Hi Guys. I took a little blogging break over the weekend, enjoyed some fun with friends, reading in my hammock, a Hot Yoga class and a great day with the kids and grandkids here yesterday. Update on my pup. On Thursday, I put my nose right up to hers, and told her that I needed a sign from her. I needed to know if she was exhausted and ready for doggy heaven, or would she like to stick around a little longer. Within a few hours, Tucker ran across the backyard, and she chased him, which she had not done since she had her stroke last week. Then, I was upstairs at my house with a friend of mine showing her something, and all of a sudden, there was Mishka! She had come upstairs by herself! She hadn’t done any stairs since her stroke either. I got my sign from […]

Round 2, Whole30, Day 30
Day 30! While I did a great job with my food these last 30 days, I did end up having a glass of wine or a beer on a few days towards the end of the 30 days. The important thing is that I feel awesome. I’m eating a great variety of whole foods that I love, I’m always trying something new, I have lots of energy, I’m sleeping great, and I’m happy with my food choices. What more could you ask for on a journey to a healthier you? I have more time tomorrow morning to write a recap of where I’m at on the scale, and what I plan to eat from now on, but for now….here’s what went on yesterday A couple of different friends of mine had told me about this free magazine at one of my favorite local grocery stores, and I’m glad they did. All sorts […]
Round 2, Whole30, Day 29
After working the Food Truck yesterday, I got in a three mile walk with Tucker, then came home and enjoyed my niece being here. It was a lot easier to get her moved in that we thought, which left a lot of time for chatting and getting caught up. I’m really looking forward to having a girl in the house to chat with. Sometimes asking Mike to talk to me like a girlfriend would, can get old. I had a menu planned for the week, and that always makes the week go smoothly. I also roasted plenty of Butternut Squash for the week, and we have used that in several meals. I ended up with a lot more leftover Chicken and Steak and salad fixin’s than I thought that I would, so we ended up eating lots of salad for dinner this week. I needed easy meals for Tuesday and […]
Round 2, Whole30, Day 28
Sometimes, I goof. The short version. That Steak Salad that I raved about in yesterday’s post? Well, I goofed and forgot to include the recipe for the marinade. I have revised that post to include the marinade recipe. I did change the recipe just a bit from the original, and I have now posted the recipe, Flank Steak Marinade, here on the blog. My apologies if anyone was super eager to make that salad (like my daughter was) and was perplexed as to where the marinade for the flank steak was. My Day Yesterday was one of the first days in what seems like forever, that I did not have a “to do” list, or any place that I needed to be. It was nice. You know what I did do? I’m ridiculously excited. I planned a trip for Mike and I to go to NYC! Guys, I’m super stoked! I have been wanting […]
Flank Steak Marinade
I love a Flank Steak, but I think there is a secret to making sure it is tender and juicy, the way a good steak should be. The secret? Poke it and soak it! This taste great with potatoes and green beans. It also makes an amazing Steak Salad! “love the life you live, live the life you love”
Round 2, Whole30, Day 27
(Revised 4-19-16. I included a link to a wonderful steak salad I made for dinner in this post. I failed o include a separate link to the marinade that I used for marinating my flank steak. Click HERE for the marinade. It is awesome!) In yesterday’s post, I told you that I had some steak marinating. Ohhhh M Geeeeeee. It was soooo good. I have the link below where I tell you what I ate for dinner, which includes some of this grilled Flank Steak. I got in a little Yoga last night at home, and for whatever reason, I am forgetting to drink water. Here are yesterday’s eats…… Breakfast – 5 SP Un-Pictured Almonds. I wasn’t really hungry in the morning, so I grabbed a few nuts while doing food prep at the bosses house. Lunch – 8 SP Un-Pictured Banana with 1 T. Almond Butter and Tuna Salad with Celery, […]
Round 2, Whole30, Day 26
Occasionally, Mike works on a Sunday because his phone goes from an average of 60-80 calls a day to almost zero (sometimes people still call!), and he can get a lot done. I really don’t like for him to work on Sunday because I would much rather spend the day together, but any opportunity for him to get caught up a bit, is a good thing. When he does work on Sunday, I tend to get a ton of stuff done at home. Yesterday I did a lot of housework and a little food prep for the week. I kept an eye on Mishka and took a few breaks to cuddle. We are not going to the vet today, but the vet and I talked and we are going to see how she does this week, then go from there. Thank you for all of your kind comments, emails and text messages about my […]
Round 2, Whole30, Day 25
This Lasagna from Trina over at Paleo Newbie maybe tasted even better leftover, if that is at all possible? After sleeping late and missing Yoga yesterday, I decided to spend the morning loving on Mishka and sipping coffee. I took these pictures after going to the vet the other day. I spent the afternoon getting one of the guest rooms ready for a niece of mine to move in this week. She will be staying with us for a little while, so I was doing some re-organizing to ensure that she will have some closet and drawer space when she gets here on Wednesday. Being empty nesters, I seemed to have done a great job of spreading my unnecessary clothes, purses, scarves and shoes throughout the house. Let me just say that at the end of the day, my garage sale pile is now a little larger. I’m excited for my niece to […]
Round 2, Whole30, Day 24
Whole30 When Mike and I did our first round of Whole30 back in October, I was all about the challenge of going 30 days without eating a variety of foods, and curious as to how my body would feel at the end of those 30 days. I was also curious to see what old habits would die, and what new habits I would pick up. I was successful in completing the challenge and I learned a lot about my body and my food habits. This round of Whole30 was planned because I had let some of those old habits slip back into my lifestyle, and I wasn’t feeling so great. I wanted to feel good again, and I knew what I needed to do for that to happen. Now that I know that I can complete the 30 day challenge, and I already know how great it makes me feel, my […]
Round 2, Whole30, Day 23
On Thursday, my first stop was Yoga, only to find out that I had looked at the schedule wrong, so I left. From there I went to….. Costco Whole Foods Trader Joe’s My Local Grocery Store Walmart Walgreens The Bank The Gas Station The Car Wash The CPA’s office, twice Mike’s office I hadn’t had a Food Prep, Meal Planning and Grocery Shopping Day in a while, so I spent the entire day getting caught up….mostly on food. Check out the variety of Sweet Potatoes that I bought at Whole Foods! I also found a variety of Larabar’s…..to be eaten responsibly. Here are a few of my favorites from Trader Joe’s that I stocked up on! Can you believe the size of these berries that I found at Trader Joe’s? I had plenty of Weekly Points left on Thursday, so I made healthy choices, but did not […]
