Spring! I admit that Fall is my favorite Season, but this year, I am more excited than EVER for Spring!! I want to walk outside for miles!! I want to take long car rides with the windows down. That puts me in the BEST mood! At home, I like to open all of the windows and crank up the stereo. I zone out the rest of the world, and only me and the music and the fresh air exist. All is good. I took Tucker to the Dog Park yesterday afternoon. He was so ready for some good play time! I swear he cracks me up! He’s just like a little kid, lost in the fun. He literally runs from one person to another, then from one dog to another, then back to the people, saying “hello” to as many as he possibly can. I just watch him and smile […]

Running!
Well, I’m moving right along on the 5K training. Yesterday involved a 5 minute warm up, followed by a 10 minute run, 3 minute walk, 10 minute run, 5 minute cool down. I did it all, and I did it all outside! Yay!! Today is a 22 minute run…..WITHOUT STOPPING!! Yeah, I mean I guess that’s the whole idea, huh? Tess did it Tuesday (she is a few day’s ahead of me), so I gotta do it!! We’re just a few weeks away from running the actual Color Run on April 12th in Dallas!! After completing the 5K part of my exercise, I walked another 40 minutes! It was beautiful outside! I’m ready for the 70’s today and Spring!! ARE YOU??? Here are yesterday’s eats……The pumpkin choices are a complete coincidence! Breakfast Pumpkin Spice Coffee with Frothy Skim Milk sprinkled with Pumpkin Pie Spice Scrambled Egg Whites with […]
“To Do’s” and Taco Soup!
1. Make lunch for the week 2. Clean House 3. Take Mike’s car to the shop…..again…… 4. Exercise!!! I made Taco Soup for lunches…..and the day’s dinner. I cleaned a little house. I did take Mike’s car in, and I’ll need to pick it up today. I worked my butt of on that treadmill!! I decided to make the Taco Soup for a few reasons. It’s easy. It’s delicious! One Cup = 5 PointsPlus. It freezes well. Mike loves it. I had all of the ingredients. It’s one of those soup recipes that it really doesn’t need to be cold out for it to sound good, in my opinion. And I am hoping that Spring is on it’s way and that the cold will be leaving us, and soon! Here are the day’s eats….. Breakfast Banana, Coffee with Skim Milk Lunch Egg White Omelette with 1/4 C. Turkey Sausage, […]
All Things Green
First of all, this is the most St. Patrick’s Day celebrating I’ve done in my entire life! It all started with the St. Patrick’s 4 Mile Run on Saturday, followed by an email from an Aunt of mine informing me that we actually do have a little bit of Irish blood in the family on my dad’s side!! After discovering that, I will now feel the need to celebrate St. Patricks Day from here on out by going to Irish Pub’s, inviting family over for Corned Beef and Cabbage, wearing all things green, and participating in the various St. Paddy’s Day events throughout the city! I’m Irish!! (just a wee bit) I’m Julie O’Farmer! Okay…Man oh man, I had the munchies all day long and had a hard time controlling myself! I bought some Hummus Chips the other day, and I discovered that they were better than I expected them […]
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I just found out yesterday that I actually am just a wee bit Irish!! At 47 years old, I am JUST finding this out!! Now I feel the need to celebrate all day long! If I’m Irish, so are THEY! He is OVER it already….. I’ll start off my day with some Green Eggs and Ham (Do Irish people do that? Probably not. I’m thinking GREEN, people!) I also now feel the need to make a traditional meal of Corned Beef and Cabbage! I got busy looking up recipes last night, and I’ve decided to make The Pioneer Woman’s Corned Beef and Cabbage! Are YOU making corned beef and cabbage?? I completely took advantage of having nothing I had to do yesterday and stayed in bed ALL morning long. It was so nice and relaxing, I stayed there for most of the afternoon […]
Early St. Paddy’s Day!
Would you believe in all of my excitement about heading to Westport to do the 4 Mile St. Patrick’s Day Run/Walk, I forgot my phone?? Which means I have absolutely no pictures of the 3,000 crazies that ran along with me, and I had only my BREATHING to listen to while running!! Okay, there were a lot of fun things to look at while I was running, and I was always surrounded by people having funny conversations, but I think listening to music, which is what I had planned to do, would have helped me keep my mind off of my breathing. Ah well. I did it! There were a TON of hills. I almost checked out the route on Friday when I went to pick up my packet, but I think it’s best that I didn’t! Knowing those hills were in there would have sent me into panic mode […]
Feel Good Friday!
Well, I started off my Friday like never before. First thing in the morning, I ran on the treadmill for 20 minutes without stopping!! What??? I know. Me. Julie. Exercise Procrastinator Professional Extraordinaire. I was lying in bed, thinking about my day. I thought…..hmmmm, if you just get out of bed and get dressed right this second, you would have time to do that 5K training thing BEFORE you go to your WW meeting. Then I thought….nah, that’s just silly. You’ve got all day to do that. Then I thought, Just Do It! You’ll feel great about yourself. It will be done for the day. You’ll start off your WW Week by earning activity points!! So something inside me said all those positive things were a really good idea and I got out of bed and did it! Did you get the part about 20 minutes?? Well, if you missed […]
Much Better Day!!
It was a much better day on Thursday. I was focused and in control. I spent five hours at a Starbuck’s waiting for Mike’s car to get out of the shop. I blogged. I thought. I drank a Latte. I blogged. I thought some more. I drank some water. I blogged. I thought. I drank coffee, black. Then I got lunch. Geeeezzzzzz. It was a looooonnnnnggggg morning. But I never ordered anything that I didn’t need….scone, donut, cake pop……nothing. At 12:30 I was starving, and had no idea I would be there so long. I looked up the PPV for some of their sandwiches, and discovered the Spinach Feta Egg White Wrap was only 7 PPV, so I ordered that and drank more water. 🙂 When i got home, I did my 5K training. The instructions for the day were to walk 5 minutes, run 8 minutes, walk 5 minutes, […]
Well, fudge……
Actually, there is no fudge in today’s post…….it’s just a better “F” word. Some days it’s hard to get to this little place I call “My Blog”. Yet, if I don’t make it, my day simply isn’t complete. Yesterday, my day was not complete. Last week, I Kicked Ass in the “It’s Just About Healthy Livin” department. This week, not so much. It may have quite possibly started with the unplanned “Pub Crawl” on Saturday, that I take full and complete responsibility for. I believe it all started with a text I sent to my friends. Tuesday and Wednesday, I just plain sucked. Ironically, I titled my blog post Tuesday morning “Today…Make Healthy Choices”. Tuesday and Wednesday, I struggled with my afternoon “challenge time” between the hours of 3:00 and 6:00 pm. I was wigged out about a few things and couldn’t stay out of […]
