Francis the Piano

The Piano man made it here yesterday to tune Francis.

This poor guy. I asked all sorts of questions. He was so nice to answer all of them. He and his dad have had a piano business for years. His dad is now retired, but when we had this piano moved here in 2007 from my dads house, this man and his dad moved it and tuned it for us. My dad had kept their business card all this time. Not a surprise.

I learned a lot about the piano from Piano Man, then shared the story with him of how it came to our family. According to my dad, it was gifted to my grandma from a women that she worked for sometime in the early 40’s.

Piano Man said he tuned it the best that he could and did share that these old pianos never really can get tuned to where they need to be due to age. With the serial number, he was able to look up the info on Francis.

She was built in 1906! Isn’t that crazy? I mean that she’s made it as long as she has? I think so.

Apparently the warranty expired 101 years ago.

Tess and I decided this family piece (that is worth $0), needed a name. My grandmas name was Francis. I have fond memories of sitting on that piano bench while my grandma played the piano. She passed when I was 11, so although Tess never met her, she loves the thought of owning something one day that my grandma enjoyed so much. For a split second several weeks ago, I considered getting rid of the piano, but somehow she’s become more important then ever to me.

Will I ever learn to play her? Maybe. Now that I’ve named her, I feel like I need to get to know her better.

My Gift to Myself yesterday?

The gift of sweet memories with my grandma sitting at this piano, Francis.

Mike and I put the area rug down (It’s 12’x15′) in the living room last night and I must say, after 25 years together, that was the least fun thing we have EVER done together. lol

But…….I LLLLLOVE THE RUG!!

I’ll share some pics after I get the fireplace looking like I want it to look.

Activity

I walked 3 miles outside then did a 20 minute lower body workout. Feeling great about these workouts!!

Breakfast

Coffee with Almond Milk

Lunch

Eggs, tomatoes, avocado and a pear sprinkled with cinnamon

Dinner

It was a frozen pizza kinda Friday night and a Costa bagged salad. And because pizza and beer go together like pb&j, here’s another Non-Alcoholic beer I’ve found that I really like!

Tess and Manuel are on the road and will be here before dinner! It’s going to be a great week!

Happy Saturday you beautiful people. Have a happy and healthy weekend!
