Feeling a Little Blah……

It was such a long and fun weekend. The last of the long weekend of fun was a Monday night Happy Hour Birthday celebration with a few friends and more food and drink than I needed.    We actually had a Tornado Warning, and someone decided it was a great idea to go outside and take a look at the sky. This was posted to Facebook by someone living close to me.   I took this picture.   A little scary…..   But not scary enough, because we moved the party outside to the covered deck!   I ended up going to bed late on Monday night with a hint of a sore throat. Tuesday morning, I didn’t feel so great. I had a few things that I needed to get done, and by the afternoon, I was feeling pretty crappy. I did make it to the grocery store…. We literally had […]

Weekend Fun!

Since my last post, I did a little Babysitting on Thursday, went to an Engagement Party Friday, a Wedding on Saturday and a Wine Tour on Sunday. I’ve had a really busy and fun weekend with lots of family and friends…and lots of food and drinks. Thursday night I babysat one of my granddaughter’s, Charlotte, at her house and spent the night. We had a great time playing, but I must admit, I was not prepared for the trigger foods that can be found in the house where children live, so after Charlotte crashed on me at 7:30, I had a few too many crackers and potato chips while binge watching Orange is the New Black, but I had gone to the grocery store in advance and made myself a salad for dinner! Terribly unflattering picture of me and my salad, adorable picture of Charlotte! I love this kid.   Friday, I […]

Happy July!

Happy July!  It’s time to set some new goals to keep me on the healthy track. I like short term goals. I do best with those. My 5 Week Challenge was perfect for me. Now I’ve come up with a plan for Exercise, Food and Drink for July and August.    Exercise… I really love my walks, but I’m going to increase how often I go to Jazzercise and Yoga and hopefully increase my cardio for the next two months. Food… When I eat more than half of my extra 49 Weekly points, I maintain, but I don’t lose. I need to stick to the 26 Daily Points, and just barely dip into those extra 49 points as little as possible. Drinks… I need limits on my dang drinks!   Here is my plan for July and August. Exercise Jazzercise three times a week (I’ve never gone more than once or twice a week) Yoga one time […]

5 Week Challenge…Day 35…The End

Yesterday was the last day of my 5 Week Challenge. I walked 25 miles a week for 5 weeks. Not only did I walk 125 miles in 5 weeks, I also managed to squeeze in a few Yoga classes, and a few Jazzercise classes. Minus a few occasions, I ate mostly Weight Watcher Simply Filling Foods. I only lost 4 pounds in the past 5 Weeks, but I blame my love of beer for that. Okay, I blame me. I’m really not upset though. I feel good about my accomplishments. Making an exercise and food challenge for myself forces me to get out and exercise on the days that it would be so easy for me to make excuses to NOT exercise. It also reminds me to eat more fruits and veggies and lean protein. My husband started walking with me, and he hasn’t done any type of exercise in […]

5 Week Challenge…Day 34

Yesterday was an interesting day, and it’s going to be an interesting week as well. We are having our floors redone, and basically we have to be out of the house every day at 9:00 am, then we can return at 9:00 pm to tip toe in socks to the stairs and go up to the bedroom. My morning started off with a trip to Doggie Day Care (the dogs obviously can’t be around for the week either) for both of my dogs. Before leaving the house, I stepped in pee in my closet. I could tell it was from Tucker because it was all over the place, and Mishka only pees in a small spot, and that only happens when she is sick, which she is not. I cussed a lot and cleaned up the pee. On the way to Doggie Day Care (How did I live without this place??), Mishka […]

5 Week Challenge…Day’s 31, 32 & 33

I haven’t been here to blog for three day’s, so I have lots to say.  On Friday morning, my daughter and her boyfriend came in town for a super quick visit. I picked them up at the airport early Friday morning, then drove them back to the airport on Saturday afternoon. It was quick, but we fit a lot in and had a great time! They both work for Southwest Airlines, and employee’s fly for free! So…yay me! I get to see my kiddo a lot and I love it! Seriously….I think they are super cute together!   Tess, Manuel and I had lunch with some friends on Friday, then Mike joined us and we all went to dinner with our son and daughter-in-law, Jake and Jordan. Tess is gradually introducing Manuel to the family, (trying not to overwhelm him) and Jake and Jordan didn’t get the chance to meet […]

5 Week Challenge…Day 30

Guess who greeted me when I opened the garage door yesterday morning to head out for my walk? Yep. The foxes are still around. I stood in my driveway and watched this fox walk all the way down my street….on the sidewalk….with his breakfast just dangling out of his mouth. I kept expecting him to dart into a storm drain, or run across the street. Nope. He was just out for a morning walk down the sidewalk, just like me. (Just to be clear, I did NOT have any breakfast dangling out of my mouth while I was walking.) We worked the food truck yesterday. You guys….it is super HAWT in there, but I’m all smiles handing out yummy food to happy people.   Thursday was a much better food and drink day for me than Wednesday was. I’ve eaten almost all of my 49 extra points this week, so I’m […]

5 Week Challenge…Day 29

It was a super busy Wednesday with a little Food Truck fun, followed by a jazzercise class, then an evening with my Bookclub girls poolside. I had a really great evening sitting around the pool with the girls, but I ate and drank way more than I should have. The girls made a yummy drink with White Wine, Limoncello and Sprite Zero, and it was going down really well. There were two delicious dips, and my mistake was not eating dinner before I went, and then standing around the food instead of making a small plate and walking away.  Egads……. Here are yesterday’s eats….. Breakfast – 7 PPV Blueberry Pancakes, 1/2 Banana with 1 T. Almond Butter, Frothy Coffee   Lunch – 7 PPV Tuna mixed with 1 T. Dill Pickle Relish, 1 T Mustard, 1/4 C shredded carrots, 1/2 chopped Apple in Lettuce Leaves, Carrots with Hummus and Feta. […]

5 Week Challenge…Day 28

I walked 6 miles yesterday morning and hit the 100 mile mark in my challenge. Whoop Whoop!! My plans for the day were cancelled yesterday, and with so many full day’s coming up over the next week and a half, I decided to do a lot of nothing, and it was awesome! Here are the day’s eats…… Breakfast – 6 PPV 2/3 C Plain Nonfat Greek Yogurt with Vanilla Stevia drops and Cinnamon, topped with Strawberries, Blueberries, Banana slices and 1 T. of Granola, 4 scrambled Egg Whites, and Toast with 1/8th of an avocado, smashed with lime juice and sea salt.   Lunch – 7 PPV One piece of leftover Zucchini Lasagna from the Skinnytaste Cookbook. It’s all gone now. 🙁   Snack – 2 PPV Fruit Kabob’s with Dark Chocolate Drizzle and raw unsweetened coconut. I’m going to bookclub tonight and taking an appetizer. Guess what I’m taking?? […]

5 Week Challenge…Day 27

In the exercise department, I had a great day yesterday. I got a few miles in yesterday morning and I went to a Jazzercise class in the afternoon. My morning started off so well. Before my walk, I ate an early and light breakfast. Maybe too early and maybe too light. Sometime after I ate my lunch, I was thinking about the lasagne in the refrigerator that I made late on Sunday night. Mike and I had shared a piece and I knew it was delicious. I wished that I had just had some of that for lunch instead of the omelet that I ate. While I was thinking about the lasagne, and trying not to eat it, I ate part of a leftover biscuit from Father’s Day with a little honey on it. Then I ate a few raw almonds. Then I ate a few Chocolate covered almonds and put […]
