Lifestyle Balance Variety

Three of my favorite words when it comes to my health.

I’ll get to these kabobs in just a sec.

Lifestyle

Knowing this is a lifestyle and not a diet makes this doable for me long term. Thinking about being on a diet for life sounds overwhelming, hard and unrealistic. If I have a day where I don’t make the best choices, I know I’m not ruining my diet, I now that I haven’t failed, I didn’t screw everything up and I don’t need to start over. I had a day where I didn’t make the best choices. I’m normal. I’m human. I’m imperfect. I’m aware. I’ve become very mindful of how what I eat affects how I feel. Knowing that makes those days where I don’t make the best choices, fewer and further between. I also know that I’ll have more days where I eat something just because it taste amazing and that’s okay.

Balance

I like knowing that I can eat whatever I want. Give me all the avocado and full fat cheese with my veggies and protein! You really can have your cake and eat it too, (which I’ve always thought was a dumb thing to say, but I said it) as long as you’re paying attention to the other foods your’e enjoying with it. Tracking and taking pictures of my food has proved to be extremely helpful in finding balance. Both visuals work great for me.

Variety

I love structure and routine, but I get bored easily and like to switch things up. Enjoying a variety of foods and activity keeps things exciting and makes it easier for me to continue on this journey.

I end almost every Instagram post with these three words as a reminder to myself of what they do for me.

#lifestyle #balance #variety

Enjoying a little variety the last few days with food and activity while trying to keep things interesting.

Before grocery shopping yesterday, I opened the fridge for my first meal of the day and the two things that I saw were the leftover marinara and the carton of eggs. Then I remembered, THAT’S A THING! I had something similar for the first time on a specials menu at a First Watch restaurant and I loved it!

Eggs Poached in Marinara Sauce I have not made this linked recipe, but it looks fairly simple if you’d like to give it a try.

I simply poached eggs using my ancient microwave egg poacher and served them over a bed of Skinnytaste Marinara with a little parmesan.

Who has this ancient kitchen tool? 45-60 seconds for poached eggs!

Have you ever tried Italian Eggs?

Medjool dates. My current favorites are these that I buy at Costco. So dang good!

These Grilled Chicken-Vegetable Kabobs with Tzatziki were just as good as they look!

I’ve linked them but you can also find them in the WW App if you’re a member.

I’m not sure what I enjoyed more, taking these pictures or eating them. Kabobs can be a bit time consuming but I’m totally making these again! The sauce (pictured below with dinner) was really easy and oh so good.

I’m digging into the FitOn App this week! I tried three more classes yesterday and I liked them all!

Sometimes my variety in activity means switching up the view. Walk a new trail, take a different route. Yesterday I took my activity to the deck.

Do you like to switch things up or do you prefer sticking with something you are comfortable with?

We all gotta do our own thing, so whether you like to switch it up or stick with a routine you’re comfortable with, the important thing is to know what is working for you.

YOU do YOU.

I finally went to the store. I hated it. Going to try shopping online and do a pick-up today.

Brunch

Poached Eggs with Marinara and Parmesan

Snack

Heaven in a date. Medjool Date with 1 tsp Mixed Nut Butter from Trader Joe’s.

Dinner

Chicken Kabobs with Tzatziki Sauce.

This sauce was surprisingly good! Nonfat Greek Yogurt, Cucumber, Mint, Garlic, Salt and Pepper. I couldn’t find mint at the store and I thought this was amazing without it.

Lifestyle, Balance, Variety
