Saturday after Yoga and breakfast, I headed out to one of our grandson’s basketball games. While at the game, his sister asked me if she could come to my house after the game. Just the question alone warms my heart. This little girl wants to spend the afternoon with Gigi. I say yes, and after we all go out to lunch, (where she tells me I’m her best friend….today)…. ….her and I head to my house. Papa Mike goes back to the office to get caught up from being gone for a week. I wish I could have recorded the entire day because she just said so many things that I never want to forget. I felt like I was talking to an adult most of the day. This little girl. She is polite, she is sincere, she is funny, she is witty, she is sweet. First of all, it’s […]
Okay, Much Better
Things went so much better yesterday. Thanks for your comments, emails and text. What a nice group of readers (and friends)! I know that me being “real” is why a lot of you like to read the blog and why so many of you relate to the blog, and I can’t imagine writing it any other way. Every once in a while, I have a real crap food day, likely the result of a real crap day, as I’m sure many of you do too. But, it was just a day, and it’s over, and yesterday was much better! Yesterday was the first day that I have planned and tracked successfully in a few weeks, and it felt really good to be in control. I rarely eat breakfast before my WW meeting, and that remained true yesterday. I was up 5 pounds yesterday at my weigh in, which I expected […]
What Happened?
Before we went on vacation, I found myself tracking less and less, while still eating whole foods. Part of me was being lazy I suppose by not measuring and weighing my food and knowing exactly how many points I was eating. Part of me convinced myself that I was “safe” in the point department because I was eating whole foods. I was eating meats and veggies, fruits and nuts and eggs. That has pretty much been my diet since October, and I feel really good. I feel strong, I feel rested and I feel healthy. My last few WW meetings, I haven’t looked at my weight. Two reasons. One: I’ve started looking at the scale less and less because I am one of those people that can really let that number on the scale determine my mood, and I don’t want that to happen. Two: I didn’t want to go […]
Vacation Hangover?
This guy and I came home Sunday evening from a relaxing seven days in Mexico with four other couples. We spent an entire week playing, eating, drinking, relaxing….playing, eating, drinking, relaxing, and more eating and drinking, with a little more eating and drinking. You guys, we ate and drank a lot. The last three days have been S L O W moving for me. A couple of my girlfriends told me that I was experiencing Vacation Hangover. I think it’s an Urban Dictionary thing, but seriously, Mike and I have both had headaches since we came home. We truly did drink and eat whatever we wanted, and came home bloated and puffy, but rested and relaxed. After three days of being back to eating whole foods, we may be experiencing some sugar withdrawals, or….we just both have a cold. Either way, we’re calling it a Vacation Hangover. Besides, saying it makes me giggle. […]
Taking a Break
The hubs is taking a few days off of work, so I”m taking a short break from the blog and looking forward to spending some time together with him. I’ll be back to blogging again soon though. Here’s what went on yesterday in my Weight Watcher world. After my Weight Watcher meeting, I did a little grocery shopping, then ran a few errands. I was starving while I was at the grocery store since I skip breakfast on Friday’s, and I found all of these awesome roasted veggies along with a yummy kale salad on the salad bar. Yummmmm. Lunch was delish. We don’t always do the best job of remembering to not eat meat during Lent on Friday’s, but the first Friday, we usually do a pretty good job. I roasted up some Spaghetti Squash on Thursday, and had plenty left over, so I decided to make Shrimp Scampi and […]
Fingers and Toes
My heels are an inherited disaster, as are my toenails.Yesterday, I decided to get a manicure and a pedicure, something I rarely do. I get restless during a manicure, and I’m a big wuss when it comes to a pedicure. I’ve never really liked it. I wince and whine through pretty much the whole thing. The clipping, the digging, the filing, the hot towel, all of it. Wuss I say. I like the massage part, and that’s about it. During the massage part, I told her I’d pay extra for an another 5 minutes of massaging. She did it too! So I like that part. Well, and the end result always looks and feels nice. I’m glad I went. I even got a little heart. Lea did my toes while Maria did my hands. I’m going back in two weeks. Check out the potato I used for part of my breakfast yesterday morning! […]
Dog Gone It
For way more time than I would like to admit, this is what I did on Tuesday. He walked on the piled up pillows beside me and put his head on my shoulder. He’s such a lover. Then he got his head and his body just as close to me as he could. His paw felt like a hug. Then he settled in, and I let him, almost forever. We also spent a little time playing with app’s on my phone. I’m sure I accomplished something else on Tuesday, but I can’t remember what. Oh, wait! I did find a great 10 minute Leg Workout Video on YouTube. It was 10 minutes straight of squats and jumping jacks. My legs were burning at the end, so I’ll guess that I did it right. The guy kept saying, “You should really feel the burn now.” I’m like….Yep, feeing it! […]
Make It a Great Day
Yesterday, I tracked my food, counted points, drank over 100 ounces of water and made it to Jazzercise, alll the things that make it a great day for me. What is it that makes it a great day for you? Here are yesterday’s eats… Breakfast – 4 SP 4 Scrambled Egg Whites, Avocado, Banana and Kiwi slices with 1 tsp of Sunbutter. Black Coffee. Lunch – 8 SP Leftover Buffalo Chicken Spaghetti Squash Casserole with lots of crunchy veggies. I remembered I had some romaine lettuce in the fridge, so I had a couple of lettuce wraps. I loved the crunch! Snack – 8 SP I’m keeping these in my car, in my trunk, in a bag. It keeps me from grabbing one just because I see them. Now I really think about whether it’s worth it or not. I enjoyed this with a big cup […]
Just Food Today…..
Yesterday I ate some yummy food, drank over 100 ounces of water, and had a good time watching the Super Bowl with friends. I had a couple of glasses of wine during the game. I did not count points yesterday. I’m not sure what’s going on with me right now and my not tracking, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. I think I know I’m staying within my points for the day (except for the wine), so I just haven’t been keeping track? Not sure. Anyhow, feel good, but lacking in activity for the week, so I’m out the door to Jazzercise. Have a great evening! Here are yesterday’s eats…. Breakfast My favorite. Red Onions, Zucchini, Sweet Potato, 1 Slice of Bacon, crumbled, topped with two Eggs and Avocado. I love to stir it all up with that creamy yolk. Breakfast is most definitely my favorite meal of […]
Super Bowl, Friends and Fun
We are going on vacation really soon, and I gotta tell ya, I’m in vacation, relaxation, party mode. This is a really poor excuse of a Weight Watcher Member Blog Post. I didn’t eat terrible the last two days, but I drank too much wine on Friday, skipped dinner totally on Friday, didn’t exercise the last two days, and I haven’t tracked my points. Today we are going to a Super Bowl Party, and I’m making healthy snacks, but I plan to have beer with my healthy snacks. I went to my WW meeting Friday morning, had a great meeting, enjoyed seeing everyone, left feeling healthy and ready for my vacation. I met a friend for lunch and had a Salmon Caesar Salad. I used about 1 tsp of dressing and scraped the cheese to the side. My day was starting off great! Later in the afternoon, I made […]
