Early St. Paddy’s Day!

Would you believe in all of my excitement about heading to Westport to do the 4 Mile St. Patrick’s Day Run/Walk, I forgot my phone??

Which means I have absolutely no pictures of the 3,000 crazies that ran along with me, and I had only my BREATHING to listen to while running!! Okay, there were a lot of fun things to look at while I was running, and I was always surrounded by people having funny conversations, but I think listening to music, which is what I had planned to do, would have helped me keep my mind off of my breathing. Ah well. I did it! There were a TON of hills. I almost checked out the route on Friday when I went to pick up my packet, but I think it’s best that I didn’t! Knowing those hills were in there would have sent me into panic mode for certain!!

I finished 4 miles (running and walking) in just under 50 minutes, which is not awesome at all, but it means I averaged a 12 minute mile, which is around 5 mph, and that is the speed that I have been running at on the treadmill while doing my 5K training, so to know that I finished in that time, actually feels like my training must be doing some good!! Doing this race just came up in the last 2 days, so I had no idea I was even doing it, but I’m so glad that I got to!

After the race, we went inside Kelly’s for a celebratory beer, along with many others! Then we headed to lunch at an Irish Pub by my house (and I got my phone!). The weather was absolutely gorgeous and perfect outside yesterday. I’m not sure what the high was, but 70 something. We sat on the patio and had a Bloody Mary. First we snapped our one and only photo with our race numbers on!

Then we took full advantage of the St. Paddy’s Day patio fun!

I’m not even Irish!!

After lunch, Rebecca and I headed to a great little Tavern to meet the husbands and a group of friends that we are taking a trip with at the end of April. The Tavern was celebrating their One Year Anniversary. A husband and wife bought this old house and turned it into a little bar, and Mike and I hadn’t had a chance to check it out yet. It was tiny and full of people. Those of us that didn’t quite fit inside, sat outside in the back where they cooked up complimentary burgers and hot dogs! It was an awesome day! We did end the night dancing along with the DJ inside!!

We had such a beautiful day here in Kansas City yesterday. Would you believe when i let the dogs out early this morning…..I saw this! Now it’s in the 30’s!
