Yesterday I was in a huge hurry to write my blog and get out the door to the DMV. I failed to mention in my blog that I did NOT get in a ONE mile run on Tuesday. I did however walk 6.8 Miles and ride my bike 3 miles. I was just not feeling it after that. Lesson learned. ALWAYS run first. 🙂 Oh, and speaking of running, I blogged about signing up to run a 10K on July 4th, and due to a schedule conflict, that did NOT happen. I am currently looking into adding another 5K to my list though, and hopefully, before the summer is over, my friend Rebecca and I will get in a 10K too! I did get my ONE mile run in on Wednesday. I decided to see how Tucker would do on a run with me. I see people running with their […]

gorgeous….GorGeous….GORGEOUS Outside Yesterday!!!
First of all, this was the first thing I saw when I looked at my phone for the first time yesterday morning! It really put me in a good mood to start off my day! Thanks, Weight Watchers! (If you’re not a WW member, the online tools and the app are awesome!!) I Walked to Starbuck’s with a friend, we had coffee, chatted, walked home. 5.2 Miles! I Walked the Dogs….1.6 Miles I pumped up the tires and rode my bicycle…..3.3 Miles! It was a great day outside!! Rent My Dog….For Free!
What a whacky day! At noon, the Dog Trainer came to my house. We are on week six of dog training. I have to say, behavior has changed….there is less barking….he now waits for permission to get on the furniture….he has limited access to upstairs and downstairs….he comes to me on command (well, for the most part), but Tucker still wants to poop in the house (twice this week!) and he has now developed some terrible anxiety about being “gated” in the kitchen! This has resulted in tearing into the dog food/treat cabinet and scratching up the kitchen cabinets in the process! Since I don’t want the kitchen torn up, I’m back to letting him roam the first floor while I am gone. I don’t really know how else to handle that, and apparently, neither does the trainer. The trainer is expensive, and they do have a money back guarantee, […]
Eat Fat, Feel Fat. Eat Lean, Feel Lean.
You really are what you eat. When I eat fatty food’s or unhealthy foods, I feel unhealthy and fat. When I eat lean meats and fruits and veggies and whole grains, I feel healthy, I feel lean, no matter what the scale says. I feel so good when I make goals and recommit. One of my blog readers made a comment on my recent post, “Weight Loss and Socializing”. I mentioned in this post that I would only drink alcohol one time per week, and keep all trigger foods out of the house. Here is her comment. “I think alcohol is a real problem with weight loss. I love my glass of wine, but it prevents weight loss and usually mean pounds creeping back on for me. The once a week limit sounds good to me. Also trigger food out of the house…goodbye chips! I struggle with getting in water, fruit, […]
The Farmer’s Market and Eggplant Parmesan
(Updated July 15th, 2014. I left out a step in the Eggplant Parmesan. It is important to get the extra water out of the Eggplant. I’ve now added that step.) Farmer’s Market I spent Saturday morning at the Overland Park Farmer’s Market. I grew up in that part of town, and it feels so good to see it thriving like it is. There was a time not too long ago that it had become a quiet little part of town that seemed to have been forgotten. Now there is so much going on there on a Saturday morning! I love it! I met my mom and we sat outside at one of the coffee shop’s and listened to the live music…. It was the perfect Saturday morning! Here’s what I bought at the Market! Those Green Beans are CRAZY long! I’ll cook those one night this week […]
Weight Loss and Socializing
These last few months have been the most difficult months so far in my weight loss journey. I have put some of those lost pounds back on. My spirits are good, and I am happy, so that is good, but over the last several months, my weight crept back into the low 160’s…then into the mid 160’s….and now it is into the high 160’s. I’m running and doing Yoga and my body feels strong and good, but I’ve partied a little too frequently these last few months. Socializing has always seemed to be my biggest obstacle. Several times during my weight loss, I would hit a plateau, and then put limits on my socializing and adult beverages. It helps every time, and I know this. I don’t even remember when I made this, but I have one copy of it hanging in my exercise room and one hanging in my […]

Doggie Anxiety……
This post has absolutely NOTHING to do with weight loss at all. Well, except for the fact that my dogs anxiety causes ME anxiety, which can cause some emotional eating. But thankfully today…..it did not. I took a spontaneous day trip with an old friend, relying on my awesome dog sitter, Jennifer, to take care of my dogs. She is reliable, always available, and does whatever I need her to do. One afternoon, she unexpectedly came over just to ask if she could walk my dogs because she was bored. Seriously, this girl ROCKS!!! I’m starting to think that most of Tucker’s “accidents” are possibly related to separation anxiety. He seems to be making a mess when I leave the house. He was showing some improvement, so I was starting to feel hopeful. I sent Jennifer a text to see how things were going. She let me know that Tucker […]

So Many Challenges
Challenges A few day’s ago, I blogged about what a challenging month it was going to be and my plan to get through it all. I planned to track everything that I ate, and make the best choices possible. Here is EXACTLY what I said that I would do. “My plan to get through the month is to TRACK everything I eat and drink and keep active!” Okay, first of all, I have apparently forgotten to exercise for the last THREE days!! Wednesday, we had a birthday dinner to go to. I ate before I went and was really glad that I had. Success! Thursday was a wine dinner, and although I ate well, I drank too much wine and lost track of how many points I drank. Uh…not a success. Friday was the 4th, and I went to the lake with friends, and I ate and drank really well. […]
