Yesterday went really well and I swear I feel better already. It’s a mental thing. I’m aware. I made breakfast for me and the hubs. He’s been working from home quite a bit lately, so no need to prep his breakfast the night before. Now we just eat breakfast together like a real couple! Every morning now feels like Sunday. My planned one hour workout for the day? Mow and edge the lawn before it got too hot. That plan ended up being a 90 minute lawn mowing, edging and weed pulling session that had me overheated and dead! Egads it was HOT! Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! After my resurrection, and a cold shower, I met my mom for lunch at Panera. She walked in the door and said that she was too hot to eat. I wasn’t really hungry for lunch yet anyhow, nor had I decided what I would order. She had […]

Why Whole30?
“Think of the Whole30 like pushing a “reset” button with your health, your habits and your relationship with food.” The Whole30 You can read my Whole30 Recap from last year to get a better understanding of what Whole30 really is. In a very brief nutshell, the Whole30 is 30 days of eliminating several foods from your diet, and not snacking in between meals. After 30 days, you may reintroduce foods (one food group at a time) and determine if those foods cause you any problems, then decide if you want to reintroduce that food back into your diet permanently. There are a lot of No’s on the Whole30. NO….Grains, Dairy, Sugar (real or artificial, this includes honey and maple syrup), Legumes, do not recreate Baked Goods or Treats from Whole30 approved foods (pancakes, ice cream made from frozen banana’s), NO Alcohol and NO snacking in between meals. Why Whole30? The […]
Happy July 4th!
It has taken me several days to even attempt any sort of a routine since coming back from my trip. Thursday, when I got home, the fridge was empty, and I never did make it to the grocery store. Mike and I went out for Mexican Food for dinner that night and we caught each other up on our week away from one another. Friday morning I did go to my Weight Watcher meeting, but after indulging in Chips and Salsa and Beer the night before, I did not weigh in. I had plans for a round of Whole30 starting on Saturday, and I knew that my vacation weight would be off soon. Mike and I had no social plans for the Holiday Weekend, so starting the Whole30 on Saturday, July 2nd, didn’t seem like any big deal to me. Mike had suggested that we start the Whole30 on Tuesday, […]
Planes, Trains and Automobiles….and some Nature Stuff Too!
This post has taken me way longer to write than I had anticipated. I know that I have all sorts of typo’s and grammatically errors, but you guys forgive me, right? Mike and I don’t think that we have ever been apart for seven nights. I don’t think that either one of us realized just how much we would miss each other! Needless to say, these last couple of days have been really nice together and we’ve enjoyed our long weekend. We had planned to start the Whole30 as soon as I came home, and after a failed day one, we’ve decided to start the Whole30 on Tuesday, July 5th. We’ve discussed doing the Whole30 about every three months or so, just to get back to the healthy basics, and I think this sounds like a good plan. Okay, that’s my mini version of what’s been going on here for the last two […]
Ready, Not Ready
I’m out the door to work the food truck in just a bit. It’s going to be close to 100 degrees today, so I’m super excited to be hanging out by the grill all day! Several months ago, I fell down the stairs. My heel caught the edge of the step on the landing, and down I went, about five steps to the hardwood. Well, I did it again. Rug burn on my arm, huge bruise on my butt, and a sore back. I think I’ll get on a plane, ride in a cab, spend the night with a stranger, and go hiking in the woods with the bears. For realz though, I’m so ready, but not ready at all. When your kid works for an airline, you fly free, and that’s awesome. When you fly free, you fly “Stand By” and you do carry on luggage. One bag for sight seeing? One […]
Time for an Adventure
It’s time for a little fun. I have a niece that is a traveler/adventurer/explorer, and I’ve always admired her eagerness and willingness to travel the states, alone. Isn’t she beautiful? She looks just like me! She has biked, hiked, hitch hiked, couch surfed and lived in several different places all over the county in her young life. I think that she may be one of the most interesting, and certainly one of the most courageous people that I know. I am proud to call her my niece. The handsome dude below, her brother, my nephew (duh) is currently working for the Peace Corps in Samoa, teaching English to grade school students. There is a traveling/adventurous gene in there somewhere that I greatly admire in both of them! My niece is currently working at Graylag Cabins in Pittsfield, NH, and I’ve decided that I need to go visit her so that we can spend […]
Great Weekend!
I took a short break from the blog for a few days, and now I’m ready to get back to my daily routine, for a few days anyhow. I’m taking a trip at the end of this week that I’ll talk about tomorrow, and I won’t be blogging while I’m gone. It’s been a great week, and we’ve been fairly social. I worked and sweated (a lot!) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the food truck with this crazy lady. Friday, at 1:00 pm, in likely the hottest part of the day, I decided to mow. The sweat doesn’t show up in this picture, but I almost died. For real. I went to my meeting Friday morning, and I’m up two pounds. I’ve definitely relied on food this last week while dealing with some emotions. When I don’t blog, it’s easier for me to eat too much and not […]
Faith Hope and Love
I wrote my last blog post on Sunday morning. Mike and I were on our way out the door with friends to go to brunch, and spend the day doing some fun things in Kansas City. We planned to check out the new Street Car downtown, go to Brunch, and maybe hit a few hot spot patios. We did all of those things and had a great day. When we got home, I was pooped and just wanted to veg on the couch and watch TV. After turning on the TV, we learned of the tragedy in Orlando. I’ve done a terrible job here of expressing my feelings, and this short post took me forever to write, but I’m finding it hard to write. With all that is going on in our country right now, sitting down to write a blog about my daily meals and exercise routine seems somehow […]
Weekend Summer Fun!
Friday I got my walk in before heading off to my WW meeting, so my exercise plan to get in one hour a day/5 days a week, is right on track. I walked 3 days, and went to Yoga two days. I’ve maintained 171 for two weeks. If you read regularly, you know my body loves 172, so I’m stupid giddy about a pound. Call me crazy. Friday night, Mike and I decided we’d have a little date night and have dinner out on a patio somewhere. Somewhere ended up being a mile up the street at Paddy O’Guigleys. It’s a little place on the inside, but outside, they have a really nice big patio with live music on the weekends. We ended up seeing several people we knew (cuz it’s right up the street!) and had a great night! I love a patio with live music, a cold beer […]
Happy Friday!
I ate breakfast out yesterday with a Wine Book Club friend, then had a productive day at home. We sat down at the restaurant and she just looked at me started laughing. She told me that she had to take my picture and to just go on looking at the menu. I was laughing at her laughing. She then showed me this picture. I got my walk in early this morning and now I’m out the door to my Weight Watcher’s Meeting. It’s been a great week and I’m looking forward to a great weekend! Here is what I ate yesterday. Breakfast – 14 SP Breakfast Taco’s. Corn Tortilla’s, Egg Whites with Jalapeño and Tomatoes, Lettuce, Salsa and 1/2 of those Potatoes. Skipped the sour cream. Un-Pictured Non Fat Latte Lunch – 10 SP Mixed Greens, Chicken, Diced Apple, Egg, Dried Cranberries and Vinaigrette Dinner – 9 […]
