Saying "Good-Bye"

“Good-Bye” was harder than I realized. I had thought so much about all of the things that needed to be done in preparation for the trip to Dallas, and the things Tess wanted to get done once in Dallas, I hadn’t really taken the time to think about saying good bye at the airport. We had a nice, relaxed morning. We packed the car with my things, then left for the day. We had decided it would be a great day to figure out different routes around the city. (We had NOT anticipated or planned on it raining! Nor had we planned on faulty windshield wipers, especially since the blades were new. But unfortunately, we had both!) Before we headed downtown, we stopped for an early lunch. Because it was a little chilly and rainy outside, soup and a sandwich sounded good. Then we started our journey. Uh, none of […]

Monday FunDay in Dallas!

Well, we stayed up late chatting on Sunday, so we didn’t get a super early start on Monday, but we loved our first night in Dallas getting cozy in Tess’ new home. Monday, we maneuvered our way around downtown Dallas pretty well for a couple of rookies! Okay, actually, Tess did ALL of the maneuvering, I was really just along for the ride (white knuckled through most of it, but not because of her driving, but because of MY need to be the driver.) I discovered that actually, she drives a lot like I do, so it wasn’t so bad after all. 🙂 I was even able to take some pictures. The highways were endless!! The traffic was constant! At one point, the sun was in her eyes and the sun visors were just not doing the job. She had me hold the iPad up in between the visor and […]

Dallas, here we come.

We were on the road by 7:00 am. We decided to take the scenic route vs. Interstate 35 the entire way. Together, we planned and packed lots of healthy snacks for the road. Celery, peanut butter…….. Clementines, WW Cheese sticks, apple slices, Laughing Cow Cheese wedges…….. Finishing up last minute task. Look at all of her list! She gets that from me! He he he. High protein breakfast of egg whites and a Light English Muffin before we hit the road. Leaving Kansas! (I darn near missed the sign!) Hello Oklahoma! Lunch stop at the Hard Rock! This was an accident, but it was right off the highway! We were pretty sure it was meant to be! Look! A Bar! In the Hard Rock! Look! Beers……in a bar! We shared a Caesar salad and chicken quesadilla while trying to contain our excitement. (We were going to be good with a […]

Slumber Party!

These college kids came over for a “Going Away Party”. Pool, ping-pong……a few games I’d never even heard off, and I am guessing……beer? Nobody drove home. They all slept over. The basement looked ridiculous. Frozen pizzas went into the oven off and on all night, one at 4:00 am. They all giggled…boys included…..until after 5:00 am. I’m going to miss a houseful of kids around. They really make me laugh, and Tess’ friends always make me feel a part of the group. They’re all really good kids too. Here’s how the morning went. Everyone gathered in the kitchen for some of “Mama Jules” (I can’t remember when that nickname started, but I must admit, I’ve always liked it) coffee. I made a coffee corner a while back, and apparently, word got out! I made special orders, listened to stories about the night, and listened to more giggles. Then we popped […]

"Weigh-In" Day and "Back in the Zone"

“Weigh-In” went well. I didn’t lose much, but I lost, and that felt good. Todays Weight…..171.0. I lost 0.6. It really sucks that I let the 170’s creep back into my life, but they’ll be gone soon. No worries. I have actually made it to the treadmill THREE days in a row. I let the Holiday errand running and crazy schedule and shoulder problem all get in the way of my exercise routine. Excuses, I know. I go to the Dr. for my MRI next Friday to determine my shoulder issue. I’d just like life to get back to normal, whatever THAT means. I am constantly learning new things about my Ipad and blogging. I’m a little slow…..at most things. I just this week discovered how to take a picture of my screen. Screen shot? That would have been so helpful when trying to show all of you my Weigh […]

Fruits, veggies, pizza, water….REPEAT.

My habitual morning banana and coffee.0 PPV I totally have “Man Hands”, but they are no where NEAR the size they look in this picture. And my coffee mug looks like a tiny tea cup! A well deserved lazy day…..in my opinion.

It was a good lazy day, and I hadn’t had one of those in a while. My only chore for the day? Grocery shopping. It seems like there are a ton of things in the pantry, but the fridge, where the fresh and healthy options are kept? BARE! I started off with a Fiber One bar and coffee……2 PPV ……then a yogurt (yogurt un pictured)2 PPV While pondering my grocery list….I was starving! Happy New Year!

New Year’s Day seems to be the perfect time for reflecting……… I spent New Years Eve morning reorganizing and bill paying while parked in front of the check book, the computer and the shredder. I spent the entire afternoon reflecting….and watching it snow. I have blogged a lot about the changes I have made in my life since joining WW in September of 2009. I have blogged about my World Breaking Slow weight loss. I have blogged about binge eating to deal with stress, my love/hate relationship with exercise, how to have a huge plate of food for very few points, family, my moods, my silly mishaps. I have pretty much put it all out there. The blog has been much more to me than I ever thought it would be. It’s my outlet. It lets me talk without anyone really having to listen. I am still surprised when someone […]

Un Decorating. :(

Kinda makes me sad…….. Due to tradition, I typically decorate for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving, and I un decorate the weekend after New Years. The decorating is always fun, being creative, enjoying memories of past years, but the un decoration is kind of a bummer. It’s all over until next year. But I must say, when everything is put away and the house is back in order and all cleaned up, it feels like a fresh start for the new year. This year, since I will be helping Tess move next weekend, it really needed to be done this weekend. Time for a coffee break. That big bare spot is where the tree was……. Breakfast time. We had no eggs, and that always throws me for a loop, and I just haven’t been in an oatmeal mood, so peanut butter toast was the breakfast of choice during a little […]
