I arrived with my friend, Ashli, in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona yesterday and I am so happy I came on this trip! The view from the resort is beautiful. I’ll take lots of pictures today, and post them tomorrow! Ashli is here on a business trip, and she invited me to come along. There are about 150 women here for a women’s conference and they have a full schedule today and tomorrow! Yesterday was a challenge, and I didn’t do as well on my points as I had hoped. Breakfast was smart, lots of protein with egg whites and greek yogurt. Lunch was pretty smart as well. We were sitting around the pool and the menu that they offered had lots of healthy options. We went with the Mahi Mahi Taco’s on corn tortilla’s, and Ashli and I shared the order. While sitting poolside and having lunch, we had a Mia […]

Scottsdale? Sure!
I’m on my way to the airport this morning nice and early for a last minute get away! Since my daughter, Tess, started working for Southwest Airlines, Mike and I, as her parents, have enjoyed the benefits of “Parents Fly for Free!”. We are required to fly stand by, and we have learned to fly with a relaxed attitude since we might not get on the flight that we prefer. We’ve taken several trips using our “free flights”, and so far, each trip that we’ve taken has worked out perfectly! Tess say’s that we’ve been really lucky! A few weeks ago, a friend of mine mentioned a business trip that she was going to be taking to Scottsdale, Arizona. After chatting for a bit, she told me that I should just hop on one of those free flights and go with her and stay in her room for free, then […]
Planning for the Challenges….
It was another successful day with challenges, and the planning paid off! This is a really detailed blog of how I got through yesterday, but I feel really focused because I have so much going on, and I don’t want a gain this week! My plan for this busy week is to earn a lot of activity points, and have them available to me. I plan to dip into my 49 Weekly points, because I know with all of the socializing I’ll be doing this week, I’ll need them. Maybe blogging about every detail of every food decision, might help someone else get through a challenging day or week as well, so forgive the detail…. I was getting together with my mom and my aunt at my aunt’s house yesterday, and I knew she planned to have coffee and bagels. She was sweet enough to call me and ask me […]
Successful Halloween….
I woke up Friday morning knowing I needed to have a really good day. I’ve not been “On Plan” the last several day, and by a good day, I mean I needed to stay within my points, not eat ANY candy, and have limited or no alcohol. Candy is a huge trigger food for me, and typically at Halloween, I’ve learned to buy candy that I don’t care for, Skittles, Starburst, the fruit stuff…NO CHOCOLATE! What did I buy this year? We had THREE Trick or Treaters last night! I have a huge bowl of chocolate bars in my house, and I didn’t eat ANY of them yesterday! After posting my blog, I think I’ll put a post on Facebook! “I’m taking Trick or Treater’s today too! No costume necessary!” After my WW meeting, I met a girlfriend at one of our big parks and we took an awesome 6.5 […]
Happy Halloween!
October has been a really full and fun month with the KC Royals winning the playoffs and advancing to the World Series! What an awesome month of baseball. We also had a lot going on socially and I got to enjoy my daughter Tess being in town for almost a full week! That being said, I’ve just been a really crappy Weight Watcher member as of late. I’ve drank too much, I’ve ordered food items when eating out that I don’t typically order, and I’ve lacked on my exercise. September was such an awesome month with my 100 Mile Walking Challenge, and I liked what the scale was doing. I got on the scale yesterday morning, and it was actually less than I was expecting, so like an idiot, instead of taking advantage of that and feeling like I had a head-start on my new weight watchers week, I ate […]
Let’s Go Royals…..Clap Clap…. Clap Clap Clap!
(revised 10-29-14 with banana snack that I forgot about!) That’s the chant you will hear all throughout the Royals games at Kauffman Stadium. If you’re a baseball fan, heck, even if you’re NOT a baseball fan, you likely know that the KC Royals won game 6 (10-0!) of the World Series last night. That means we are now 3 and 3 in the series with the Giants, which means we will be playing Game 7 tonight to become the World Series Champions of 2014!! This has been such an exciting time in Kansas City! Fountains around the city have Blue water…. ……T-shirt stands are set up on corners all over the metropolitan area, people have an extra energy about them and you can feel the pride in the city! I’m so excited for the game tonight! Let’s DO THIS ROYAL’S!! While watching the game, we were also watching […]
The Vacation I Hadn’t Planned
I had a great time with my daughter last week, then Mike and I went to a beautiful wedding out of town this weekend. I ended up taking an unplanned break from the blog and totally went into vacation mode. Tess and I ended up watching the Royals game on Tuesday at a great little Brewery, of course. Then we watched Wednesday at a favorite place of ours where we met a few friends, made a few new friends, and cheered really loud! Tess paid a little tribute to our Mimi on Instagram one of the nights while we watched the Royals play! l found this picture today that a photographer took of Tess and I at the Pep Rally downtown that we accidentally came upon! We are all about our Kansas City Royals and our blue shirts, and we still can’t believe we happened upon this big pep […]
Let’s Go Royals!!
Okay, so here’s what I’ve proven to myself time and time again. When my daughter and I get together, I totally regress back to my 20’s and we just have a really, really good time. She moved to Dallas after she graduated from college, almost two years ago, and every time we get together, it’s like some kind of mini vacation for the both of us! I said that I would count my WW PointsPlus this week and keep on track, but I knew that it would be tough. I’ve totally failed at that. Saturday included an Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Breakfast, A Quinoa Bowl for lunch, and a Chicken Sausage with Sauerkraut and Sweet Potato Fries for dinner. Sunday my meals included Bagels and Cream Cheese at my son and daughter-in-laws new house, a leftover chicken sausage at home, and we then went to a BBQ dinner for […]

It’s Going to be a Great Weekend!
It’s going to be a busy day, and a great weekend! I hope that some of you found a Quinoa Bowl that you’d like to try in yesterday’s post! I’m getting a haircut today, by my lovely daughter, Anne. My hair hasn’t been this length in forever, and every time I try to curl it, I look like I’m right out of the 80’s! I’ve asked her to help me look a little more “current” today! Our son, Jake, turns 30 today, and we are going to see him and his wife tonight at their new home that they just bought! I’m trying to come up with a clever gift to show up with for the first time home owners. They have a ton of tree’s, and all I can think of is a rake and lawn bags!! I’m picking up my Little Sis, Samone, in the morning, and we […]
