In my spare time on Thursday…….

……I read a little info on what to expect after Rotator Cuff Repair Surgery. Let me start with why I had so much spare time. The dogs went to the groomer and I felt as though my children were at Mothers Day Out! And I LOVED it! But…..then the carpet cleaners came. I think I might be experiencing some nesting for post-op. The furnace guy also came, so I posted this on Facebook. I was in need of a little entertainment. “So, the furnace guy is here….again. If I go missing, his name is Mark. I saw on a TV special that you should let someone know when you’re home alone with a service guy. I thought I’d just tell everyone.” The comments that followed kept me entertained a while longer. Then I tweeted it. I was really bored. Then, everything was fixed and/or clean, so I picked up my […]

Cooking….Cleaning…..Cooking.

I unexpectedly had the day off, so I took advantage of it and got busy. With my surgery just a little over a week away, and me feeling the need to get as many things prepared as possible, I went to work in the kitchen. And you know I have a gazillion list lined up on the kitchen counter top of things “to do”. I now have prepared and placed in the freezer, cooked ground turkey and onions, you know…….for chili or spaghetti or sloppy joes, or whatever sounds good one day with cooked ground turkey! Shredded BBQ pork, shredded Crockpot Salsa Chicken, a dozen cooked turkey Burgers, and some browned Italian Sweet Chicken Sausage. I feel like the freezer is now prepared. It’s not like Mike can’t pick us up dinner on the way home from work too, I just wanted to be able to prepare a few things […]

A Much Better Day……

This is my day Saturday……I seem to be having a hard time catching up my blog since vacation!! Breakfast in bed. It’s NOT just for vacation. 🙂 English Muffin topped with egg beaters, turkey sausage and cheese. A little ketchup for dipping. 7 PPV Then the mutts and I headed out for a much needed walk. We took the hilly grassy route. I zigged and I zagged up and down all the hills trying to make the most of my eagerness to get some exercise in today. When the dogs had had enough, we came home. I dropped them off and headed back out. The cool fresh air surprisingly felt good, and I figured since I was in the mood, I might as well continue. The amount of goose poop I encountered on the neighborhood path made for a nice obstacle course and improved my lower body workout. I had […]

And the Weight Watcher Week Begins……

….with no exercise and no meeting. I know. I spent Friday morning at home waiting for the furnace guy to come to replace the motor that went out while we were on vacation. I didn’t even include that in my “Vacation” blog, assuming no one would believe it anyway. Thank goodness we had house sitters, or we could have really come home to a gigantic mess!! Before the furnace incident, I had planned to attend my WW meeting, but I wasn’t going to weigh in. I thought I would give myself a week to shed any vacation weight and water retention!! I’m no fool. 🙂 Well, maybe I am. Just a little. My Friday was anything but exciting. Mostly bills, sorting mail, laundry, waiting for the furnace guy and filling out pre-op paper work for my surgery. I did get to play catch up with a girl friend over coffee […]

MRI results……

So I sat waiting…..staring at that computer……… ………knowing the results were in there somewhere. Then Dr. Gurley entered the room. This is what he said. “We’ll, I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is….I found the problem. The bad news is….I found the problem.” I like this guy. I am having surgery on February 8th to repair my torn Rotator Cuff. He was completely honest and told me that one week after surgery, I will regret having surgery. Two weeks after surgery, I will regret even more that I had the surgery. Three to Four weeks after surgery, I will begin to feel better. Three months after surgery, I should be able to return to Boot Camp with limited weights, and work my way to a full recovery! Yay! I only wish I would have pursued this many months ago. Before my afternoon appointment, I […]

Okay……Weight Watchers? I really need you.

Vacation is over. My little sausage toes are happy I am done with liquor and bacon for breakfast, followed by beer and nacho’s for lunch, followed by whatever was set in front of me for dinner. These little toes have been carrying a lot of weight and they would like for me to lighten the load a bit. I enjoyed vacationing this close to the first of the year and had planned on spending lots of vacation time reflecting and coming up with resolutions. Due to some of the events that took place, just being alive and together dominated any resolutions or reflections and instead included lots of relaxing and playing and a lot of celebrating! Since the plane landed safely, and we are all alive and back to REAL life, the reflecting can begin, and the resolutions determined before vacation anyway, can now begin. It’s time to break through […]
