We had a great long weekend at the Lake! I love it when Mike can get away from work and relax a little. We did go to the lake with his work friends, so obviously there were a few “work” discussions, but for the most part, we all just relaxed and had a great weekend! The boys golfed Friday morning and afternoon while Rebecca and I took a long walk that involved a few challenging hills, grabbed a few groceries, then chilled on the dock! Friday evening was filled with a yummy lasagne dinner and wine, several laughs and early to bed! Saturday morning, I took another long walk that included some good hills, worked up a good sweat, and then we all went out on this baby! After a nice boat road, we ended up at our destination….Back Water Jack’s! Here…lunch and drinks (ordered by their […]

Lake Bound!
We are headed to the lake for a long weekend with some of Mike’s co-workers. Rebecca, my running partner, and my wine trip partner, and one of my favorite girls, will be there along with her husband, Tim! Tim and Mike have been friends since junior high, but they also happen to work together! Rebecca and I plan to walk every morning, and she’s a healthy eater, so that will make healthy choices so much easier! However, we can each talk each other into “just one more drink” too! Mike and I have dinner and breakfast for one day, so I’ve planned a Chicken Taco Bar for dinner and a Light Breakfast Casserole for breakfast. Lunch will be out and about at a fun Lake Bar, where I will be challenged by beverages and fries!!! I’ve got my workout clothes packed for long morning walks, I’m taking lots of water […]
Overeater’s Anonymous – Update
A little over four months ago, I wrote two blog post about Overeater’s Anonymous. You can click on the link’s below if you would like to reread them, or read them for the first time. Overeater’s Anonymous, Part I Overeater’s Anonymous, Part II I never did any kind of a follow up post about OA, so I thought I probably should. I was asked several questions after writing those post that I wasn’t sure how to answer. I feel like I can explain now why I went to OA, and what I got out of that experience. I had gotten to my lowest weight in October of 2013, then gained some weight. Towards the end of February, I was feeling really bad about myself. I decided to attend those OA meetings to see exactly what was discussed and to see if I thought that I belonged there, in addition to […]
I Love My Frothy Coffee!
Cafe au lait (French for “coffee with milk”) is a French coffee drink. The meaning of the term differs between Europe and the United States: in both cases it means some kind of coffee with hot milk added, in contrast to white coffee, which is coffee with room temperature milk or other whitener added. During my brief stint as a Barista at Starbuck’s, I learned a LOT about coffee and a lot of the different ways that you can make it AND drink it! One of my favorite coffee drinks is a Cafe au lait. I like the taste, AND it cost less than a latte if you are buying it at a coffee shop. At Starbuck’s, they call this coffee drink a Misto. After realizing my coffee budget was a little out of control, I decided to start making yummy coffee drinks at home. I have one of these […]
The Weekend In Review….
Friday It was a great day on Friday for a lot of reasons, but mostly because I got to pick up my daughter at the airport! She moved to Dallas a year and a half ago with a great job opportunity at Southwest Airlines, and because she works there, we get FREE Flights! I can’t imagine her living that far away and her and I not getting to see each other as often as we do! I’m already excited to go Dallas next month for her birthday!! We always stop somewhere on the way home from the airport, have a bite to eat, and get caught up. That’s exactly what we did! Saturday It was the Bowl for Kid’s Sake with Big Brother Big Sister on Saturday! I was so glad that Tess could come in town because she had not yet had the opportunity to meet my Little Sis, […]
A Great Weight Watcher’s Week!
It really was a great Weight Watcher’s Week! I got in a lot of activity, I ate a lot of fruits and veggies. I had a good attitude, and I successfully faced a few challenges along the way. I made a couple of new recipes too! Peaches and Creme Oatmeal, and Eggplant Parmesan! I pumped up the tires on my bike and got in a ride. More of that to come for sure!! I was going to a Happy Hour last night, and I was trying to “Fill Up” before I went by eating a few things at home and drinking lots of water. The good part here is that I didn’t eat ONE bite of food at the Happy Hour, but then I came home and ate dinner, after already filling up on the snack’s that I had before I went! I was really active this week, so I […]
Exercising With Your Dog
Yesterday I was in a huge hurry to write my blog and get out the door to the DMV. I failed to mention in my blog that I did NOT get in a ONE mile run on Tuesday. I did however walk 6.8 Miles and ride my bike 3 miles. I was just not feeling it after that. Lesson learned. ALWAYS run first. 🙂 Oh, and speaking of running, I blogged about signing up to run a 10K on July 4th, and due to a schedule conflict, that did NOT happen. I am currently looking into adding another 5K to my list though, and hopefully, before the summer is over, my friend Rebecca and I will get in a 10K too! I did get my ONE mile run in on Wednesday. I decided to see how Tucker would do on a run with me. I see people running with their […]

First of all, this was the first thing I saw when I looked at my phone for the first time yesterday morning! It really put me in a good mood to start off my day! Thanks, Weight Watchers! (If you’re not a WW member, the online tools and the app are awesome!!) I Walked to Starbuck’s with a friend, we had coffee, chatted, walked home. 5.2 Miles! I Walked the Dogs….1.6 Miles I pumped up the tires and rode my bicycle…..3.3 Miles! It was a great day outside!! While going through some paperwork and doing a little organizing, I found my Motor Vehicle registration that was DUE IN MAY!!! Rent My Dog….For Free!
What a whacky day! At noon, the Dog Trainer came to my house. We are on week six of dog training. I have to say, behavior has changed….there is less barking….he now waits for permission to get on the furniture….he has limited access to upstairs and downstairs….he comes to me on command (well, for the most part), but Tucker still wants to poop in the house (twice this week!) and he has now developed some terrible anxiety about being “gated” in the kitchen! This has resulted in tearing into the dog food/treat cabinet and scratching up the kitchen cabinets in the process! Since I don’t want the kitchen torn up, I’m back to letting him roam the first floor while I am gone. I don’t really know how else to handle that, and apparently, neither does the trainer. The trainer is expensive, and they do have a money back guarantee, […]
Eat Fat, Feel Fat. Eat Lean, Feel Lean.
You really are what you eat. When I eat fatty food’s or unhealthy foods, I feel unhealthy and fat. When I eat lean meats and fruits and veggies and whole grains, I feel healthy, I feel lean, no matter what the scale says. I feel so good when I make goals and recommit. One of my blog readers made a comment on my recent post, “Weight Loss and Socializing”. I mentioned in this post that I would only drink alcohol one time per week, and keep all trigger foods out of the house. Here is her comment. “I think alcohol is a real problem with weight loss. I love my glass of wine, but it prevents weight loss and usually mean pounds creeping back on for me. The once a week limit sounds good to me. Also trigger food out of the house…goodbye chips! I struggle with getting in water, fruit, […]
