A Full Day of Good.

Friday was just an all around great day. It started with the scale reading 167. (It said 167 again this morning, so it wasn’t a fluke!) After a high protein, low point breakfast, I went in for yet another brutal medical massage, in which I again cried. I don’t know why all the tears lately. Geeezzzz, how irritating. I feel like Holly Hunter’s character in “Broadcast News”. If you know the movie, then you know exactly what I am talking about, if you don’t, I love that movie, and you should watch it! But I am feeling the benefits of these massages. That is the “good” part. Then I had a funeral to go to. I went by myself. I know it must sound odd to say that I had a great day, then I tell you that I went to a funeral, but this Funeral was a true celebration […]

I’m Keeping the Swimsuit

No swimsuit is going to make these thighs look good, and I have NO idea why I always think that it might. After trying the (super cute) swimsuit on again, I decided in a sarong, it’ll look cute! 🙂 It looks purple? It’s Black. After a full Thursday morning of laundry, online shopping (looking for the perfect BBQ gas grill), tread milling and my physical therapy at home, it was time to go TO the physical therapist for more abuse. I cried while I was there, not like bawling, just teared up a bit. I was so embarrassed. I wasn’t crying from pain, just frustration, and apparently feeling a tad emotional?? Loser. I have completed just over THREE marathons! (Walking of course, over several days.) 81 miles!! Tess is coming home tonight and staying until Sunday! I haven’t seen her since a week after my surgery, and I was in […]

I Was Shopping for a BBQ Grill……

…….and instead, I came home with a swimsuit and new shoes. Who knew I would walk into Sears for a grill, but walk out with shoes and a swimsuit? Did you know that you can buy a Lands’ End “anything” and return it at any time? I had NO idea! I found a suit I really liked, but the whole dressing and undressing is a chore, and I didn’t want to get myself into something I couldn’t get out of all by myself, so I said to the sales person “I probably know the answer to this, but can I take this home to try it on and bring it back if I don’t like it?” Then I got the whole kick ass “return policy” story on Lands’ End products. I’m probably the only one that didn’t know that, but I thought I’d share anyhow. The suit is going back, […]

YEEEEE…..OOWWWWZZZZZAA!

My day started at the Physical Therapist office, where Michael, one of the therapist (and a very likable young man),”checked my progress”. Michael thinks I may have some scarring tissue building up. He then informed me that he would would work on “breaking that up” during my one hour appointment and I probably wouldn’t like him very much when I left. I informed Michael that telling me “breaking that up” was a really poor choice of words and could we please call it……”Stretching”? He then agreed that he had really used a poor choice of words, then proceeded to “stretch” me like crazy, and it was very apparent that he was indeed “breaking that up”. I had decided that I did not like Michael any longer. I told him that I had a medical massage scheduled immediately after our appointment. He then discovered a few more knots that are making […]

Busy is Best!

The entire day was filled with phone calls, bill paying, preparing things for the tax lady, Physical Therapy, errands and a walk outside! The days are much easier to get through when I fill them up! I love being able to walk outside. The last few days of walking, I have been trying to pump my arms throughout my walk as a part of my therapy. According to measurements at my PT appointments yesterday, I am improving nicely! I ate a little more than planned yesterday. I did dig into some leftover breakfast casserole at about 3:00, then still ate dinner. Sometimes I will eat in the afternoon, and skip dinner, or just eat fruit and veggies, but not yesterday. The scale has stayed the same since Friday, and I am not over on my points for the week. As long as I keep on track the next three days […]

Happy Monday!

Easter Sunday went as expected. Church early, then Brunch at my mom’s house. We chatted and hung out for a bit. Then I couldn’t wait to get home and walk outside. It was sunny and gorgeous! I took a nice long walk with a friend, then came home and got Tucker and headed back out. We were both exhausted by the time we got home. I’d say I got in a good 5 miles. My chart is filling up nicely!! I have walked 72 miles! Here is my weight loss chart. As long as I am below that green line, I’m good. While walking on the path in our neighborhood, I noticed the biggest Grand Daddy Long Leg in the whole entire WORLD!! I couldn’t believe the length of the legs on this guy! I got super close and crouched down to take a good look! Uh, it was a […]

Happy Easter!

Just checking in….. Had a great Saturday celebrating some birthdays with girlfriends! We had a spa day at a house where the whole basement is permanently set up for facials. We had a great room to lounge in with cozy furniture, plenty of pillows and blankets, coffee and tea, water, wine and a yummy vodka drink and light appetizers. We went one at a time (duh) and had great Girly chat while we waited for our turn. I am officially glowing! (I didn’t drink any alcohol!) Sunday morning early church, a little break at home, then headed to Mom’s. Look how cute she set the table! I took Sausage Muffins! 2 PPV a piece! Here are Saturdays Eats! “love the life you live, live the life you love”

Right on track…..and moving forward.

Fridays weigh in went well and the new strategy seems to be working! I met with my coach after my WW meeting and we talked about what is working best for me and agreed that different things work for each of us. We also agreed that this journey we are now on together is teaching us a lot about ourselves, and I love that. We have tweaked our initial plan just a bit, but the key things that seem to be working are….. 1. 8 glasses of water daily2. Exercise 6 times a week3. 30 PPV a day as a general rule The water for me is not a big deal. I stopped drinking pop on a regular basis a long time ago, I never have been a juice drinker, I don’t drink milk (except in my coffee), and it seems if I’m not drinking coffee or tea throughout the […]

Cookies for Breakfast!

I have been trying to not look at Pinterest as often as I was before, and I have been trying to not look at recipes and not watch the Food Network as often as I was before, in my effort to spend less time “thinking” about food. I really have only had a few “bad?” days in the last four weeks where I felt like I ate more than I should and turned to food as a result of stress or boredom. I feel like I am doing a pretty good job considering all the time I am spending at home alone. My new strategy includes a few changes, but still is a slow weight loss plan of possibly one pound a week. I think Friday’s results will be right on schedule. I did spend a couple of days this week browsing Pinterest for a few new ideas when I […]

Foods as Anti-Inflammatory

While getting my medical massage on Tuesday, I had a great chat with Beki, my massage therapist. Well, whenever I have seen her in the past, we have always had good chats, but I find her incredibly interesting to listen to. We talked about inflammation, and Ibuprofen and Naproxen and Ice Packs and Food as a anti-inflammatory. So I came home and looked up a few of the different foods that work as anti-inflammatories. Here are some of my favorites that will be easy for me to work into my weekly meals. Wild SalmonGreen TeaBlueberries (and most berries)EVOOBroccoliCauliflowerPineappleWalnutsSweet potatoesSpinach There were many other foods listed, but these are foods I like AND I even know what they are!! So for Wednesday, I plan to work in berries, spinach, EVOO, sweet potatoes and Green Tea! I’m curious to see if I feel and sleep better? A good friend reminded me that […]
