I went to my mom’s on Sunday morning to meet her and my brother to discuss our Thanksgiving Menu. While we talked about all of the yummy food that we will be eating for Thanksgiving, my mom and brother were enjoying gigantic cinnamon rolls, heated, with butter dripping off of them. I drank black coffee and pretended that I was content. After deciding who would bring what to Thanksgiving Dinner, I headed to Heritage Park to get a few miles in! When I did my 100 Mile Challenge in September, I did a pretty good job of spreading my miles out through the month. This month I’m starting off a little slow, so I’ve got some miles to catch up on if I’m going to be at the halfway point come the middle of the month! I’ve got some walking to do this week! Here are yesterday’s eats! Breakfast Toasted […]

Keeping it Real….
Typically when I go out of town for a fun trip, I try to be careful about what I eat, I try to drink a lot of water, I basically drink whatever alcohol I want, sometimes I exercise, sometimes I don”t and I don’t think that I have ever gone on a trip and tracked my points. I blogged this past week in detail about going out of town and facing the challenges of food and drinks while traveling. I made last week different. I tracked everything (I did have to guess on a lot of foods) that I ate, drank lots of water, and I earned activity points! Throughout my Weight Watchers Week last week, I ate my daily points, I ate all of my weekly points, and I ate all of my earned activity points. I wasn’t able to make it to my meeting on Friday morning, but I […]
Plan, Track, Success!
I’ll keep this short. My fingers are tired from typing yesterday! Breakfast in my hotel room yesterday morning was an apple that I had brought, and black coffee. I was enjoying my hotel robe too much to leave the room, and I had decided that I had spoiled myself enough, so I passed on room service. Lunch was fish taco’s, a banana and a latte at the airport. Snack’s were wine and nuts and random things that Ashli kept pulling out of her purse while we were on the plane. Dinner was the quickest plate of scrambled egg whites that I could throw together as soon as I walked in the door when I got home. I was starving! It was a challenging last three days of food and drinks, but I feel like I got through it successfully, and after the little mountain climbing excursion, I think I earned […]
Best Day Ever!
First, let me say thank you to my friend, Ashli. Thank you for thinking to ask me to join you on your business trip. Thank you for remembering that my daughter has this kick ass job that allows her mom to fly for free. Thank you for sharing your hotel room with me. Thank you for being so sweet, and thank you for having a business conference at the Omni Hotel and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! I knew that yesterday would be a great day, but I didn’t realize that it would be one of the best day’s ever! I like the saying…..”Stop and Smell the Roses”. I like to think that I do that often. Yesterday…..I did it all day long. I really don’t even know where to start, so I guess I’ll start with waking up at 6:00 am in the morning! […]
Beautiful In Scottsdale!
I arrived with my friend, Ashli, in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona yesterday and I am so happy I came on this trip! The view from the resort is beautiful. I’ll take lots of pictures today, and post them tomorrow! Ashli is here on a business trip, and she invited me to come along. There are about 150 women here for a women’s conference and they have a full schedule today and tomorrow! Yesterday was a challenge, and I didn’t do as well on my points as I had hoped. Breakfast was smart, lots of protein with egg whites and greek yogurt. Lunch was pretty smart as well. We were sitting around the pool and the menu that they offered had lots of healthy options. We went with the Mahi Mahi Taco’s on corn tortilla’s, and Ashli and I shared the order. While sitting poolside and having lunch, we had a Mia […]
Scottsdale? Sure!
I’m on my way to the airport this morning nice and early for a last minute get away! Since my daughter, Tess, started working for Southwest Airlines, Mike and I, as her parents, have enjoyed the benefits of “Parents Fly for Free!”. We are required to fly stand by, and we have learned to fly with a relaxed attitude since we might not get on the flight that we prefer. We’ve taken several trips using our “free flights”, and so far, each trip that we’ve taken has worked out perfectly! Tess say’s that we’ve been really lucky! A few weeks ago, a friend of mine mentioned a business trip that she was going to be taking to Scottsdale, Arizona. After chatting for a bit, she told me that I should just hop on one of those free flights and go with her and stay in her room for free, then […]
Planning for the Challenges….
It was another successful day with challenges, and the planning paid off! This is a really detailed blog of how I got through yesterday, but I feel really focused because I have so much going on, and I don’t want a gain this week! My plan for this busy week is to earn a lot of activity points, and have them available to me. I plan to dip into my 49 Weekly points, because I know with all of the socializing I’ll be doing this week, I’ll need them. Maybe blogging about every detail of every food decision, might help someone else get through a challenging day or week as well, so forgive the detail…. I was getting together with my mom and my aunt at my aunt’s house yesterday, and I knew she planned to have coffee and bagels. She was sweet enough to call me and ask me […]
Successful Halloween….
I woke up Friday morning knowing I needed to have a really good day. I’ve not been “On Plan” the last several day, and by a good day, I mean I needed to stay within my points, not eat ANY candy, and have limited or no alcohol. Candy is a huge trigger food for me, and typically at Halloween, I’ve learned to buy candy that I don’t care for, Skittles, Starburst, the fruit stuff…NO CHOCOLATE! What did I buy this year? We had THREE Trick or Treaters last night! I have a huge bowl of chocolate bars in my house, and I didn’t eat ANY of them yesterday! After posting my blog, I think I’ll put a post on Facebook! “I’m taking Trick or Treater’s today too! No costume necessary!” After my WW meeting, I met a girlfriend at one of our big parks and we took an awesome 6.5 […]
Happy Halloween!
October has been a really full and fun month with the KC Royals winning the playoffs and advancing to the World Series! What an awesome month of baseball. We also had a lot going on socially and I got to enjoy my daughter Tess being in town for almost a full week! That being said, I’ve just been a really crappy Weight Watcher member as of late. I’ve drank too much, I’ve ordered food items when eating out that I don’t typically order, and I’ve lacked on my exercise. September was such an awesome month with my 100 Mile Walking Challenge, and I liked what the scale was doing. I got on the scale yesterday morning, and it was actually less than I was expecting, so like an idiot, instead of taking advantage of that and feeling like I had a head-start on my new weight watchers week, I ate […]
Let’s Go Royals…..Clap Clap…. Clap Clap Clap!
(revised 10-29-14 with banana snack that I forgot about!) That’s the chant you will hear all throughout the Royals games at Kauffman Stadium. If you’re a baseball fan, heck, even if you’re NOT a baseball fan, you likely know that the KC Royals won game 6 (10-0!) of the World Series last night. That means we are now 3 and 3 in the series with the Giants, which means we will be playing Game 7 tonight to become the World Series Champions of 2014!! This has been such an exciting time in Kansas City! Fountains around the city have Blue water…. ……T-shirt stands are set up on corners all over the metropolitan area, people have an extra energy about them and you can feel the pride in the city! I’m so excited for the game tonight! Let’s DO THIS ROYAL’S!! While watching the game, we were also watching […]
