my bathroom floor. Planning my outfits, eliminates taking a lot of clothes that I won’t wear! Today is all about errands and likely a ‘list” overload, but I’ll feel organized. 🙂   Breakfast 1 Egg, […]

Friday’s Food and a few thoughts….

Lots going on today. We might be helping Kate get home this afternoon with baby Charlotte, and I still need to shovel her car out of the driveway, so I’m keeping this short today. I didn’t make it to my WW meeting yesterday morning. I was sleeping…… I did not weigh this morning when I woke up. I feel a little puffy. We leave Wednesday for the beach and I am really looking forward to vacation. I bought new swimsuits for this trip and I went through my closet briefly the other day looking at a few things to wear in the evenings. The scale can really do a number on my mood, so I likely will not weigh before we leave. I feel good right now, and I’d like to continue feeling good the remainder of the days here before we leave. I plan to exercise on vacation (beach […]

I’d Like to Introduce You to……..

Charlotte Anne  Born on February 6th at 4:58 p.m. 7 pounds, 5 ounces 20″ Long     This is her mom, Kate. (and me!)   I don’t think I can put into words today all of the emotions that I have experienced over the last few days. A few days before Charlotte was born, I found out that I was going to get to be IN the delivery room with Kate! I was super excited, but I kept reminding myself that things might change, there might be too many people around, we might be over the limit on people allowed in the room, who knows…… I tried to not let myself get over excited. Kate spent the night at our house, along with our Daughter-In-Law, Jordan, the night before Charlotte was born, which we will forever refer to now…..as Charlotte’s Eve. The weather hadn’t cooperated too much, and it seemed […]

Blueberry Pancakes

It was another Snow Day……which meant fighting staying away from the pantry. While pondering what all I would get done for the day (and knowing shoveling would fall into the day somewhere for activity points) a girlfriend called to see if I wanted to go Four Wheeling!! You Betcha!! Okay, actually she called to say that she was getting out of the house in her pick up, and would I like to join her? So I did! We ran a few errands, had lunch out, then came home to shovel. But before any of that happened….I made these!    So, like I said….pulse just a few times. Too much pulsing makes for runny batter…..   Should look kinda bubbly…..   Pour onto heated skillet sprayed with nonstick cooking spray, and add a few blueberries to the top of each pancake. Cook for about 3 minutes. I only cooked two at […]

Snow Day!!!

A “Snow Day” has had a lot of different meanings throughout my life. When I was a kid, a “Snow Day” was a really big deal and an unexpected day of fun! As a mom, a “Snow Day” meant I had to use a vacation day to stay home with Tess, but still, an unexpected day of fun…..now, a “Snow Day” basically means….. the floors are going to be a mess after the dogs go in and out all day long….. But for some strange reason, I still feel a little excitement inside me when our school district rolls across the bottom of the TV screen. Maybe that feeling never goes away. Maybe I’m just weird.   After Mike and I took Kate to the hospital yesterday in the crazy snow, (for one last check up before she deliver’s baby Charlotte on Thursday), we stayed in and had soup and hot […]

Plan, Plan and then Plan Some More…..

I enjoyed a gorgeous and beautiful 73 degree Friday afternoon in Dallas, and came home to an icy 18 degree Monday in Kansas City. The last 24 hours have been a bit of a whirlwind! First of all, I have rear wheel drive and if we had the snow on the ground yesterday, that we have now, I never would have made it home from the airport! So thankful the snow waited for me to get safely home….. Now, to the big stuff. Our daughter, Kate, was scheduled to go to the hospital Wednesday morning to be induced! Baby Charlotte is on her way!! Due to the arctic blizzard predictions, the Doctor thought it best to delay things until Thursday. Knowing what the weather predictions were…. and the drive Kate had to the hospital, we all decided that it would be best if she came here on Monday and spent […]

A Sunny Day in Dallas!

Let me start with……I spent over an hour and a half yesterday morning writing my blog. I talked about The Life Changing Loaf of Bread that I made on Thursday. I’ll tell you more about it next week when I make it again! I talked about how much fun I had at the airport while I was waiting for Tess to pick me up when she got off work. I inadvertently was talking about my daughters’ love of football because there was a lot of Super Bowl chat around the bar. After the 31 year old lawyer beside me, (that does live in Dallas) expressed interest in my daughter, I took that opportunity to give him a great “Mom” quiz about what kind of a guy he was?? After the questioning, and the other guys around the bar jumping in with questions of their own, (thank you friendly strangers at […]
