It was a successful week in my Weight Watcher world that included attending my personal Weight Watcher meeting yesterday morning. I have not made attending my own meeting a priority and it felt good to be there yesterday. We talked about our Weight Watcher What, Why and How. When asked What our WW goal was, many of us, including myself, said “Health”. Then we were asked what that means. It was a different answer for many of us that answered Health. For some it meant taking less medication or no medications at all. For some it meant physically being able to do more. For some it meant better numbers from the Doctor’s office. For me it meant having more energy and feeling happy in my body. When asked How we would accomplish our goals, we were reminded that that had to happen in our minds. We all had to make the decision in our […]

A Good Winter Day
I love to watch the snow fall, preferably from my house while sitting by the fire while sipping on coffee. Yesterday I watched it snow as I drove down the interstate in rush hour traffic. I’m a working girl now ya know. I worked at an early morning WW meeting and it was a great training opportunity. The new year brings in new Weight Watcher members, and knowing what to do with a new member when they walk in the door is kind of important. I was happy to have the opportunity to train and to meet so many nice people, but also happy to be back home in my warm house by noon. After a few hours at home, I thought it might be fun to bundle up and take a walk on the trail in the snow. This girl will go for a walk with me just about […]
More Cleaning
We are cleaning up the diet after the holidays and cleaning up the house! I like to give the house a good deep cleaning after taking all of the decorations down from the holidays. I get bored looking at the same stuff, so I also like to rearranging things a bit. Yesterday I called in some help. I love that she moved things around to places that I would not have thought of to put them, but now it is very apparent to me that I have some dated (um, and kinda dusty) things sitting around the house. I’ve painted every bathroom and bedroom in this house several times in the 17 years that we have lived here, but we have never changed the color of the living room and the entry has been the same color for years. I haven’t really bought new decor for either of these areas […]
Cleaning Up
In an effort to clean up my body after the holidays, I’m dedicating January to eating lots of whole foods and very little processed foods. I already feel better after a few days of eating lots of lean protein, fruits and veggies, raw nuts and drinking lots of water. I got 30 minutes of treadmill yesterday and plan to go to a Hot Yoga Class today. That’s it for now! I’m organizing my house today. I have a friend coming over to hep me rearrange all of my accessories. My dining room table is a mess right now with every little accessory on it! I hope when we are done that it looks like I bought a bunch of new stuff! lol Here are yesterday’s eats… Breakfast – 4 SP Fajita Scramble Peppers and Onions sautéed in Cooking Spray with Fajita seasoning. I mixed those in with my scrambled Egg Whites […]
Sometimes, Simple is Best
Meal planning and prep can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t really have to be. When I feel myself overthinking grocery shopping and meals for the week, I go back to basics. For me that means making sure I have some Chicken Breast cooked up, a variety of veggies on hand, and some Protein (Chicken, Tuna or Egg) Salad made up for easy lunches. I hadn’t actually planned a food prep day yesterday, but I ended up spending just a couple of hours preparing just a few simple things. I baked Chicken Breast (brush lightly with Olive Oil, salt and pepper) and added a few carrots to the baking sheet. 425 for 25 minutes. Perfect. Now I have plenty of Chicken to use for dinner this week and I have extra to freeze. The cooked carrots will be a handy side dish to heat up. While the chicken was […]
Utilize Your Tools
I feel rested and ready for the New Year. How about you? We took it pretty easy around here yesterday. I did buy just a few groceries. FYI. Trader Joe’s is closed on New Years Day. I found that out last year when I pulled into the parking lot, and I did the exact same thing again this year. Whole Foods however, is open. I would consider my grocery list to be a tool for me when it comes to preparing for the week. How about you? Do you make a list? Do you know what you are going to be cooking for the week? Are you more apt to walk into the grocery store without a list and shop around until you have enough groceries to get you by for the next few days? I do both. When I go with a list and at least an idea of what […]
The New Year and Routine
Yesterday morning started off with an early morning Hot Yoga class, followed by breakfast at home, then coffee with mom. I spent the afternoon checking things off of my “to do” list and at 6:00 pm, I decided that I should take a shower so we could go get some dinner. I never did get to the grocery store, and if we didn’t want to eat a cucumber omelet, then we were going out to dinner. We hit up our neighborhood place that we like to go to up the street planning to have dinner, then go home. Surprise! Joel was playing and we really like to listen to him. He was in rare form last night cracking jokes in between songs, so we had a great time and I was glad that we had no groceries. I tracked all day and at dinner I ordered water and hot tea to drink. I […]
Happy New Year 2017!
Have you set goals for yourself for 2017? Maybe you’ve decided to travel more, read more, relax more, find a new hobby, take a class, be more active or cook more? Oh!! How about taking a cooking class?? That sounds fun to me! I like taking time each year to look at what I’ve accomplished over the past year, and what I would like to accomplish the following year. Of course a lot of these accomplishments are related to my health and fitness, but there are other accomplishments that have to do with that other part of life. You know, the fun stuff. At Weight Watchers, we talk about the importance of Food, Fitness and Fulfillment in our weight loss and weight loss maintenance. We all know that eating healthy food helps us lose weight and maintain weight loss. We also know that fitness plays a huge role in losing weight, keeping it […]
December 30th
I’ve been eating an abundance of sugar since before Thanksgiving, when all of the sugary treats started challenging me. I’ve now lead some Weight Watcher meetings and admitted to the group, that along with some of them, I fight the sugar demon and likely always will. I un-decorated yesterday and cleaned out the fridge and pantry. I decided that I was ready for the New Year a couple of days early. I hated to wait two more days and give myself an excuse to over indulge. I spent the day at home yesterday organizing and never did make it to the grocery store. I made a big thing of Tuna Salad, and that was my meal prep. We still had a few fresh veggies to add to our meals. We started the Netflix series The Crown, and I have a feeling we are both going to be stuck to the couch […]
2016 Review
I seem to begin each “Year in Review” stating that everyone should journal. It really is so great to be able to look back through the year (or years) and see what has happened in life. If you journal regularly, it’s a great way to see all of the wonderful things that happened throughout the year, but also to remind yourself of challenges that you may have faced and how you worked through them. Before the blog, I journaled in notebooks. When I would go back and read through them, I realized that most of my journal entries were about a challenge, a struggle or a down time. I wasn’t journaling about the good days, unless it was about a vacation or an event. The great thing about making the commitment to blog regularly (or journal, since that really is what it is) is that I’m blogging about day to day […]
