Okay, I walked them. And it took me several days, (okay, months) but I’m super impressed with myself for walking all of those miles!!! 209.6 would be FOUR Marathons, and I completed 211 miles!! It was my goal to walk 200 miles by the end of May, so I completed that goal ahead of schedule!! Time for a new exercise chart with new exercise goals. I need to figure that out! So, I worked hard this week, and actually gained a pound! A little puzzled as to why, but know for certain that I have told myself that Trail Mix is a trigger food for me, and I simply shouldn’t buy it. This particular mix that I bought this week was all raw nuts and dried cranberries, no chocolate candies OR peanut butter chips. I guess there was just enough sweet in it to get to me. I can’t believe […]

Spring Cleaning!!
My Wednesday started off with and awesome 6.7 mile walk outside! It was GORGEOUS outside. I felt like it was the first day in a long time that I had absolutely no place I HAD to be, and all I could think about was opening all the windows and giving my house a LONG overdue, good Spring Cleaning! So, I did just that!! After doing some household paperwork and mail sorting and organizing, I went to work on the house. By 7:30 pm, my house was clean, from top to bottom. It felt sooooo good. I can definitely feel the progress in my shoulder because things (like house cleaning) are beginning to be less difficult to do. Mike was golfing, so I knew I had all day and most of the evening to get everything done, and it was so gorgeous outside, all I could think about was ending the […]
Appointment after Appointment……
Lets see, in the last couple of days, I’ve been to the Physical therapist, the dermatologist, the dentist, took an Ipad class at the Apple Store, and the few days before that, I had a post-op visit with the surgeon, I waited patiently for the carpet cleaners, then waited patiently while the cable guy got the phone and Internet back up and running. I still need to get the dogs to the vet, then I should be caught up! Oh, except for the first time in maybe ten years, I had a cavity at the dentist, and I have to go back to have it filled next month. Urg. So besides going to appointments, and finding new routes to walk outside, I really have nothing super exciting to say. I did learn a lot at my iPad class and may possibly take another one. I was there ten minutes early […]
A Great Day at the Park!
I have many childhood memories at Antioch Park. Playing frisbee with my dad and brother.Sledding with my dad and brother…….and dog.Eating Kentucky Fried Chicken at a picnic table with Mom, Dad and my brother, and probably the family dog.Walking our dog across the stepping stones in the lake. Those silly little stones seem to have a lot of memories tied to them for some reason. Fear, excitement, curiosity. They are just stepping stones, but it was the one place in the park that I always wanted to go to first, at age 6 and at age 46. When I got there yesterday with Tucker, the first place I headed to, was the stones. My second favorite part of Antioch Park? All the little buildings. Who knows how many times these little buildings have been painted and then painted again? But as I walked through the park on Sunday, these little […]
Happy Mom, Happy Kid, Happy Dogs
First, get this. Just a few short days after me getting my first iPhone last week, my iPad died. When I took it to the Apple Store, they told me it was fried. Urg. I know they were honest with me, but I felt like I was at the mechanic and they were telling me everything was broken on my car and that it would cost me a gazzilion dollars to fix it! So. On Thursday, I purchased the new iPad, with the extended warranty. On Friday, the Internet at home went out, which I really hoped had something to do with destroying my precious iPad, but apparently it didn’t. Time Warner showed up at 4:30 pm on Saturday and didn’t leave until 7:00PM!!!! Today, Sunday, all tech things seem to be working properly and all is well. I tried to pretend like it wasn’t bothering me and spent lots […]
Short, Simple.
The dogs are at the groomers and I am determined to make a huge dent in my ever growing “to do list” that I got a really good start on yesterday. I have no idea why I can get so much done when Mishka and Tucker are not here, but I have a hard time walking by the two of them and not stopping to wrestle for a bit. I swear they smile every time!! I did have an iPad catastrophe yesterday which led me to spend my morning at the Apple store today. I believe my choices this week with food and exercise are going to lead to a very satisfying morning at the scale tomorrow!! Trust me, I will blog about it immediately following my meeting!! “love the life you live, live the life you love”
Congratulations Jessie!
This is my niece, the daughter of my brother, the cousin of my daughter, the Granddaughter of my mother and father, and the twin sister of her brother.(I’d give a shout out to her friend in this picture, but I have no idea who that is.) While I was saving seats for the rest of the family, she sent me this picture! So I sent her this one of me, concentrating on the proper use of my new phone! She’s a pretty kick ass kid. Look at that sweet, sweet baby face! This is Jessie with her twin brother Jack, and their mom, Robin.Jack and Jessie lost their mom unexpectedly when they were 8 years old. I really don’t know how, but at 8 years old, Jessie took on the roll of caretaker, hugger, lover and biggest supporter of her dad and brother, no matter what. Her kindness is reflected […]
A Great Day Outside
I was very committed to my treadmill during the cold and rain, but I was really ready to get outside and finally BREATHE…… And as much as I do enjoy the path through our neighborhood and the ridiculously large family of turtles that I like to say “hello” to, I like to change up the scenery on occasion. Heritage Park is fairly close to home, and made a perfect “Meet in the Middle” spot for me and a friend. It’s always good to catch up with a friend while getting in a little exercise! If you take the right paths, it’s a little over 2 miles around the lake. I took a wrong turn on the second lap, and came up shy of my 4 miles, but I was in a hurry to get home to the carpet cleaners so they could clean up the coffee disaster I made last […]
Family Brunch, Family Dinner…..success in Points!
After my motivational meeting with my coach on Saturday morning, I am prepared for a very successful week! I am going to give you way more details about my food choices in this blog than I am certain you care to know, but I really felt good at the end of the day, and the details of how I got through it were important to me, and were also the result of meeting with my coach and feeling motivated. Mike and I met my mom, my niece and my brother at Ihop, (apparently the only place my mother will go for breakfast), at 11:00 for our first celebration of the day. Me, Mom, Niece I think my Mom said….”I’m going to look so short in between the two of you!” We told her she looked short no matter what. I’m 5’5″. Mom’s 4’8″. 🙂 I love this kid! She makes […]
Happy Mothers Day!
Yesterday was a very full day after meeting with my “coach”, but after the revelation that THIS was my life changing month, the rest of the decisions I made feel fairly mundane……. ……..except for the crazy ass driver I followed through the city, then rolled down my window to tell a police officer that was beside me at a stoplight about him, but the police officer just said “thank you” and drove away, so I continued to follow the crazy guy to a store, where I waited in the parking lot while he shopped (wondering the whole 20 minutes I was there if he was just late for work since he parked as far away from the door as possible, then did some sort of a sprint/skip into Bed Bath and Beyond), but then he came out with his purchases, so I followed him as he darted in and out […]
