January Challenge, Day 15

One of the awesome benefits of my daughter working at Southwest Airlines, is not only does she get to fly for free, but so do mom and dad! One of the requirements for flying free is flying stand by. Part of flying stand by is being patient if you don’t get on the flight you were hoping to get on. So far, I’ve been super lucky and whether traveling alone, or traveling with Mike, we’ve made it onto every flight we’ve been on stand by for. Yesterday, Tess and I decided I should try to come out to Dallas a little earlier than we had originally planned, and then I didn’t end up making it onto that flight. So, I hung out at the airport for the next three hours. I was very content. I read my book, I pinned a few things on Pinterest. I enjoyed a little people watching, and when my stomach began to growl, I ate the apple that I had brought. Then after two hours, I caved on my no dairy and bought a tall (I bought the smallest size!) nonfat latte! I’m not doing dairy this month as a part of my January Challenge, and I’m surprisingly not missing cheese at all, but I am missing my lattes and my morning frothy coffee’s. I like the almond milk for my smoothies, but I’m just not a fan of it in my coffee. I only had about half of the latte that I ordered, but it was truly delicious!

I made the next flight, and by the time I landed in Dallas, it was 3:00 pm and I was starving! I had breakfast at 5:30 am, and a few pieces of fruit at the airport. You guys, I was practically malnourished. We finally made it out to dinner at 5:00. Tess and I have gone to the same place for dinner on my arrival day since she moved here. Yesterday was no different. It’s called Fireside and it’s the cutest little pizza place where typically we share an entree and a salad and sip on wine. I love the atmosphere in that place and it’s the perfect little spot to start our weekend and get caught up. Yesterday, I ordered a salad, and I had water (lots of water) and coffee. Dinner was awesome, and although it would have been nice to have a drink with her, it wasn’t that big of a deal.

After dinner, we came back to her apartment, where slowly friends started to gather. She has a great group of fiends that she has met through work, and each time I witness them all together in the apartment, I feel like I’m right smack in the middle of a Friends episode. It’s a mix of male and female, and the conversations that they have crack me up! It was a great night!

We’ve got lots planned for the day. Tess is so supportive of whatever it is that I have going on, I really couldn’t be luckier, and I’m so thankful! We are headed out in just a bit to go to a Weight Watcher’s meeting, and then to the gym! After that we are grocery shopping, then the Friends are coming over tonight and we are cooking dinner for the gang!

It’s going to be a great day!

Lunch

Un-pictured Apple, 2 Banana’s, Starbuck’s Tall Nonfat Latte

I had THREE banana’s yesterday! I was going to pack lots of point friendly snacks to take to the airport, and I completely forgot, so I went with the fruit that I could find while at the airport.

3 PPV

Dinner

Salad with Grilled Chicken, Almonds, Apples, Pears

15 PPV

I ordered the dressing on the side. This salad was one of their “Specials” for the night, and it was really really good. I should have ordered vinegar and oil for my dressing (because I do like vinegar and oil). I didn’t think about the “sugar” in the vinaigrette until I was eating it, but I had very little dressing, and this is only the second dinner that I have had “out” since the first of January!
