Oprah’s 2020 Vision

Oprah’s 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus (a partnership with WW) is touring in 9 major cities and began on January 5th with Lady Gaga as the special guest in Ft. Lauderdale. The tour ends on March 7th in Denver with Gayle King as the special guest. On February 15th, I went to see Oprah at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, along with 17,000 other people. I was interested to see how Oprah was going to inspire and encourage the 17,000 attendees to live their best life. Her guest for the day was Tracee Ellis Ross, star of Blackish and daughter of Diana Ross. She was great! The day was filled with upbeat energetic music, Oprah sharing her own WW journey along with past weight loss and weight gain stories, an awesome interview with special guest Tracee Ellis Ross, a high energy short dance class led by Julianne Hough […]

My “2020” Word

I like this idea and I am asking WW members in the workshops if they choose a word for the year and many of them do! I put this question on Instagram stories and these are just a few of the great words people are using. I’ve really been putting some thought into my word for the year. Choosing Gratitude and then adding Mindful really worked well for me last year. I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to get out of this year and I now have my word. “Create“ I’d like to I am going to (ya see what I did there?) create spaces for relaxing, create routines for activity and bedtime, create art, create activities to do with the family and create boundaries in several different areas of my life. This feels really good to think through. If you haven’t done it, go ahead and give it […]

Celebrating 10 Years on WW

Ten years ago today, I walked into a Weight Watchers location (for my seventh time) weighing more than I had ever weighed. I was 42 years old. I had made up my mind that from that day forward I would forever be a WW member. I would surround myself with like minded people and I would take care of myself. I was overweight, I was depressed and I was lost. I had put myself and my health at the bottom of the priority list and I knew that had to change, forever. Ten years later I am feeling better than ever. I’m so thankful for all that WW has taught me. I’m so happy to now be employed by WW and truly be surrounded by like minded people. I’ve learned so much about myself and I’m so happy for the decision that I made a decade ago. I had no idea […]

June and Gratitude

What a great month it was. I chose a “word” for the year at the beginning of 2019. My word is “Mindful”. I also went into 2019 knowing for a fact that the year would bring many wonderful things for me and my family, A few weeks back at the WW Studios the topic was Gratitude. I love this topic. I love discussing my passion for the word “gratitude” and how practicing gratitude can impact your daily life and your health and happiness. I feel like I have regularly practiced gratitude for a really long time. It’s what gets me through the tough stuff, big and small, and keeps me living life with a positive attitude. I’m grateful for so many things on a daily basis. Grateful for family and friends, a job, a roof over my head, fresh water at my fingertips, the opportunity to buy and prepare delicious food, […]

A Happy Place

I am happy to report that life is pretty awesome right now. I’ve determined that I need to “not commit” to when I will be able to post a blog. When it can happen, it will happen. I am going back to where I was at the beginning of this blog in 2011. This is my journal. I come here when I need to write. If sharing my day to day life, hobbies, experiences, struggles and challenges, successes, can help someone, then I am extremely grateful for that. There are many of you that have followed me for a very long time and I think about you when I am not blogging. I feel connected and obligated to many of you. I feel guilty for not blogging because I feel as though I have been a support source for you as I blog through my own experiences. I am a people […]

Goals Set, Goals Met

(I am healing really well and am pleased with my recent phase of breast reconstruction. I am happy to say that I have zero regrets!) I knew that 2019 would bring a fabulous wedding (pictures are coming…..soon!) and I truly hoped that it would bring a Vintage Camper too. Goals set. Goals met! I’ve watched my dad enjoy his vintage camper since 2016 and joining him seemed like a great way to spend time together. We spent a lot of time on projects together when I was a kid. I would have much rather have been outside building something than inside cooking. Funny, now I love to cook! I always enjoyed listening to my dad tell stories and watch his creativity over the years. He was always building something when I was a kid and he has continued to do that his entire life. Finding a vintage trailer so I […]

Mindfully Living. Being Present.

I wrote a really long and boring post detailing my 2018 Year in Review. I spent a gazillion hours writing it. After reading through it, I realized it was just for me. You’re welcome. I’ll hang on to it for myself (It was actually quite therapeutic for me to see how far I’ve come in a year!) and I’ll share with you why I chose the title that I did for this blog post, some of what I’ve been cooking in the kitchen, a few things I’ve had to eat out and I’ll share a link to the Free 30 Day Yoga Challenge that I’m doing. I chose the word Gratitude for the year. I didn’t even know I was going to chose a word, but that word had been with me in a powerful way since early November, and keeping it with me in a very mindful way, seemed like […]

WW

Are you ready for WW? Last Monday, Weight Watchers publicly announced that they were changing their name to WW. That is not an acronym. That is simply the new name of the company. Tagline? Wellness that Works.   I am so excited to be a part of this company during this rebranding.  Stay tuned, because there is more exciting news to come over the next several days. FYI….Freestyle is not changing and SmartPoints are not changing. Are you a WW member? Do you have questions? Please comment here on the blog with any questions you have or feel free to send me an email. julesfarm@yahoo.com   When WW went to Beyond The Scale a few years back, I was ecstatic to see them incorporating the importance of all of the areas of health that included so much more than just the number on the scale. It felt very personal to me. I […]

My Knee, My Job & My Journey

These Dang Knees My mind….35ish My Body…. apparently 80-90ish?? My Actual Age….51. 🙄🙄🙄 This past Thursday I had my 8 week post op appointment. My knee is healing well and I’m on track with PT. I go 2-3 times a week for PT, then do about 30 minutes each day at home. PT continues through October. The biggest problem that I am having is my good knee. Or should I just say, my left knee. Do I have a good knee? Going back 8 weeks. I had a cortisone shot in each knee. The very next day my meniscus snapped in my right knee. So, surgery. During surgery they discovered that I had osteoarthritis that did not show in the MRI, so he performed micro fracture surgery. Two weeks after surgery, I had another cortisone shot in the left knee, the good knee. Whatever that means. That lasted about 10 days. My […]
