Mulch. Mow. Trim.

Yesterday all fitpoints came from yard work. Just over 10K steps and lots of lifting. We mulched, mowed, trimmed, pulled weeds. You know. The regular spring yard clean up! Maybe flowers next weekend.

I unloaded all 40 bags and delivered them to wherever the boss wanted them and he did the spreading.

The deck was finished on the weekend of March 1st and none of the trees had their leaves. I imagined how cozy and private it would feel when they did. Now May 1, we are surrounded by full trees and I am so happy out here.

Before the yard work began yesterday, we had a pretty relaxing morning that included lots of coffee and eventually food.

I was going through the freezer deciding what we would be eating for the next couple of days and found a box of spinach. I only buy that for a recipe and I guess I never did make whatever I had bought it for. I decided to take it out to thaw and use for something.

I cooked up some center cut bacon. I cooked onions in just a little of the bacon fat, then added some of the spinach and bacon pieces.

Made a really yummy omelette with a little white cheddar to finish it off.

After all of that yard work and no lunch, we were both starving. It looks like I’m cooking for a family of six! Turkey Burgers with Cheddar, BBQ Chicken Thighs and Asparagus.

We ended the evening on the deck having dinner and watching the Kansas City Chiefs win Super Bowl LIV. That never gets old.

  1. It does have a lake feel and I wouldn’t hate having a little pond down below 😊 Bacon is everything. That is all. 🤣

  2. One year while my son and DIL were living in OK, we spent several days at the Lake of the Ozarks, renting a house on the lake – it looks EXACTLY like your back yard (well, minus the water…) with all the green trees. So pretty.

We have chicken out defrosting for tonight. We too, had bacon for brek-kers. Bacon fat and onions…. you could add anything to that and it would be good!

    Have a great week!
