Steps I hadn’t taken a long walk with Becky in a while, but that changed yesterday. We didn’t go at a super fast pace, but we did get in a long walk. Look where that walk put me for my steps at the end of the day! Yay. Over 15,000! Fitbit was very happy for me! Needless to say, I had some aching feet before getting into bed last night but it felt good to get in a long walk. I have a walking date scheduled this afternoon with someone that I met via Instagram. I was working a WW meeting several weeks ago, and she came up to me and asked me if I was Julie from The Weight of my Weight. She said she thought I looked like her. I was so glad that she said something! Since then, we have been texting back and forth and trying to […]

I say “Whatever Works, Do That”
I woke up wanting to feel thirty something, so I chose my t-shirt wisely. Maybe I’m three. I don’t know. Mickey just makes me feel young. I say, “Whatever works, do that”. Tucker and I headed to the park. Just saying “I’m going to the park”, makes me feel young. The weather made it a great park morning. This Bat House is on the walking trail. Why on earth would I disturb the bats?? I actually picked up my pace as I walked by the bat house. After the park, I decided to make dinner early and have it ready for later. I was playing with a Shepherds Pie. I do not have a recipe, and I’m fairly certain that I make it different every time. Sauté Celery, Carrots, Onions and Garlic in Olive Oil, add salt and pepper, then add Beef or Turkey and cook through. Next, […]
A Happy Weekend
It was a great Easter Sunday yesterday. My mother in law is one of nine children. There were six boys and three girls. They grew up on a farm in Eastern Kansas. I never did get to meet Mike’s grandpa, but I had the opportunity to meet Mike’s grandma before she passed away several years ago. I also had the opportunity to meet the three uncles that have now passed. As you can imagine, with nine children and now four generations later, the family has really grown and each year for Easter, the family has dinner together. Easter was always at the family farm, and I remember taking our kids and being able to be a part of that. The family has grown so much over the years, it’s just too much for Aunt Lucille (who now lives on the family farm), so the family meets at a community center […]
An AARP Kind of Day
I’m writing this all when I am way too tired, so please excuse any and all sentences that make no sense at all and any random babbling. Wednesday after working the food truck, I headed out for a two mile walk with Tucker. I have driven this particular route and I know for a fact that it is two miles. I was curious to see just how accurate my Fitbit is. I was looking forward to our walk. About five houses away I stepped off of the curb and tweaked my back. What the &@#$??? I slowly walked Tucker back home and with each tug of the leash from him, I winced. I walked around the house for just a few minutes and decided that it wasn’t so bad after all and I went back out. By myself this time. About three houses away from home, it happened again. I went home. The […]
I’m now a Step Counter
(This is not a sponsored post.) Well, I did it. I bought a Fitbit. I have gone back and forth on whether I wanted a fitness tracker ever since fitness trackers were introduced. Honestly, I didn’t want something telling me when I wasn’t being active, so I had decided that it wasn’t for me. It took me a long time to get to a place where I didn’t feel guilty about so many things that were related to my diet and exercise. I didn’t want to deal with a fitness tracker telling me that I needed to move if I hadn’t done so in the time that it thought that I should. Make sense? I love to walk and I love my yoga classes (although it seems like forever since I made it to Yoga!), but I’ve now become increasingly curious about how active I really am on those days that I […]
Family, Friends, Work and Play
Working I had the opportunity to sub as a Leader for my mentor/trainer over the last few days and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY MEETING! I am a receptionist for her on Thursday mornings at an At Work meeting and last Thursday, I led the meeting. I was nervous because although I have worked this particular meeting as a receptionist and I know these members fairly well, I had some pretty big shoes to fill, so I was a tad nervous. One of the members lightened my nerves and started the meeting by sharing a dream that she had about the meeting. She told everyone that she had a dream that I was funny. That was it. That was the dream. I’m such a weirdo because it made me happy that she had a dream about me leading the meeting. I’m very easily entertained at times. The meeting went […]
Fish
Before I blog about anything else, you have to know that I saw this on Instagram yesterday, and I want it badly!! I thought about it all night long. Is she adorable?? I would imagine only happy things happen when she is around. Ahhhhhh……… I wanted fish and potatoes for dinner. I don’t know why. I just did. I’d like to start eating more fish and seafood at home, but for some reason I have always been hesitant to learn how to cook it? I made scallops one time not too long ago. We both loved them and it was an easy recipe. I prefer shrimp fajita’s over steak or chicken, but I have only cooked shrimp a handful of times at home. Salmon is my all time favorite, and I have finally mastered it in the skillet. I wanted fish last night. Mike is not a fan of salmon, […]
New Shoes and a Purge
Monday I hopped on the treadmill (not due to bad weather, but due to some dumb show I can’t get away from on Netflix) and walked a slow 4 miles. When I got off, I called the doctor and made an appointment. It seemed like time to figure out what I need to do other than what I am already doing for my foot. On Tuesday, I decided new shoes might help. I’m not really over due, but it is time for a new pair. I bought two new pair yesterday and after walking in one of the new pairs from 2:00 pm until about 9:00 pm, my foot feels so much better. I do love my shoe store. I’ve bought my last 12 pair of walking shoes there. The 10th pair was $100 off! Elite Feet is family owned and the last two times that I have been in there, Leslie […]
March 41st
March 41st is when I plan to finish my 100 Miles in March. Work with me here, okay? My last post was on a Friday, (over a week ago!!) and I had walked ZERO miles that day. Below are the three days that followed that ZERO day. Saturday – 5 miles Sunday – 3 miles Monday – 6 miles Monday evening… Tuesday After working on Tuesday, I picked up my mom and we went to visit my cousin in the nursing home. I came home, cooked dinner, ate, then hopped on the treadmill. I walked 1/4 of a mile and felt like there was a knife in my heel, so I stepped off. I’ve talked just briefly about thinking I have Plantar Fasciitis. I haven’t been to the doctor, but after talking to several friends and looking up my symptoms online, I am self diagnosing and I think it’s Plantar Fasciitis. […]
0 Miles
My house was really needing some TLC this week and I was beginning to think it wasn’t going to get any. I consider myself to be a tidy person, so things are pretty much in order. The kitchen and bathrooms are kept clean, but when it comes to vacuuming and dusting and mopping, those things seem to fall to the bottom of the list. Yesterday…. Vacuum entire house Mop all floors Dust Balance Check Book Pay Bills Gather Tax Information Unpack boxes delivered for my At Work and organize I knew that it might rain and that I should walk my miles early in the day or jump on the treadmill. At some point in the middle of afternoon while knee deep in my “to do’s”, I made the decision to continue to attack my list and skip the walk. It will put me even further behind on my challenge, […]
