Loving Fall

Happy Friday! I am loving all of the trees these past several days. The only bummer is that these gorgeous leaves fall off of the trees so quickly! I am trying to soak up as much of it as I can. The view out my back door.   I love walking up my street right now.   I’ve had a few days of over 10,000 steps this week and I thank these trees and their gorgeous colors for getting me outside. Fall perfection right here. No filter, just pretty colors hanging out on the sidewalk before the wind takes them away.   On November 5th, I participated in the “5K LUNG evity Walk and Fun Run to End Lung Cancer” with the goofballs pictured below. My friend, Liz (in the red hat) was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year. She has been through chemo and radiation and is back at […]

Love the Job, Love the People

I started writing this blog post on Friday afternoon, got side tracked, then never did make it back here! What I had started to blog about on Friday is how much I love my Weight Watcher job and and my members. Some of you may know that I was just hired by Weight Watchers and went through my training last December. Some of you also know that this is a job that I have thought about doing for a really long time. My job as a WW Leader in some ways feels so new still because I am always learning, but in other ways it feels like I have been a Weight Watcher Leader forever. I’ve certainly been a member forever and I could talk WW talk all damn day. I was ecstatic when I was hired. I couldn’t believe I was finally going to be working for Weight Watchers doing a job […]

Shrimp Taco’s

Weight Watchers shared a picture of mine recently on Instagram, so I thought I better get this post updated into an actual recipe post.  Sometimes my pictures look great and other times they are crap. I guess these pictures turned out pretty good and WW decided to share. If you are new here, I’m also a WW Leader and a WW Ambassador, so I’m ecstatic that they shared this! Okay, lets talk seasoning. Have you tried this seasoning? I buy it at Whole Foods. I know there are other fish seasonings out there that are just as good. A friend of mine buys one at Costco and she loves it. However, THIS is my fav! I have used cod, halibut, tilapia and most recently shrimp with this particular seasoning and they all tasted great! Mix the seasoning with warm water, add shrimp and marinade in the fridge. Add oil to a skillet […]

Yoga and More Shopping!

Yesterday was one of those days that I’d like to do all over again today. Coffee with a blanket on the deck, but real quick. It was chilly and windy! Then a nice pancake brunch….. After brunch, I paid bills, balanced the checkbook, sorted the mail. Those task I could do without today. Then…Yoga. I know that I have got to get back to an exercise routine of some sorts in between these two surgeries. My favorite things to do are Yoga and Walking and there is no reason that I shouldn’t be getting one of those in at least 5 days a week right now. I’ll need to be strong post surgery in December and staying active during this time in between is the best thing that I can do to feel good physically and mentally. Yesterday I headed up to my exercise room and did Beginner Yoga with Adrienne . on […]

Dallas Visit

Tucker I went to Dallas on Thursday to visit Tucker. Well, and Tess and Manuel too. I miss that silly dog a lot more than I thought that I would! Tess picked me up from the airport when she got off work and we headed to her apartment. I was really looking forward to seeing Tucker, and knowing that he hadn’t been feeling well, I really just wanted to give him a big hug. He was excited when we opened the door, but really just excited to get to go outside. Once we started walking down the hall, he turned around and looked at me and then did a double take. Then he walked a few steps and did it again. It was like he had just realize that it was ME! It was super cute. He did it outside too and I could see his mood perk up! He’d walk […]

Fall Fresh Air

Obviously my Daily Blog has turned into a…..Every Few Days I Blog….kinda thing. Last week in the Weight Watcher Meeting room we talked about Time Management. I’ve been trying to practice my own time management by spending less time on my computer and less time on my phone. I feel like I’m at a place right now in my life where the computer and the phone need to occupy less of my time. I really enjoyed spending time in the kitchen on Sunday with the windows open and I’ve worked at spending more time outside these last few days soaking up that fresh air and enjoying these 70 degree days. There is just something about that 70 degree temperature that heightens my mood. Always has. This weather also has me craving soups, stews and big bowls of comfort food. I made Meatloaf on Sunday, and while that was baking, I […]

Feeling the Football Love

Sunday morning coffee on the deck with a blanket, then breakfast, then a long walk that started off a tad chilly, but felt refreshing at the end. Perfect way to start off my Sunday. Groceries, then cooking while listening to the Chiefs game, (which was NOT a great game), made for a great Sunday afternoon. I received two text messages from friends at the game. Look how sweet. From my friend Kim.   From my friend Carly.   Even my grandson had me on his mind this past week while his team recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Look at that handsome kid!     His mom told me that he was thinking of me while he was playing. I love this…… I was feeling all sorts of love over the weekend. None of my food pictures are pretty today…… This was on the menu for Sunday. Breakfast – 12 SP […]

A Rainy Day, A Coffee Shop

It was rainy and cold on Tuesday, so I decided to soak up most of my afternoon in a cozy coffee shop. I had a morning appointment with my OBYN (I’m becoming all too familiar with sitting in a waiting room ready to see the doc) then I spent a few hours in a coffee shop, then to my afternoon appointment at the plastic surgery office, where we discuss my tissue expanders and any post-op questions. Spending the time in between appointments at the coffee shop was relaxing. I love this place. Tables and chairs to choose from, or big leather chairs to curl up in and little rooms with cozy chairs and lamps that make you want to kick off your shoes. I didn’t, but I though about it! They have all sorts of yummy items on the menu. I love black coffee and I love a Pour Over, […]

Fall Fever

Forgive my boring post. It lacks any humor what so ever and it is a short one. It just feels so darned good to be back tracking and blogging daily, even if I have nothing exciting to blog about it. Let me be honest. I feel like I had so much bad news to share there for a while, that having no bad news to share is a really kick ass day. I spent Sunday morning on the deck. I could have sat there for hours. We are having a variety of temps here in KC right now, but those cooler days are some of my favorites. I love all things Fall and it feels so good to be enjoying football games, chili, fire pits, boots and jeans. I had planned to grill out, but October has me wanting soup. I decided to come up with a low SmartPoint Soup, but it looked like […]

A Saturday Outside

It was a great Saturday! The temperature was right around 70, which is my favorite temp, so I did all that I could to be outside. Normalcy felt really good yesterday. I went on a walk and soaked up all of that fresh air! I walked just over 3 miles. That’s the first 3 mile walk that I’ve done since my surgery. I’ve discovered that standing and/or walking is actually the most comfortable position to be in! Go figure.    My walk gave me a huge burst of energy and I got all sorts of things done! Laundry, vacuuming, I finally changed the bed sheets, organizing for this week, trimming the lawn and I even made it to the car wash!   I knew I’d want dinner outside, so Mike and I started thinking about where we’d like to go for a date night.  We ended up on a patio where I enjoyed […]
