Paint Therapy

After my Friday morning workshops I headed over to Effie with an idea and a paint brush. I’ve always loved to paint. Walls. Canvas. I have so many little paintings on canvas stashed away in a closet where I’d spent an afternoon playing with different colors and brushes. I’ve always found it to be extremely therapeutic. And…..it’s just paint. I know if I paint a wall and hate it, I can always paint it again. I’ve had several ideas that did not go well at all, and others ideas that evolved as I was painting that I was super pleased with. I just enjoy the time spent painting. It becomes the focus and any troubles or worries seem to fade in that moment.

That backsplash behind me? I’ve never liked it. Someone painted it I would imagine in an attempt to match the vintage sink and stove, but to me it looks like they tried to match it and didn’t, so now it just sticks out to me as…….wrong? Maybe someone else likes to paint and play like myself and this one just doesn’t do it for me. I pondered. Silver? I’ve seen some of that textured faux tiles in silver to look like tin and it is sooooo cute. I debated replacing it, but after looking into that, I would have to dismantle the entire wall. I’m not a fan of the big projects. White? That would look so clean and fresh but likely get super dirty while cooking. I have lots of cans of gray paint around the house since I’m all gray and white the last few years, so without having to buy anything, I took my brush and gray paint over to play in Effie.

Before and After. There doesn’t appear to be much difference in this picture, but in person I do like the gray much better.

I had quite a bit of contact paper left on a roll that I had purchased to line the drawers and cabinets with. I decided to put it to use and I did a small area above the sink. I think it’s super cute.

Then I just went whacko with the remaining contact paper.

Each time I lay on that bed, I think….There should be something cute here to look at.

Hopefully when I go back over there the contact paper is still up. I completely forgot to wash any of the services that I applied it to. If it’s not up still, no biggie, it looked super cute for a day.

Breakfast

Coffee and Almond Milk

Lunch

Two Good Vanilla Yogurt with Blueberries and Almond Butter. Raw Unsalted Cashews and Dried Cherries.

Dinner

Not super appealing, but quick! These carrots are much like the Potatoes and Onions I’ve shared from Trader Joe’s. They are frozen and you simply dump them into a heated skillet and stir until desired crispiness. Chicken Sausages on Sara Lee 80 Calorie Buns.

We are spending the day doing yard work. Lots of areas to mulch. Mike is guesstimating 50 bags. I think more like 60. We’ll see. Should earn lots of fitpoints today! I’ve already made up Turkey Burger patties and I have Chicken Thighs ready to grill. Trying to think of something yummy to go with those. Corn on the cob? Maybe. Huge salad? That sounds good too.

What are you eating today?

How are you spending your day?

As I was looking at the WW wine glasses and the WW Water bottle, it was a good reminder that you really can have it all. Stay hydrated. Enjoy your wine. Take good care of yourself. Give yourself Grace. It’s all about balance and variety and making it a lifestyle.

Go be your amazing self! Happy Saturday!

  1. Painting is cheap therapy and cheap remodeling. My son says my house will never fall dow. As I’ve painted every room at least 3 times in 19 years 😊😊

  2. Thanks Nancy. I absolutely love the gray rug and I’m so happy that I switched it out. The white one looks cute in my office at home. Yes, I am looking this week into campgrounds that will be open soon and planning a trip!

  3. I don’t remember you telling me you bought an RV! That’s super exciting. Just think, one day we will plan a trip and will meet in the middle of you and I somewhere. It already gives me something to look forward to. I didn’t see you had to leave but one of my coworkers told me that you did. I will miss having you as it has been such a nice part of my day to see your smiling face and get to chat with you and hear your voice. I guess we can still zoom after life goes back to normal? Have a great weekend! Look forward to seeing you soon.

  4. I love the changes to Effie. Ive always admired the tin backsplash you have – but didn’t notice the color off ! But of course they grey looks great, and especially love the contact paper touches. Brian and I just purchased a used motorhome (cant remember if I told you, but he flew to KC to pick it up and drove it back here in early January – how he timed it between two snow storms, I’ll never know! But it has ugly, ugly BROWN-Old-Fashioned wall paper as a back splash and looking for something to update it! So, so sorry I had to leave your WW in the middle on Thursday. I absolutely love your mtgs and and I’m so going to miss them when I go back to work. During that mtg my boss was requesting a call, so unfortunately, I had to leave. Until next time! Hugs, Ronda

  5. I still like the gray rug and basket the best.
You’ll be able to use Effie soon as camp grounds are beginning to open.
Oh, a grilled brat would be so good right now.
