A Fruit and Nut Day

Just as I posted a blog stating that I needed to put my RXBar’s outta sight for a few days, I was running a bit behind and grabbed one of them and an apple to eat for breakfast in the car. I was gone from 8:00 to 4:00 yesterday with no meal plan for while I was gone. I stayed within my SmartPoints range and I still got in a full day of whole foods, it just wasn’t the best balanced day. Oh, and I made this White Chicken Chili the other day in the crockpot. Here is the picture from the Website. Looks amazing, right? Here is a picture of my my crockpot. It doesn’t look nearly as good, but it did have good flavor. It did call for Almond Milk, and I left that out. Maybe I’ll try this again using all of the ingredients and see what I […]

More Balls

You guys, it’s hard to come up with a blog post title every…single…day. I’m not that clever. Sometimes, I just gotta call it what it is. After posting my blog yesterday, Bird Balls, I received a reminder text from my doctor’s office that I had an appointment at 10:40 a.m. Thank goodness for all of the things that we can do with our cell phones! I had completely forgotten about it, so my 9:00 a.m. Hot Yoga class didn’t happen, but I did get in a 3 mile walk outside in the afternoon. I had planned to pick up some paint color samples to bring home. Yeah, that didn’t happen either. Here’s what did happen. After my appointment (just an annual thing), I went through the car wash, drove 1/2 mile when a gazillion (I am not exaggerating) birds flew over and about 10 of them pooped on my clean […]

Bird Balls

(Recipe Card Revised 12/05/17 to  reflect Freestyle SmartPoints) A quiet day here on Sunday. It was nice. I watched a little Netflix while Mike replaced all of the under cabinet lights in the kitchen. He was having a blast. I could tell. After I had new lights, I went in the kitchen and played with a Chicken and Turkey Meatball recipe that I found on Instagram.  I think the credit for this recipe goes to mudhustler_official. He calls them Bird Balls. Pretty simple. These huge meatballs are only TWO SmartPoints each. I’m out the door to Hot Yoga, then to pick out some paint colors for my upcoming projects! Happy Monday. I hope you all had a great weekend and that you have a great week planned for yourselves. Here are yesterday’s eats… Breakfast  Pork Sausage, White Sweet Potatoes, Peppers and Onions stuffed into this big Egg White Omelet and […]

Blue Dot Week

I am utilizing as many tools as I can in January to get back those healthy habits that went to the way side over the holidays. It obviously feels good physically to eat healthy, but it is also great for my mentality when I’m making healthy food choices, then tracking my success. Visualizing success can be great for the mindset. After discovering the Blue Dots on the WW App (a way to chart days in a healthy eating zone), I’ve challenged myself to earn a Blue Dot every day for the month of January. It’s been a great first week! I worked early at a couple of WW meeting yesterday morning. When I say early morning, that is no joke. I left my house at 5:45! You would have thought that would have sent me to bed early on Friday, right? Nope. I stayed up way too late watching TV and playing on Instagram. […]

What Why and How

It was a successful week in my Weight Watcher world that included attending my personal Weight Watcher meeting yesterday morning. I have not made attending my own meeting a priority and it felt good to be there yesterday. We talked about our Weight Watcher What, Why and How. When asked What our WW goal was, many of us, including myself, said “Health”. Then we were asked what that means. It was a different answer for many of us that answered Health. For some it meant taking less medication or no medications at all. For some it meant physically being able to do more. For some it meant better numbers from the Doctor’s office. For me it meant having more energy and feeling happy in my body. When asked How we would accomplish our goals, we were reminded that that had to happen in our minds. We all had to make the decision in our […]

A Good Winter Day

I love to watch the snow fall, preferably from my house while sitting by the fire while sipping on coffee. Yesterday I watched it snow as I drove down the interstate in rush hour traffic. I’m a working girl now ya know. I worked at an early morning WW meeting and it was a great training opportunity. The new year brings in new Weight Watcher members, and knowing what to do with a new member when they walk in the door is kind of important. I was happy to have the opportunity to train and to meet so many nice people, but also happy to be back home in my warm house by noon. After a few hours at home, I thought it might be fun to bundle up and take a walk on the trail in the snow.   This girl will go for a walk with me just about […]

More Cleaning

We are cleaning up the diet after the holidays and cleaning up the house! I like to give the house a good deep cleaning after taking all of the decorations down from the holidays. I get bored looking at the same stuff, so I also like to rearranging things a bit. Yesterday I called in some help. I love that she moved things around to places that I would not have thought of to put them, but now it is very apparent to me that I have some dated (um, and kinda dusty) things sitting around the house.  I’ve painted every bathroom and bedroom in this house several times in the 17 years that we have lived here, but we have never changed the color of the living room and the entry has been the same color for years. I haven’t really bought new decor for either of these areas […]

Cleaning Up

In an effort to clean up my body after the holidays, I’m dedicating January to eating lots of whole foods and very little processed foods. I already feel better after a few days of eating lots of lean protein, fruits and veggies, raw nuts and drinking lots of water. I got 30 minutes of treadmill yesterday and plan to go to a Hot Yoga Class today. That’s it for now! I’m organizing my house today. I have a friend coming over to hep me rearrange all of my accessories. My dining room table is a mess right now with every little accessory on it! I hope when we are done that it looks like I bought a bunch of new stuff! lol Here are yesterday’s eats… Breakfast – 4 SP Fajita Scramble Peppers and Onions sautéed in Cooking Spray with Fajita seasoning. I mixed those in with my scrambled Egg Whites […]

Sometimes, Simple is Best

Meal planning and prep can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t really have to be. When I feel myself overthinking grocery shopping and meals for the week, I go back to basics. For me that means making sure I have some Chicken Breast cooked up, a variety of veggies on hand, and some Protein (Chicken, Tuna or Egg) Salad made up for easy lunches. I hadn’t actually planned a food prep day yesterday, but I ended up spending just a couple of hours preparing just a few simple things. I baked Chicken Breast (brush lightly with Olive Oil, salt and pepper) and added a few carrots to the baking sheet. 425 for 25 minutes. Perfect.     Now I have plenty of Chicken to use for dinner this week and I have extra to freeze. The cooked carrots will be a handy side dish to heat up.   While the chicken was […]

Utilize Your Tools

I feel rested and ready for the New Year. How about you? We took it pretty easy around here yesterday. I did buy just a few groceries. FYI. Trader Joe’s is closed on New Years Day. I found that out last year when I pulled into the parking lot, and I did the exact same thing again this year. Whole Foods however, is open. I would consider my grocery list to be a tool for me when it comes to preparing for the week. How about you? Do you make a list? Do you know what you are going to be cooking for the week? Are you more apt to walk into the grocery store without a list and shop around until you have enough groceries to get you by for the next few days? I do both. When I go with a list and at least an idea of what […]
