This town loves their Kansas City Royals. We loved this group last year and we knew they’d be back to take the Crown this year! Mike and I watched the game at home….. Wide awake and very calm in the 11th inning! When things got crazy in the 12th inning, we decided to go back over to the neighbor’s house that we were at the night before for Victory Fireball Shots!! You guys, we just won the World Series!!! Tess wanted us to FaceTime her so she could do a victory shot with us! (I totally spit my shot of Fireball back into my shot glass, but they were the mini red solo cups, so nobody knew. I hadn’t planned to do that, but when it was in my mouth, I was like nooooooooo…….) Goofball. If you’re not a sports fan, the Mets have a player with the […]

Day 20, Whole30
Food We are 2/3 of the way through our Whole30! It’s been so much more pleasurable than I imagined, and I can’t stress enough that the first week was a little overwhelming making sure I had Whole30 compliant items in the house, but after that, so much easier. I still say that taking a little time out of one day a week to plan, is key! I have decided for the last 10 days, I will pass on the nut butters and dates, and I will eat less potatoes and more green veggies, and see if that makes a difference on the scale. (Thanks Roberta for all of your suggestions! It is greatly appreciated!) Fun Okay, a lot of stuff happened yesterday. I ran a 5K, I assembled an entire Foosball Table for a surprise for Mike’s birthday, I made a pretty dinner for his birthday, and we went to […]
Day 19, Whole30
Yesterday was a busy day, and today has been no different. Today is Mike’s birthday but I’ll tell you all about what I did today, tomorrow, and tell you just a little bit about what I did yesterday, today. Got it? I’m writing this super fast today, so expect some errors (more than usual, I should say) Friday started off with a trip to Doggie Day Care (this is not a joke) since I was going to be gone all day and didn’t want to come home to pee….or poop….which I may have from one dog who shall not be named, but he’s the white dog, not the brown dog. Then off to my WW meeting. My weight stayed the same. I’m really tempted to count points, because even though we are doing 100% everything we are supposed to be doing, I’d still like to lose weight, and I’m wondering […]
Day 18, Whole30
I forgot to mention that I bought Halloween Candy a few days ago! Yep. Candy just sitting in my house. Of course I bought candy that I don’t care for much, but still, it’s in the house and I haven’t been tempted. As I’m typing this, I’m trying to remember where I ended up putting it? Yesterday, I registered for my last 2 5K’s for 2015. I had a lot of goals this calendar year, (they are listed at the bottom of my blog post each day) and while I didn’t meet them all, I feel like it’s been one of my healthiest years yet. I knew for sure that I would do Six 5K’s this year, I just hadn’t planned on waiting so late in the year to get them all in. Running in the cold is not my cup of tea (ahhhhh….I love a hot cup of tea) and it […]
Day 17, Whole30
Yesterday, I made a yummy breakfast, I planned to eat lunch at the Food Truck, and that was tasty, I had a snack later in the afternoon that I ate mindfully, I made a new recipe for dinner that was awesome and the KC Royals won Game Two of the World Series!! Pretty great day you guys. While working at the Food Truck, I cut up dessert and put it in containers. Cobbler with peaches, blueberries, apples and cherries. I can NOT describe to you how awesome this smelled, and usually when I cut dessert at the truck, I lick the spoon and/or take a bite. Nope. Nothing. We watched the game at home in the coziness of our PJ’s. These are the socks that I fell down the stairs in last week! I walked down stairs very S L O W last night. I’m wearing my KC Chiefs Flannel PJ […]
Day 16, Whole30
You guys, WE WON game one of the World Series!! Yahoo! Yippee! Hoorah! Hooray! Whoo Whoo!! It was a late night too in extra innings. I admit, I dozed off, and woke up with bases loaded and got to see us win the game, then right back to sleep! I hope it’s another exciting evening, but nine innings would be great! Okay….Whole30. I really was not sure what Paleo was. If you are unclear on the difference between Paleo and Whole30, and would like to know more, click HERE for a great description of both. My short version, the whole30 is a 30 day restrictive diet, where after 30 days, you begin to individually reintroduce food items back into your diet, and see how your body reacts to that food. If it’s a food that you chose to eat, and you experience no negative side effects (inflammation, gut issues, cravings), then it’s […]
Day 15, Whole30
This has only happened a couple of times during the last 15 days, but I had the munchies yesterday, and my snacking habit is one of the biggest changes that I am trying to make during the whole30. I woke up early and I was wanting to eat, but not cook……so I ended up eating a handful of those fat and juicy Holiday Grapes, then I had another handful. After two cups of coffee, I made my breakfast and watched Dr. Oz, because he just happened to have Dallas and Melissa Hartwig, the authors of the Whole30, on his show! I thought they had some great tips, and they make eating whole foods forever sound very doable. I got in a 3.5 mile walk yesterday afternoon, ran a couple of errands, and cooked a yummy dinner. Other than that, I decided that I had been going like crazy for the […]
Day 14, Whole30
No doubt, it was a challenging weekend at times. Friday beers while watching the Royals game would have been nice, and Saturday night while at a party, a glass of wine would have tasted good, but we skipped on the beverages, and we survived. 🙂 Yesterday, we went to our son and daughter-in-law’s house for a family get together. Before I talk about the food challenges, let me talk about this awesome house that they bought and moved into last October. The house was built in 1935. Jake and Jordan moved in one year ago, and this was their first official family get together. We’ve been to the house, but not with all of our kids and grandkids and Mike’s parents. Everything was cozy and perfect. I love the area of Kansas City that they live in. It’s an older part of the city with some beautiful old homes. I […]
Day 13, Whole30
Day 13, and weekend number two, almost complete! I started my Saturday morning off with a 8:00 am Hot Yoga class, and it felt great to get back there! We went to our grandson’s football game (number 34) before lunch, and they won 19-0, with him scoring TWO Touchdowns!! Of course, I didn’t get a touchdown picture! It all happens so fast! After game snacks are super important! What a great kid he is. His little sister entertained us between plays….”Nobody touch my hotdog!” The rest of our Saturday was filled with a few chores and errands. We had dinner at home, then went to a party where we didn’t even look at the food table, drank bottles of water, and focused on the people. I will admit that this weekend was a little harder than last wanting to have a glass of wine. Friday afternoon, a girlfriend came by […]
Day 12, Whole30
First, and most importantly…..You guys…..The Royals are going to the World Series!!! Yahoo! Whoo! Whoo! Yippee! I love following Salvy’s Instagram Page! He makes me smile. Last night was awesome. It did make me want to snack, but I didn’t!! We watched the game at home, Mike’s favorite place to watch, and really…..with as emotional as he gets, it’s best. I’ve never seen anyone go from Happy, to Pissed Off, to Ecstatic, in such a short amount of time. Whew! During the game, I got off of the couch and got down on the floor and did about 30 minutes of Yoga. I was trying to calm myself down, and get in a little stretching. At my WW meeting yesterday, we talked about activity, and different ways to spontaneously get some in. Exercising during TV commercials was suggested, so I figured, why not a little Yoga to calm my nerves […]
