An Unbelievable Vacation!

Unbelievably good, and some parts…….Unbelievably bad. But truly in the end……… Unbelievably FUN! What you are about to read is true. This story is based on the actual events that took place over the last 7 days. The names used in this story are real. On Wednesday morning we left at 4:30 am to go to the airport. Once there, we would meet up with Dick and Laura, and Buck and Becky. We were going to the Hard Rock Cafe in the Dominican Republic, where we would meet up with Jim and Melissa for an adventure filled week of fun (and other adventures as well, not so fun). Our first flight into Charlotte was completely uneventful, so for excitement, I reclined my seat, and then put it in it’s upright position as many times as possible just to annoy Dick, who was seated behind me. The second flight into the […]

We’re Going On Vacation!!!!

We are lucky to have a great group of friends that we have been vacationing with for the last few years. We’ve been to Mexico a couple of times with this group of friends, we’ve been to Memphis and Nashville with this group, we’ve been to the lake, and last year, we all took a trip to the Dominican Republic, and stayed at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino! We had an awesome vacation, but we also had a little unfortunate situation that led to us getting our money back AND…..getting a Free Vacation this year!!! You can read all about last year’s vacation HERE! All I can think about now is doing this again……     and maybe a little of this….   Vacation is a great time to enjoy some peace, not think about the stresses at home, and just relax. But I know on vacation, when I’m […]

Lots of Fun, Little Sleep

Not the healthiest weekend, but super fun! Friday morning started off with my WW meeting, then I took my husband on a lunch date, something we rarely do, but should do more often. After that, I ran errands the rest of the day doing some grocery shopping, and finding a few fun accessories for my newly decorated “Exercise Room”.  It’s almost done. I hope to buy a TV today! I got home Friday afternoon just in time to make up a big pot of soup for Mike for dinner, then I was off to a friend’s house for a Girl’s Night, celebrating the birthdays of a couple of friends. It was a really fun and late night with these crazy girls.   Saturday, I woke up and hurried to get dressed in order to meet my mom and niece for breakfast at 9:30 to celebrate my nieces birthday. Before I headed out, I […]

I Welcome You, 2014!

For the last FOUR years, I have been truly super excited about the previous year, and really looking forward to the year that was ahead. I consider myself to be an optimist and I feel like I am full of positive thoughts. I always seem to be planning my next move, whether it be a social outing, a trip, a change in exercise routine, my next blog post or what new food I’m thinking about trying. Honestly, right now, my mind feels a little blank. 2013 was odd. I spent a lot of 2013 reflecting. I have NOT spent a lot of time reflecting recently about the year as a whole. A ton of great things happen during the year! I made a lot of progress in my personal goals and in my health. Great things happened for my family. But for me, the year was full of things that […]

A Nashville Weekend!

A long weekend at the Lake just wasn’t enough of a break from life, so we’re heading to Nashville! Actually this trip was planned about two weeks after coming home from the Dominican Republic in January. If you forgot how awesome that trip was, or if you missed that blog post, you might wanna get caught up on our travel adventures, and read all about it, HERE! As I recall, within just a few days time, we were in the process of filling out paperwork to collect insurance money for Mike’s wedding ring that was stolen while we were on vacation, and we were expecting Tess home from Dallas so we could purchase a car for her since she had been T-Boned and her car had been totaled, and I was debating rescheduling my surgery that was three days away, when my friend Laura called, then whispered into the phone…… […]

One of THOSE weeks!

It has been an emotional, crazy, busy week of unexpected events. These are the weeks I turn to food. I haven’t figured out why, but I think knowing it is at least a step in the right direction. My daughter and I went to Pittsburg, Kansas to move her from one apartment to another for next semester. We were so close to Joplin, and it was the day after the tornado, that we knew we couldn’t be that close and NOT do something to help. So we picked up some food and water and took it to Joplin to donate. The devastation of Joplin was truly horrifying. It’s still unbelievable to me to see such devastation, and know that there is nothing you can do to prevent it from happening. Two days later, we had our own Tornado Warning here in Overland Park. I was at the dentist office where we were all sent to the […]
