You CAN’T, or You CHOOSE Not To?

I have to elaborate a bit on yesterdays post regarding my 12 Week Commitment to pass on the alcohol. I forgot to mention in yesterdays post an important part of my meeting with my coach on Sunday morning. She’s really good at seeing things in a different light. I do know that I can lose weight slowly and still enjoy the occasional beverage, but from journaling (blogging) and having a coach, I have really learned a lot about my own habits, good and bad, and I am also aware of the things that tempt me. One night of two harmless drinks for me, seems to lead to another night of three or four drinks and then a couple of slices of pizza, then regret about my S L O W weight loss. I just want to get to the end. I think it’s like with anything that we are told […]

I have a Real Mouthful Today…….

I met with my coach on Sunday morning to go over some details of how I can keep losing weight and reach my goal by August 30th. I knew the answer. I had thought about it, but I hadn’t yet really talked about it, or completely accepted the fact that it was really the answer. I had done it before, but not for this long of a period. It’s a big commitment. It’s a HUGE commitment. It’s longer than LENT!!!! After discussing things with my coach, and deciding to make the commitment, I told her I didn’t think I wanted to blog about it, but I wasn’t sure why, because I blog about everything, screw ups and all. She said that one of the reasons for me not wanting to blog about my 12 week commitment could be…….I am afraid that if I screw up, everyone that reads my blog […]

Bark N’ Blues

The Destination for Saturday? First? Breakfast…… ….then Tucker and I prepared to head out to the Second Annual“Bark N’ Blues” Festival for the afternoon with my dad. “Bark N’ Blues” is an event in a neighborhood park in Prairie Village, Kansas, organized to help unwanted pets and financially support area animal rescue organizations. We headed out to participate in some of the fun, play with other dogs, and listen to some good music! (Mishka would not be attending.) Look! A Doggie Food Truck! The owner said he is the only one in K.C. and I believe he said there only three Doggie Food Trucks in the nation!! Super Cute! And apparently tasty too! Tucker gobbled up his treat and I bought treats to take home to Mishka. She was pleased as well. Complimentary Water!! Tucker even made their Facebook Page with this photo!! Check out their Facebook Page, HERE Tucker […]

First Friday…..of Twelve

This is day one of my Twelve Weeks to Goal! 14 pounds to go! I had a super busy and accomplished Friday starting with….. Weight Watchers meeting, followed by a trip to Starbucks for some Oatmeal and blogging time, followed with a visit to the Physical Therapist, then grocery shopping, and THEN…..my first attempt at mowing since surgery. Success. After that, I finally decided to get started painting my grandma’s vintage sewing machine. I bought the paint months and months ago, and after spending lots of time sanding and debating what colors to paint it, I simply never got started painting…….until now. I’ll work more on it this afternoon. Now it needs some sanding for that nice distressed look. This is a learning process, so I really have no idea what to expect. This is a picture of the same machine that someone else did, using different colors….. So cute!!!! Today […]

Charts, Graphs, Facts……..

So, Nashville and Memorial Weekend at the lake caught up with me, and again I complain about the same thing, over and over and over again. And honestly, one of my GREATEST pet peeves is someone who complains over and over again about the same thing, and then doesn’t make the necessary changes to fix the problem. Drives me CRAZY!!! So here I am, doing EXACTLY what drives me crazy in other people. Today’s weight……164.0. When I brought in Roberta, my “coach” and “sponsor”, we made charts. I had 26 weeks to lose 23 pounds. I now have 12 weeks to lose 14 pounds, so I have lost weight, but not as rapidly as I need to in order to make my time line. Roberta had initially suggested, that in order to reach my goal, I should schedule only two times a month that I allow myself to drink “adult” […]

Nashville!

I haven’t posted a blog for almost a full week!! I decided not to blog while on this trip, and I just focused on relaxing and having a good long weekend with Mike and our friends. Um……we had a BLAST! As usual, lots of clowning around. We saw “Silver Man” every day!!! I wonder what his skin must look like after putting that silver paint on it daily??? Eeekkkkkkk. We did a little sight seeing…….. And then a little more………. We saw Elvis!! (Not the real one, just to be clear.) Laura and Lissa bought matching boots!!! Um…… where there’s a sale, they’ll find it!! And as usual, vacation prop pictures!! The gang…… We didn’t miss a photo op, but I would really hate to bore you if I posted all 300 ridiculous pictures. Your welcome. We hadn’t been to Nashville before, but we are going back for certain! Too […]

A Nashville Weekend!

A long weekend at the Lake just wasn’t enough of a break from life, so we’re heading to Nashville! Actually this trip was planned about two weeks after coming home from the Dominican Republic in January. If you forgot how awesome that trip was, or if you missed that blog post, you might wanna get caught up on our travel adventures, and read all about it, HERE! As I recall, within just a few days time, we were in the process of filling out paperwork to collect insurance money for Mike’s wedding ring that was stolen while we were on vacation, and we were expecting Tess home from Dallas so we could purchase a car for her since she had been T-Boned and her car had been totaled, and I was debating rescheduling my surgery that was three days away, when my friend Laura called, then whispered into the phone…… […]

Memorial Day Weekend!!

First and most importantly….. A big “Thank You” to all of the service men and women who have served, and are currently serving in the United States Military. Your Service is greatly appreciated! Here is how Mike and I spent our weekend……. Swimsuits, boating and a whole bunch of fun, sweet people!!!! This is our gracious and awesome host, Doug, along with his sweet and crazy friend, Valerie…….and Mike and I! When we arrived, we walked out to the dock to say “hi”. Doug greeted us with a big hug and a …….. “Hey there Farmer and Farmerette!” I like it. I also think he can never remember my name when he first sees me. Cracks me up! Here is the back view of Doug’s house as we came back from a day on the water……. There were a mere seven dogs hanging out with us this weekend. Doug has […]

8 Marathons!!!!

Okay, I walked them. And it took me several days, (okay, months) but I’m super impressed with myself for walking all of those miles!!! 209.6 would be FOUR Marathons, and I completed 211 miles!! It was my goal to walk 200 miles by the end of May, so I completed that goal ahead of schedule!! Time for a new exercise chart with new exercise goals. I need to figure that out! So, I worked hard this week, and actually gained a pound! A little puzzled as to why, but know for certain that I have told myself that Trail Mix is a trigger food for me, and I simply shouldn’t buy it. This particular mix that I bought this week was all raw nuts and dried cranberries, no chocolate candies OR peanut butter chips. I guess there was just enough sweet in it to get to me. I can’t believe […]

Spring Cleaning!!

My Wednesday started off with and awesome 6.7 mile walk outside! It was GORGEOUS outside. I felt like it was the first day in a long time that I had absolutely no place I HAD to be, and all I could think about was opening all the windows and giving my house a LONG overdue, good Spring Cleaning! So, I did just that!! After doing some household paperwork and mail sorting and organizing, I went to work on the house. By 7:30 pm, my house was clean, from top to bottom. It felt sooooo good. I can definitely feel the progress in my shoulder because things (like house cleaning) are beginning to be less difficult to do. Mike was golfing, so I knew I had all day and most of the evening to get everything done, and it was so gorgeous outside, all I could think about was ending the […]
