Date Night…at Home

If I could always hold on to the memory of what taking a long walk does for my mood and energy level, I would likely walk hundreds and hundreds of miles. Hundreds! Note to self: Long walks make you really really happy.

Within 10 minutes of heading down the sidewalk yesterday afternoon, I had an incredible burst of energy and happy thoughts.

I came home, cranked up the tunes (when I’m home alone, I love to have the music playing loud and I will almost always choose music over tv) poured myself a glass of wine and danced in the kitchen. Dance like nobody’s watching? Yeah, that kinda dancing.

I don’t remember how I heard about this DJ on Instagram, but he started hosting live dance parties on Instagram shortly after the stay at home orders went into place. Several celebrities tuned in and were talking the next couple of days about what a great boost for moral it was for people feeling stuck at home. At some point last night there were over 14K people on there and I was dancing with all of them. I don’t know how often he’ll be doing this, but I’ll be dancing with him again!

After a simple and yummy BBQ Chicken dinner, Mike and I decided to have a game night. We played three games of ping pong, four games of darts and one game of foosball.

When I made the chalk-wall in the basement, I thought it would make a great place to keep score of games played, and last night we finally put that chalkboard to use for that!

Yesterday……no snacks in between meals and 80 oz of water. Two workshops in the morning, an afternoon employee meeting and chores around the house in between kept me busy and that always helps me to keep from snacking. Drinking lots of water also keeps me full so I find myself wanting to snack less.

Breakfast

I love this easy breakfast bowl. Steelcut Oats topped with blueberries (I microwave frozen berries for 1 minute), banana slices and 1 T of Nut Butter. Comfort food the healthy way.

Lunch

An ugly picture of some tasty leftovers. Caulirice Fried Rice with Macadamia Nuts.

Dinner

Grilled BBQ Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs (maybe my favorite thing on the grill….ever) and a few veggies

Today is Saturday in case you needed to know. Are your days just blending together? Your weeks all seem like the same day? I hope you’re showering. Sometimes, I forget.

As I open my email and read your post I am reminded – thank you very much – that I am still in pajamas, haven’t done much except eat and realized that today is Saturday! Oh boy time to get moving. Thank you!! PS. I was on the live dance music last night too. Dnice is his name. Simply awesome. Cheers for an amazing weekend.

  3. Hi Julie, what is the account on instagram for the music? Thanks and I’ll “see” you Wednesday

  4. Nancy, I absolutely love this! I am excited to hear what you whip up in the kitchen!

  5. You are right about motivating us with your postings–now I’m going to look for a recipe to fix and make a meal instead of just eating a banana and a turkey sandwich for my big meal of the day.
