That Darned Dog!

Tucker We have had Tucker for over two years. I love this silly little dog like crazy. He just wants to play or cuddle. That’s it. He doesn’t growl. He doesn’t show his teeth like any kind of mad dog. He’s nice to his sister, Mishka. I swear, this dog smiles.   Both dogs, Tucker and Mishka, follow me all day long from room to room. Tucker has even convinced Mishka that picture taking can be fun! When we got Tucker, he was 1 1/2 years old, and from what I understand, had spent most of his life in a Kennel or crate because his previous owner traveled a lot. At first, I didn’t want him to just have free range of the house like Mishka did, so I tried the crate. He HATED the crate! He pee’d in it. He pooped in it. Every time I came home, there […]

Super Busy Sunday!

I dropped off Tess at the airport at 7:00 am on Sunday morning! I wish my car had Auto Pilot, because I’m certain my car knows the route by now! It was a short visit, but a great one, as always. I had a lot planned for the day. Mike usually works the few Sunday’s before and after vacation, so I keep busy with “To Do List”. I decided to treat myself to breakfast “out” before tackling my list. I bought a Sunday paper (I don’t know the last time I did THAT!) and headed to First Watch for breakfast. It was a great relaxing way to start out my busy Sunday. After breakfast, I met up with a friend of mine at the park for a nice “chilly” walk outside! The wind was fierce, but once we got our heart rates up, we could tolerate the cold. We walked […]

A Visit From Aunt Tess!

Aunt Tess came home Friday night from Dallas so she could meet her new niece, Charlotte!   We had the best day Saturday! We slept in, (which I know I shouldn’t need after a week’s vacation, but Tess and I stayed up super late chatting on Friday, so getting up at 10:00 am on Saturday, felt really good), then had coffee, then had lots of visitors! My mom came over. My dad came over. Then baby Charlotte and her brother and mother came over! My mom and dad had not yet met Charlotte, and Aunt Tess hadn’t either. So we spent time passing her around and chatting with her big brother, Alex, who so far, doesn’t seem to be jealous at all, just really proud! Charlotte’s mom, Kate, seemed ready for a little break. It was a great afternoon, and when Charlotte left, I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye. […]

Things I’m Thinkin’ and Feelin’

Things I’m Feeling Good About 1. After a 7 day buffet, I went to my Weight Watcher’s Meeting and actually stepped on the scale. (You can take a “No Weigh In Pass” if you want to.) 2. I did NOT let the number on the scale determine my mood for the day. I’m in a really good mood and I’d like to stay that way. 3. Sometimes….if I’ve have a bad week and I am expecting a gain, I’ll eat whatever I want on Thursday because I know I get a fresh start every Friday. I didn’t do that on Thursday. I got right back on plan the first day after vacation. 4. I EXERCISED Friday, and typically Friday is my scheduled “day off” of exercise, and I completely take advantage of that fact, but not this week! 5. I bought a bag of salad and actually ate out of […]

Right Back In the Game!

I have to admit, the first day back from vacation and spending most of the day at home, it was hard to not eat all day. Sometimes those days I spend at home getting stuff done around the house, I really struggle to not visit the pantry and fridge in between each thing I’m trying to get done. I promised myself that when I got up Thursday morning, that I would be diligent about counting points and keeping within my points range. I know when I go to my Weight Watchers meeting this morning, that my weight is going to be in the 160’s. I’d like to be one of those people that goes on vacation expecting to maintain my weight, but I’m not, and I know this. I know that when I go on vacation to an all inclusive resort for one full week, I am going to enjoy […]

Cancun 2014!

Geezzzz, where to even start. Who doesn’t love a vacation? We do! We do!!  You just can’t beat a beach vacation in the middle of winter! The Cancun airport is AWESOME! There’s a bar RIGHT outside of the airport doors!! HOLLLA!! Beer’s in hand, waiting for the shuttle, let the vacation begin!!   We’ve gone on several trips with this group of friends, and we are blessed to have such a great and laid back group of friends to travel with! We’re already talking about our next adventures. Once we got checked in……the food and drinks were everywhere!   Here is our first view of the beach from our room on the 12th Floor of the HardRock! I loved this view!   I had coffee on the balcony in the mornings and watched the sunrise, and I ended the evenings looking at the moon shining on the ocean.   I […]

We’re Going On Vacation!!!!

We are lucky to have a great group of friends that we have been vacationing with for the last few years. We’ve been to Mexico a couple of times with this group of friends, we’ve been to Memphis and Nashville with this group, we’ve been to the lake, and last year, we all took a trip to the Dominican Republic, and stayed at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino! We had an awesome vacation, but we also had a little unfortunate situation that led to us getting our money back AND…..getting a Free Vacation this year!!! You can read all about last year’s vacation HERE! All I can think about now is doing this again……     and maybe a little of this….   Vacation is a great time to enjoy some peace, not think about the stresses at home, and just relax. But I know on vacation, when I’m […]

100 Random Things About Me

I couldn’t sleep last night. I’m certain I was thinking about what I had and HAD NOT packed??? I got out of bed and spent some time reading some of my favorite blogs. I recently discovered Roni. She is quite the inspiration. Her blog has a LOT of information and last night I spent a little more time looking around her blog to see what all she had to say. Click HERE to check it our for yourself! One of things I found on her blog that I liked, was “100 Random Things About Me”. I’ve done the “25 Random Things About Me” before, but 100 seemed like a challenge, and she challenged her readers to do it. I was wide awake……so…… It seemed like a light hearted way to start my vacation.   1. I think about my weight everyday, and have as long as I can remember. 2. […]

Sunday Chores and Pancakes!

It was a fairly typical Sunday for me. Nothing exciting. Sleeping in, house cleaning, breakfast……and OH YEAH!! Packing to go to Cancun in TWO days!!!! I think I’m ready! After packing, I had a few more things on my “to do list”, one of which included exercise. I was struggling to get on the treadmill yesterday afternoon. I finally got ON the treadmill. Then I messed with my phone while literally standing on the belt. I finally turned ON the treadmill and walked at a pace of 2.0 mph while playing on my phone…..for almost 20 minutes!! Then I started my 5K training app. I watched the Olympics while I did my treadmill workout. Watching all of those incredible athletes with ridiculous endurance was quite a motivator for my workout. I stayed on the treadmill an additional 20 minutes and it ended up being a great workout! What motivates you […]

A Quiet Saturday….

Typically, a couple of weeks before we leave on vacation, (yes, I know this is ridiculous) I have planned out my packing. I have outfits organized and a few list made up of last minute things that I need to buy, and do. I had NOT done any of that until yesterday. Kate ended up having friends take her home that had planned on spending time with her at her house yesterday anyway, so I had the day to get a few things done. I planned outfits, took pictures of my planned outfits (I think this is genius and really don’t understand why everyone doesn’t do this), and made nice little stacks of clothes on my bathroom floor. Planning my outfits, eliminates taking a lot of clothes that I won’t wear! Today is all about errands and likely a ‘list” overload, but I’ll feel organized. 🙂   Breakfast 1 Egg, […]
