It’s been a really busy and fun past couple of days with more fun to come today! I’ll keep this short because there’s lots to do this morning! On Thursday, I got to spend the whole day with my “Little Sis”, Samone. Samone and I were just matched up in the Big Brother Big Sister Program at the beginning of May, then she was out of town for the month of June, so I’ve missed her and I was eager to get back to seeing her on a weekly basis. We decided to spend the day together at my house. I had dinner plans that evening, and I was taking an appetizer. Beautiful Day for a Walk!
I’m not sure what the high was yesterday, but I’m fairly certain it was only in the 70’s!!! The predicted high today? 82! I can’t really think of better outdoor walking weather! Can you? I got in my ONE mile run and I took Tucker for two “Poop” walks yesterday. That’s what I’m calling our walks now. “Poop” walks. One walk was right at a mile, and walk number two was a mile and a half. Sometimes these walks only take about 10 minutes to be “productive”, and sometimes they are more like 20 minutes. It’s really hard to say if we’re making any progress on the house training. His eating schedule and his bathroom schedule are making no sense at all to me. Yoga and a Run!
Yoga and a Run It felt great to get in a good exercise day! Of the Yoga classes that I have been to in the last several weeks, this particular Tuesday class is my favorite so far! I ran my mile for the first time in over two weeks. I was hoping to get it done in less than 12 minutes. I made it. Barely. 11:39. July Goals I woke up this morning excited to start a new month. Last month was a disaster as far as bad luck goes. This month will surely be better. Weight Update I got to 154 lbs for the very first time back in October, then I just freaked out and put on 10 pounds over the holiday’s and vacations. It’s still there. June Goals
June Goals Wait. June is over? Can you believe 2014 is already HALF over? Geeezzzz. For my June Goals, I decided to try two new produce items each week, and run one mile everyday. New Produce Items Parsnips….While boiling them for Whipped Parsnips, I thought they smelled disgusting, so I threw them out. Radicchio….I roasted it with Goat Cheese. Looked and smelled delicious. Tasted gross, so I threw it out. Cilantro…..Click HERE for the Sweet Potato Quinoa Cake recipe! These were SO GOOD!! Ancho Chiles….and used them for THIS Copy Cat Chipotle Chicken recipe! Yummy! Kohlrabi…..I ate it raw and sliced it thin with apple slices and Cara Cara Orange Vanilla White Balsamic Vinegar. I liked it! Artichoke….I steamed it and it did NOT turn out well. Grandkid’s are Exhausting!
I just had the craziest 36 hours ever!! Okay, maybe not EVER, but it was pretty crazy. It’s Sunday night and it’s 9:00 pm, and Amiyah and Malik just went home. They got here at 9:00 am on Saturday. Here’s what we did on Saturday…….. 1. Went out to breakfast 2. Walked the dogs 3. Played in the sprinklers in the backyard 4. Packed a cooler and went to the neighborhood swimming pool 5. Played in the garage with the garage door open during a thunderstorm 6. Watched TWO movies 7. Built a pillow/blanket fort in the living room 8. Grilled out hot dogs after the storm 9. Resting up for the weekend….
Yesterday was actually a pretty relaxing day compared to the rest of this week. We did pick up a lunch yesterday with the Food Truck, so I got to eat yet another delicious lunch! Her Chicken Salad Rocks!!! I grocery shopped yesterday afternoon like I hadn’t done in a long time. Two of our grandkids will be here in about an hour, and they are staying until tomorrow night! These kids eat ALL DAY LONG!! So I loaded up! I was hoping to pack a cooler and spend the day with them at the neighborhood pool today, but it’s super cloudy, so I better get busy and come up with a Plan B! I Burned Some Serious Calories!!
Hopefully I burned off some of those calories during the day on Thursday that I had at my dinner out Wednesday night! Yesterday, I went to a 30 Minute Core Yoga Class at 9:00 am. Then I went to the 60 minute Yoga class that follows that! I forgot to eat breakfast before I left, so I came home ready to eat the house! We were out of eggs, and I wasn’t in the mood for oatmeal, and I was in a rush. Leftovers were sounding pretty good. It was one of the oddest eating days that I have had in a while. Big Brother Big Sister Organization
(Update four hours after original posting because I didn’t even SPEAK of the big old burger in my lunch picture! Just pretended that it didn’t even happen!) Recently I have become a Big Sis in the Big Brother Big Sister Organization. If you haven’t read a blog that I have written about it yet, well then let me introduce you to Samone! She is 12 years old, and immediately, I felt like we were a great Match! Back at Yoga!
Yesterday was the first day back to a Yoga class after tweaking my back just a tad on Father’s Day. It wasn’t that big of a deal, but it was just enough that I was trying not to make it worse. This was an awesome Yoga class. I can not believe how different Yoga class from Yoga class can be and how different all of the instructor’s are! I am loving the variety! A friend of mine suggested we buy this Groupon and try out this Yoga location. We still really like the other location and will continue to go there too, but now we’ll have two classes a week to attend with a nice variety. Walk, Walk, Walk…….
It was a busy day, but nothing super exciting to report. I did head out for a 5 Mile walk with a friend, and that turned into a 6 Mile Walk! We kept up a heck of a pace too! Heck! This is almost as fast as I run!!! 😉 I do love this path, but my fear of snakes keeps me from walking it alone. I guess I figure if I walk with someone, I can hide behind them? Shove them in front of me? We didn’t see any snakes yesterday, but the path was looking gorgeous! Can you see the deer? She would NOT take her eyes off of us!
