Today was my first big “No Drinking Day”. I wasn’t feeling as anxious about it as I thought I was going to, but more anxious about over eating while we all hung out and tailgated in the parking lot for a few hours. So I decided to try to eat smart, and as few points as possible before we left at 2:00 pm to PARTY! Eight of us climbed into a couple of cars and headed out to Arrowhead! As soon as we all climbed out of the car, we started setting up the grill, the snacks, and the coolers came out! Beers for everyone! I packed lots of bottles of water for me, and plenty to share. Any takers?? Nope. I swell up like crazy in the heat anyhow, so it felt good to know that wasn’t going to be an issue. We grilled, people watched, chatted….. (Worst Selfie […]
Month: June 2013
11 Weeks, 12.6 Pounds To Go!
I really thought after the food choices, and the exercise, my loss would be more than 1.4, but I’ll take it. Current Weight…..162.6 Breakfast (Forgot to take my picture before I ate, but it was a Starbuck’s Skinny Latte and Watermelon and Grapefruit in the parking lot after my WW Meeting. I NEVER eat before a weigh in!!) Lunch I waited WAY too long to eat lunch. It was after 2:00 by the time I was done with my Friday errands, and all I could think about was my leftover Veggie Mac and Cheese, but the Mac and Cheese part was all I was really thinking about!! This serving is 9 PPV! I put it in the microwave while I put away groceries and chopped up the salad I had made at the salad bar. Then I decided to just pick out the veggies and enjoy some of that cheesiness […]
Weight Watchers Power Foods!
Weight Watchers Power Foods are basically fruits and veggies, whole grains, fat free dairy and lean meats. Eggs too! If your daily meal plan includes a good variety of these foods, you are almost guaranteed weight loss, and rarely will you feel hungry. Most likely if you ARE hungry? It’s time for you to eat a Power Food or drink some water! I have made a real effort to get lots of Power Foods in this week and drink lots of water and get my exercise in. I know tomorrow’s weigh in will be a success!! I had my final Post-op with the Doc today, and all is well. I’m not 100%, but that can take 6 to 12 months, and I am at 4 months post-op. He did say to proceed with all normal activities that are pain free. Boot Camp is a no go yet, so I plan […]
Happy 14th Anniversary, House!!
Yip. It’s a date I can’t forget. June 12, 1999. Mike and I and our four kids moved into our house. Mike and I were married in May of 1999, and our kids were still in school. Mike and his kids lived in Raymore, Missouri. Tess and I lived in Olathe, Kansas. Our house wasn’t finished being built yet, so with school still in session and no house to move into, we were each still living in the duplexes we had rented after we each had sold our homes. So the first month that we were married, we didn’t even get to live together!! It was super weird. I remember calling Mike and saying something stupid like…. “Hello Husband. How are things at YOUR house today?” But then the house was done, school was out, and it was finally time for all of us to blend together under one roof. […]

You CAN’T, or You CHOOSE Not To?
I have to elaborate a bit on yesterdays post regarding my 12 Week Commitment to pass on the alcohol. I forgot to mention in yesterdays post an important part of my meeting with my coach on Sunday morning. She’s really good at seeing things in a different light. I do know that I can lose weight slowly and still enjoy the occasional beverage, but from journaling (blogging) and having a coach, I have really learned a lot about my own habits, good and bad, and I am also aware of the things that tempt me. One night of two harmless drinks for me, seems to lead to another night of three or four drinks and then a couple of slices of pizza, then regret about my S L O W weight loss. I just want to get to the end. I think it’s like with anything that we are told […]
I have a Real Mouthful Today…….
I met with my coach on Sunday morning to go over some details of how I can keep losing weight and reach my goal by August 30th. I knew the answer. I had thought about it, but I hadn’t yet really talked about it, or completely accepted the fact that it was really the answer. I had done it before, but not for this long of a period. It’s a big commitment. It’s a HUGE commitment. It’s longer than LENT!!!! After discussing things with my coach, and deciding to make the commitment, I told her I didn’t think I wanted to blog about it, but I wasn’t sure why, because I blog about everything, screw ups and all. She said that one of the reasons for me not wanting to blog about my 12 week commitment could be…….I am afraid that if I screw up, everyone that reads my blog […]
Bark N’ Blues
The Destination for Saturday? First? Breakfast…… ….then Tucker and I prepared to head out to the Second Annual“Bark N’ Blues” Festival for the afternoon with my dad. “Bark N’ Blues” is an event in a neighborhood park in Prairie Village, Kansas, organized to help unwanted pets and financially support area animal rescue organizations. We headed out to participate in some of the fun, play with other dogs, and listen to some good music! (Mishka would not be attending.) Look! A Doggie Food Truck! The owner said he is the only one in K.C. and I believe he said there only three Doggie Food Trucks in the nation!! Super Cute! And apparently tasty too! Tucker gobbled up his treat and I bought treats to take home to Mishka. She was pleased as well. Complimentary Water!! Tucker even made their Facebook Page with this photo!! Check out their Facebook Page, HERE Tucker […]
First Friday…..of Twelve
This is day one of my Twelve Weeks to Goal! 14 pounds to go! I had a super busy and accomplished Friday starting with….. Weight Watchers meeting, followed by a trip to Starbucks for some Oatmeal and blogging time, followed with a visit to the Physical Therapist, then grocery shopping, and THEN…..my first attempt at mowing since surgery. Success. After that, I finally decided to get started painting my grandma’s vintage sewing machine. I bought the paint months and months ago, and after spending lots of time sanding and debating what colors to paint it, I simply never got started painting…….until now. I’ll work more on it this afternoon. Now it needs some sanding for that nice distressed look. This is a learning process, so I really have no idea what to expect. This is a picture of the same machine that someone else did, using different colors….. So cute!!!! Today […]
Charts, Graphs, Facts……..
So, Nashville and Memorial Weekend at the lake caught up with me, and again I complain about the same thing, over and over and over again. And honestly, one of my GREATEST pet peeves is someone who complains over and over again about the same thing, and then doesn’t make the necessary changes to fix the problem. Drives me CRAZY!!! So here I am, doing EXACTLY what drives me crazy in other people. Today’s weight……164.0. When I brought in Roberta, my “coach” and “sponsor”, we made charts. I had 26 weeks to lose 23 pounds. I now have 12 weeks to lose 14 pounds, so I have lost weight, but not as rapidly as I need to in order to make my time line. Roberta had initially suggested, that in order to reach my goal, I should schedule only two times a month that I allow myself to drink “adult” […]
