It was a great long weekend with lots of relaxing, lots of playtime, and lots of people!
My lake weekend began with a four hour drive south to the beautiful Table Rock Lake……
……..which is the clearest and cleanest lake that I have ever been to! I should have taken a picture of my feet dipped into the water so you could see how clear it was!
Thursday
I’m not a super fan of night time driving, and the drive to the lake ended in the dark, on your typical winding lake road, IN THE RAIN!! I was 10 and 2 on the steering wheel, leaning forward just as far as I could (seriously, how does this help??) and gripping that steering wheel just as tight as I could! I was following friends since I wasn’t sure where I was going, and with a good 15 minutes to go, I had to pee really bad. Let’s just say that when we finally pulled into the driveway, it was the happiest that I had been, in a really long time!
It was after 10:00 pm when we got to the lake, and after unloading and organizing just a bit, we all took a spot on the deck and enjoyed a few good hours of chit chat. We went to bed at 3:30 am!!
Friday
After a few cups of coffee and a breakfast burrito, we spent Friday on the dock and in the lake, soaking up a few sun rays. Sitting in a life jacket in the lake makes the BEST chair ever!
Later in the afternoon we packed coolers (okay, I didn’t, but someone fabulous packed coolers with snacks and drinks) and took a boat ride to an area of the lake where you can hang out and watch foolish people jump from about a 50′ drop! The water here was about 150′ deep! The view really was gorgeous! I didn’t take my phone with me on this ride since I have a history of dropping my phone in water’s of all types. No need to add lake to my list.
After a day on the lake, we had a great dinner and spent the rest of the evening pretty relaxed and greeting those that were arriving Friday night.
There were six families invited to the lake house. I think I counted 11 family members in one family, then they ranged from five to four to two to me, Julie, family of one. Mike worked and Tess couldn’t get off work. The final count was somewhere just under 30! The adults and a few kids made it to the lake Thursday night, and the rest of the kids came down on Friday night. The “kids” range from 18 years old to 27 years old…I think. There was even one grand baby, and he was adorbs!!!!
Saturday
Saturday seemed like it was about three days long. I can’t believe how much we got in on Saturday! This morning started off with biscuits and gravy and “cooked to order” eggs! I hadn’t had biscuits and gravy in forever and it was heaven. After breakfast, I put on my sneakers and headed out to explore a bit. I love a walk on a road at a lake. Lot’s of great hills, lot’s of trees and unexpected beautiful views!
I got in a nice three mile hike, then headed back for a full day of fun.
Again, someone fabulous packed coolers with snacks and beverages and hauled them down to dock. We filled up two boats with coolers and people and headed out for some fun on the lake. Some crazy person convinced me to go tubing with her. So I did. I currently hurt from head to toe. The insides of my arms are bruised, I have a bruise on the bottom of one foot, every muscle in my butt hurts, and I can’t move my neck. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!! We were laughing so hard, it was almost impossible to talk. Somehow, she convinced three other people to do this with her too! I’m not sure which was more fun, riding myself, or watching the pain of the others riding! Unfortunately, a storm rolled in super fast, and the tubing had to come to an end as we headed back to the dock. I was just thinking I was ready to go again too!
The rest of the day was filled with food, (Have I mentioned the food??? Brownies, cookies, cakes, more cookies and cakes and brownies, chips, nuts, candy, salty snacks…..mac and cheese (so good cold at 2:00 am!!!) and cheesy potatoes, turkey, ham, chicken, steak, shrimp………we could have fed three times the amount of people that were there!!) and fun.
We played different types of charades, we played “name that tune while humming and playing the tambourine”, we played a terrible game called Card’s Against Humanity, then more charades, and I think more singing. There may have drinking games involved. I may have participated.
I’m not sure when bedtime came on Saturday. Later than it should have. 🙂
Sunday
Most of the gang, including myself, was heading home on Sunday, and a few were staying until Monday. At around 2:00 in the afternoon, I decided to pass on the boat ride, and go up to the house to take a nap. After thinking about how cranky I am when I nap, and how hard it is to fully wake up from a nap, I decided it would be in my best interest to load up on some caffeine and head home.
It was an awesome weekend and I’m so glad I got to go!!
Today…..water……water……..water.
I hope you all had a Fun Filled Weekend as well!!
