I’m out the door to work the food truck in just a bit. It’s going to be close to 100 degrees today, so I’m super excited to be hanging out by the grill all day! Several months ago, I fell down the stairs. My heel caught the edge of the step on the landing, and down I went, about five steps to the hardwood. Well, I did it again. Rug burn on my arm, huge bruise on my butt, and a sore back. I think I’ll get on a plane, ride in a cab, spend the night with a stranger, and go hiking in the woods with the bears. For realz though, I’m so ready, but not ready at all. When your kid works for an airline, you fly free, and that’s awesome. When you fly free, you fly “Stand By” and you do carry on luggage. One bag for sight seeing? One […]

Time for an Adventure
It’s time for a little fun. I have a niece that is a traveler/adventurer/explorer, and I’ve always admired her eagerness and willingness to travel the states, alone. Isn’t she beautiful? She looks just like me! She has biked, hiked, hitch hiked, couch surfed and lived in several different places all over the county in her young life. I think that she may be one of the most interesting, and certainly one of the most courageous people that I know. I am proud to call her my niece. The handsome dude below, her brother, my nephew (duh) is currently working for the Peace Corps in Samoa, teaching English to grade school students. There is a traveling/adventurous gene in there somewhere that I greatly admire in both of them! My niece is currently working at Graylag Cabins in Pittsfield, NH, and I’ve decided that I need to go visit her so that we can spend […]
Great Weekend!
I took a short break from the blog for a few days, and now I’m ready to get back to my daily routine, for a few days anyhow. I’m taking a trip at the end of this week that I’ll talk about tomorrow, and I won’t be blogging while I’m gone. It’s been a great week, and we’ve been fairly social. I worked and sweated (a lot!) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the food truck with this crazy lady. Friday, at 1:00 pm, in likely the hottest part of the day, I decided to mow. The sweat doesn’t show up in this picture, but I almost died. For real. I went to my meeting Friday morning, and I’m up two pounds. I’ve definitely relied on food this last week while dealing with some emotions. When I don’t blog, it’s easier for me to eat too much and not […]
Faith Hope and Love
I wrote my last blog post on Sunday morning. Mike and I were on our way out the door with friends to go to brunch, and spend the day doing some fun things in Kansas City. We planned to check out the new Street Car downtown, go to Brunch, and maybe hit a few hot spot patios. We did all of those things and had a great day. When we got home, I was pooped and just wanted to veg on the couch and watch TV. After turning on the TV, we learned of the tragedy in Orlando. I’ve done a terrible job here of expressing my feelings, and this short post took me forever to write, but I’m finding it hard to write. With all that is going on in our country right now, sitting down to write a blog about my daily meals and exercise routine seems somehow […]
Weekend Summer Fun!
Friday I got my walk in before heading off to my WW meeting, so my exercise plan to get in one hour a day/5 days a week, is right on track. I walked 3 days, and went to Yoga two days. I’ve maintained 171 for two weeks. If you read regularly, you know my body loves 172, so I’m stupid giddy about a pound. Call me crazy. Friday night, Mike and I decided we’d have a little date night and have dinner out on a patio somewhere. Somewhere ended up being a mile up the street at Paddy O’Guigleys. It’s a little place on the inside, but outside, they have a really nice big patio with live music on the weekends. We ended up seeing several people we knew (cuz it’s right up the street!) and had a great night! I love a patio with live music, a cold beer […]
Happy Friday!
I ate breakfast out yesterday with a Wine Book Club friend, then had a productive day at home. We sat down at the restaurant and she just looked at me started laughing. She told me that she had to take my picture and to just go on looking at the menu. I was laughing at her laughing. She then showed me this picture. I got my walk in early this morning and now I’m out the door to my Weight Watcher’s Meeting. It’s been a great week and I’m looking forward to a great weekend! Here is what I ate yesterday. Breakfast – 14 SP Breakfast Taco’s. Corn Tortilla’s, Egg Whites with Jalapeño and Tomatoes, Lettuce, Salsa and 1/2 of those Potatoes. Skipped the sour cream. Un-Pictured Non Fat Latte Lunch – 10 SP Mixed Greens, Chicken, Diced Apple, Egg, Dried Cranberries and Vinaigrette Dinner – 9 […]
Book Club Shenanigans
Yesterday was one of those crazy, busy, fun days. I worked at the Food Truck, ran a few errands, and went to Hot Yoga at 6:30 pm. After Yoga, I respectfully changed out of my sweaty wet clothes and put on clean dry clothes (but did not shower) and hurried off to Wine Book Club. Everyone was chatty by the time I got there and we had a great time catching up with one another. I quit Book Club at the end of last year, and I keep forgetting that I decided to rejoin, so I’m not sure what books we were to read this quarter. We were kicked out of Wine Book Club (dang it!) at 10:00 pm by the hostess due to an early morning flight that she had to catch. We moved to another house to continue our discussion. Within minutes of arriving at our second house, a […]
Accountabillabuddy?
I’m not sure how to spell “Accountabillabuddy”, but I really like the word! While watching Good Morning America this morning, they did a segment on exercising and the importance of having a partner to exercise with. “Accountabillabuddy”! I like the word and I like having an exercise buddy. I know from my own personal experience that having an Accountabillabuddy works for me. I am much more apt to get out the door if I am meeting someone to exercise with. I feel like the time goes by much faster when exercising with a partner. If I am walking, and my walking partner has a faster pace than myself, that pushes me to work a little harder. A buddy might also introduce new things to your exercise routine that you may not have thought of otherwise. Like when Becky made me buy roller blades, or run those dang bleachers at the high school! A […]
Big Band Style
We had the best date night last night! My brother-in-law plays the saxophone and let me just say that…he is awesome. He played Ave Maria at our wedding 17 years ago and everyone cried. Our dads were the worst. Tears a flowing! Ahhh…memories. Last night he played in a Big Band at an Italian Restaurant. Imagine…a crowd of couples in their 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, smells of Meatballs and Lasagna, a full dance floor and a stage in the middle of the restaurant with a 15 member Big Band. That was our night last night and I loved it! We had a rather large party, so we were seated at the largest table that they had, which happened to be right beside the band. I could have reached out and played the drums, and a huge part of me wanted to! I felt like we were in New York in the 40’s, […]
Simple Sunday
When I wake up, the first thing I think about is coffee on the deck while my pups do their business. After a quick cup yesterday, I knew I wanted to get out and about. I threw on some sweats and a hat and Mike and I were out the door before 8:00 in search of breakfast. After breakfast and a little chat over coffee, we took a drive in the hubs new toy. We drove forever. I loved it. Cranked up tunes, top down (the car, not mine. I think that’s illegal!) sunshine, and no place we really had to be. That doesn’t happen much and we really need to allow it to happen more often. I love a drive with the music turned up and the wind blowing like crazy. It’s been something I’ve enjoyed since I first started driving as a teenager. Some weird liberating feeling comes […]
