Weekend Update!

The last few days have been much busier than my usual day to day routine, and I had a hard time getting in a blog post. I’ve also not been the best WW member. I’ve had sandwich cravings for over a week now, and now I eventually succumbed to my cravings in some form or another on Wednesday, Thursday AND Friday! I’ve been drinking beer or wine more than I should be. I have not been tracking, however I have tried to be aware of what I was eating, and I have missed my last three WW meetings, due to things in my schedule that simply didn’t allow me to make it to a meeting!

On the other hand, my 100 Mile Walking Challenge is right on track, and I’ve been getting my water in. I still feel really good, I just feel a bit “Off” when I’m not tracking what I’m eating and drinking.

Thursday was a super exciting day! I became a Big Sis with the Big Brother Big Sister organization at the beginning of May. Samone is my little sis, and we are getting to know each other pretty well! I received this picture on Thursday of our recent Bowl for Kids Sake event! That was a great opportunity for Samone to meet my daughter, Tess, and to meet some of my girlfriends!

I received an email a few weeks ago, asking me if I would like to get together with Samone and do a photo shoot for Big Brother. They are doing a whole new marketing campaign, and they want actual Big’s and Little’s in their marketing materials. I thought it sounded like a great idea, and Samone did too! Our photo shoot was at my house on Thursday night! We had a great time doing a few things that we had done together as a Big and Little. Samone likes to be in the kitchen just as much as I do, and we have made a few things here at the house, so we decided to make guacamole together, and the photographer snapped about 300 pictures of us doing that, then eating it, then playing pool in the basement, and then hanging out in the hammock together in the back yard! My dinner consisted of Chips and Guacamole.

Later that night, (and I mean LATE) I was picking up Tess and a friend at the airport. They were going to sleep over, then fly out to Vegas the next morning for a Bachelorette party with 20 other girls.! As I write this post, I pray she makes it back to Dallas safe and sound today, and with her phone, and her wallet. I’m just trying to be real here. From her text that I received over the weekend, it’s obvious that she took in all that Vegas has to offer. Oh dear.

I went to bed at 12:30 Thursday night, and woke up at 4:00 am on Friday to take them back to the airport.

Friday morning, I didn’t go back to bed, and instead prepared for the day. I got in a 4 Mile walk, did a few chores, then left around 9:00 to go work downtown at the Food Truck. We have First Friday’s each month in Kansas City, and it all started in the Cross Roads District in an artsy part of town. You get to walk from gallery to gallery, taking in all of the art of the local artist, while enjoying beverages and snacks that they have put out for you while you enjoy, and hopefully purchase some art. It’s an awesome monthly event. It’s now grown into a large part of Kansas City. In addition to that, several shops have now gone into the old buildings in the West Bottoms part of the city, where they sell all sorts of great things, but think mostly, trendy, refinished furniture, antiqued items, and really, just all sorts of fun stuff. You couldn’t put a dent in the shops even if you spent the entire day down there. While you shop, there are now a LARGE number of Food Trucks that line the streets with an awesome variety of eats! The Beauty of Bistro, the truck that I work at, is there every First Friday! If you are local, and you’ve never been to First Friday’s in the West Bottoms, I HIGHLY recommend it!!

I got home at 4:00 in the afternoon, and all the way home I was thinking about a glass of white wine and a bubble bath. Instead, I invited a couple of neighbors over and we enjoyed some wine on the deck. I did eventually shower and was in bed and asleep by 8:00 pm!! Heaven.

Saturday, I got my walk in, showered, and went to the new IKEA store with a friend that had two passes. The store doesn’t open until Wednesday, so it was kinda fun to get to be able to go early and check it out! I had been to an IKEA store one other time, with Tess in Dallas, and I had forgotten just how cool this place is!

I got home just in time to freshen up a bit, then we met up with Tim and Rebecca, so we could celebrate Tim’s birthday! We went to an outdoor concert of a group called Deja Vu. They cover Pat Benetar, Fleetwood Mac, Jim Morrison and U2. Concerts always make for really good people watching!!! I saw every age and every hair style!! I was feeling a little crazy!

Below is a little collage of the last few days of eats!

The Panera Flatout Mediterranean wrap was gross. I took the humus and tzatziki sauce off, neither of those tasted good at all, and ate the rest. It was a part of the sandwich craving thing I had going on.  The rest of the days eats included guacamole and chips at the photo shoot!

Friday

At 6:00 am, on my way home from the airport, I stopped to get Tess a Chiefs flag. They were selling them for a $4 donation to the Ronald McDonald House, and Tess LOVES her Chiefs!

While there, I continued on with the sandwich cravings and ordered the Egg White McMuffin. It was 7 PointsPlus. It wasn’t extremely delicious, but I ate it.

At the Food Truck, I ate the Pork Bahn Mi Sandwich. It as 2:00 pm and I had let myself get way too hungry! NOT 7 PointsPlus. Pork, buttered grilled French Baguette, pickled carrots, jalapeños, cucumber slices, cilantro, chipotle mayo, and secret sauce! It is ridiculously delicious!!!

I am going out of town on Thursday. I plan to only eat 26 PointsPlus a day for the rest of the week and continue with my walking challenge!!

Go Chiefs!!
