Shopping Day at Mom’s House

I went to visit my mom for a little while yesterday afternoon, and she noticed I was wearing a bracelet that she had given me years ago. It originally belonged to my Great Aunt, who passed away many years ago. She was one of those ladies that you would describe as a “real character” and I adored her. I remember always looking at the bracelet and playing with it when my aunt wore it. It’s a charm bracelet, and every charm has a great story. I wear it when I’m feeling a little ornery.

The bracelet reminded my mom of some more jewelry that she was ready to pass down. I’m the only daughter. 🙂 My grandma (who passed a few years ago, and was also a real hoot!) and my Great Aunt (they lived next door to each other!) had a lot of great jewelry and I always remember as a kid looking at all of it. I am so grateful that my mom has taken such good care of it and remembers so much about each piece!

Yesterday, mom gave me the turquoise bracelet. I love it!

I liked it better with the other bracelets that I was wearing…..

My mom also gave me this necklace that belonged to my grandma. It’s silver with gold diagonal stripes. I love it too!

I have a lot of things in my home that belonged to both of my grandma’s and my aunt. My mom then pulls out this hand mirror and lint brush that belonged to my Great Grandma and asked me if I would like them.

Yes!!! I love this kind of stuff, and when it comes from your own family, its even better! The hand mirror weighs a ton!

It was a really fun day unexpectedly shopping for free at mom’s house!

I also did a little swim suit shopping, um…not at mom’s. It was a reality check that I needed. I looked at it as an opportunity to make a goal for myself, which I haven’t done in a while. My Weight Watcher week begins on Friday, AND….its the first of the month. What a great day to set a goal.

I WILL weigh 169 (or less) by the end of May! It’s now been months since I have been in the 160’s, and with swimsuit and short season so close, I know I need this.

Here are yesterday’s eats……

Breakfast

Egg, Toast, Grapes

Black Coffee

  1. Hi Pam! Sorry for the late reply. Blogging issues on my site. Urg!

I LOVE old jewelry, especially when it comes from your own family! You would be amazed at the comments you will get when wearing it! Throw on a piece with a t-shirt and jeans, and the jewelry really stands out!

    Hope you are well!

    🙂

  2. Oh my goodness…this jewelry is beautiful! I love this kind of stuff, too…I have some things from my grandmamas and two aunts that are so special to me. I love that you are wearing the jewelry. Good luck with your May goal. — Pam
